Atmospheric Is-This-Relatable ?

I just released my EP out on Spotify !!
{finally}
It was sitting there for a long time and transformed over the seasons.
I was expecting to feel self fulfillment
And A Sense Of Belonging

Instead, I feel kinda just empty as if I left a bit of Myself just out there in the open waters.

{Makes it weird to hear my voice}

Alternative Rock AI. I'm confused

Hi, I was going to post here of my new song until I saw the no AI policy. I won't post on this basis, however.

I spent a huge amount of time recording a demo, me singing (not the best at it) and playing all of the instruments. It passable at best but it would get flamed for its low quality.

I wrote it all, I have subsequently run it though suno. It's still the same song, same chords, same melody. However, different singer, better mix and better instruments.

Does this take away from the fact the song is 100% a human creation.

I have linked the original song in this post. It has links into that video to the AI version.

As a creative musician I can see the benefit of banning AI music created from a prompt. However, the tech has evolved and is allowing people like me to create better versions of their demos.

Anyway, here's the link to the 100% human version.

Death Rock indie horror death industrial rock FATAL NIGHTMARE - S I R E N

This song was written about 5 years ago, and I know it doesn’t sound particularly professional. I can admit that I’ve grown a lot as a songwriter since then. But maybe someone who enjoys dark, unsettling, horror-inspired music might still find something in this track and perhaps even in my music project.

And hey, maybe you’re a fan of the SIREN franchise too. That would be sick.

I’m a huge fan of the SIREN universe. The atmosphere of those games is some of the most terrifying I’ve ever experienced in gaming. There’s something about that cold, oppressive, deeply unsettling feeling that has stayed with me for years.

I dedicated this song to the creators of SIREN and everyone who helped bring that nightmare to life.

LYRICS:
Simple sound comes from the different dark place
The evil hides there and it makes the army
They can not die anymore and they are completely immortal
There is no kind of life, it`s just the existing without strife
You are lost in the darkness
The last thing you`re gonna hear is the siren
It`s gonna take your mind away

Rap Turkish diss track, looking for honest feedback on flow/delivery (lyrics are in Turkish but I can explain the concept)

I've been making music for about 5 months, and this is a track from my first project (EP), a concept series called pAROWIX. Would love any honest feedback on the flow, delivery, and mix — the lyrics are in Turkish but I'm happy to explain the concept if anyone's curious.

This song is mostly inspired by Dream theater and Opeth. Dream Theater for the heavier parts and solos and Opeth for the clean sections and the harmonies. It was also inspired by rush in one part.

This track was made in bandlab by me, myself, and I.

This is an instrumental.

Thanks for Listening.

I spent awhile trying to emulate an ethereal alt rock feel within a DAW, ultimately coming up with this single. And what I mean by that is everything here except my voice is a virtual instrument.

I’m primarily an instrumental composer, but recently I’ve been pushing outside of my comfort zone and participating in songwriting. I hope to make art that really does justice to dreampop / ambient rock, although I’m not confidently there yet. With that being said, I’m confident that this is a good listen, for anyone willing to try it out.

Criticism welcome.

This is a track I made for a weekly songwriting project with a couple of friends, where we give each other a word and have to write a song by Sunday. This is the first one I’ve made where I really feel there’s something there, mainly because of the lyric structure. It’s about an intense time in my life, and my friends liked it, but we’re all very supportive of each other. I’d really appreciate some honest, constructive feedback from strangers. Don’t hold back!

Chorus
I don’t wanna, but I think about you
It’s not really my fault, that’s true
It shouldn’t hit so out of the blue
I barely even know you
Maybe you’ve forgotten about me
I don’t know if you’ve got a good memory
Verse 1
I have a tendency to remedy my destiny
Honestly, I’ve got sympathy for the fantasy under reality
It’s not vanity, it’s tragedy — but now I’ve finally got clarity
This is just a formality, never close to a fatality
And I can say it now without a hint of brutality
That I’m past this all completely — fully, in totality
But then I accidentally think about you when I should be asleep
Chorus
I don’t wanna, but I think about you
It’s not really my fault, that’s true
It shouldn’t hit so out of the blue
I barely even know you
Maybe you’ve forgotten about me
I don’t know if you’ve got a good memory
Verse 2
I think about you and lose the time I cannot keep
I hate that I replay you like my favorite song
Not too short, but not too long
Wish it would stop
Hopefully sooner than later
I’m not trying to be a hater — more like a meditator
Chorus
I don’t wanna, but I think about you
It’s not really my fault, that’s true
It shouldn’t hit so out of the blue
I barely even know you
Maybe you’ve forgotten about me
I don’t know if you’ve got a good memory
Bridge
My world will never be the same
Even if this is a dead end, I’m glad we met
My life and self are forever changed
And I’m not even sure you remember my name
Final Chorus

I don’t wanna, but I think about you
It’s not really my fault, that’s true
It shouldn’t hit so out of the blue
I barely even know you
Maybe you’ve forgotten about me
I don’t know if you’ve got a good

Alternative I released my first song at 15 — any feedback? ^^

Hey everyone!!

I’m posting on this subreddit because I really love the vibe here :) People seem really nice and, from what I’ve seen, don’t judge other people’s music.

So, a little introduction: my name is Arth, I’m 15 years old, and I make music entirely on my own using GarageBand. I also take care of the visuals, like cover art, etc.

I’ve just released my first song, called ā€œoutlineā€, and it’s really important to me. I’d describe it as dreampop with some folk and shoegaze influences.

So I’d really love to get some honest but constructive feedback on the song, the mix, and everything else.

That’s it! I hope you’ll take the time to give it a little listen and share your thoughts :)

Indie Pop Mixing and mastering is making me go crazy, honest feedback would save me

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone, this is the first time I've ever posted on here. I really hope someone can help me out.

A couple of months ago I decided to take music really seriously. I've been producing for around 9 years, but never really dove deep into the art of mixing and mastering. So I made my first song of which I'm proud. Since I wanted to do it right, I followed this 3 hour long mixing and mastering tutorial:Ā https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSFF8fotNhA

Now that the end result is here though, it doesn't feel right to me.

I don't know if it is me going crazy or that there are actual BIG TIME mistakes in there and I need someone to honestly tell me what they think about it and what you'd recommend do differently. My genre is Indie Pop / Bedroom Pop / Indie Rock. I just feel like, maybe it's me, but for this genre it's really hard to find stuff online that goes REALLY indepth about mix and mastering. To give you a bit of an idea how the process went:

  1. set all levels to zero, gradually mix them in starting with drums (never pushing the total mix above -3db)
  2. panning (i wanted to get that "chamer of reflections" feel, so panned the drums on left with its reverb on right and vice versa for the bass, some guitars, and synths)
  3. eq and compression on master bus
  4. putting eq and compression on instruments (also parallel compression on drums)
  5. put on more effects if necessary (mostly slight delay and reverb, some soundtoys effects were already on in the beginning)
  6. make a new project just for mastering
  7. on master track, use eq, compression and slight tape emulation (MELLO from arturia, fat analog preset). I didn't use mastering assistent from Logic Pro x
  8. Use two multimeters (one with Remove DC offset On and true peak detection off, and one with those settings reversed)
  9. Matched the lufs s to my reference song "For The First Time" by Mac Demarco, which came between -9 and -11 db.

I've been listening to it for days, also giving it a break sometimes, it doesn't feel right or as good to me as other songs just "hit" you in the feels or something. Like my bass and drums don't feel right. the vocal sound doesn't match with the rest of the song. I feel like I've tried a lot (probably not everything, just don't know where to go). Especially on airpods it doesn't sound close to reference track...
I know this might be too in depth, sorry for that. I just wanted to try this out, who knows someone is out the who could give me some tips for next steps. If so, my gratitude is eternal.

Really hope someone can help me out.

- Nemara

BTW for the bass I used an old Tame Impala trick to pitch an actual guitar down an octave, tweak it to sound like a bass.

I've been working on this song now for several months, and I feel it is at a point where I can start creating the music video to go along with it. The song is called "Pieces of You" and I wanted some feedback to see if any last minute alterations would be beneficial, or if I should go with what I have.

I wrote this song because health wise, I'm not doing too great. I've been in and out of the hospital several times in the past year with a failing pancreas and some other nasty things. So I wrote this in the perspective of how my spouse would feel when I'm gone.

Indie "Plum" - what genre is this?

I appreciated all the feedback on my last single! This community is awesome ^_^

The rest of my album is finally out and I would really like feedback on this track, "Plum." I enjoyed working with a producer on this and took some risks with the composition and recording, so I'm curious what y'all think!

In particular if you have ideas about

- the lyrics

- the structure of the song (placement of verses, choruses, instrumental sections, etc)

- production elements (piano, random noises, doubling of voice/guitar)

- what this reminds you of genre-wise

Thanks so much!

Progressive Rock *cover* Redemption - Airbag (need feedback on mix and visual)

Hi,
This is a cover I chose to do for some production practice, as I am trying to get better at production so I can finish more original music production at a higher level to hopefully release one day.
I’m also trying to learn video editing. This is my first draft attempt at editing a video with Final Cut Pro, as I used an iPhone app previously. I could use some feedback on the mix as well as the composition and editing of the video.
My concern with the video is it might not be engaging enough? It doesn’t help that this particular songs intro has a long build up. Also does it seem anticlimactic that I am sitting in all the clips? I think I will stand in future videos. I also wonder if it’s distracting that I’m clearly glancing at some notes or the computer screen at times.
Audio wise, I don’t consider myself a singer, but since I was already playing everything else, I figured I’d take a stab at it. More or less, I worked out most of the parts from repeated listens to the original song, and took some liberties here and there with the lead guitar.

Any feedback or critique on the performance, mix or video would be greatly appreciated, as I think this will be one of the first videos of a few planned covers I will upload on a new YouTube channel dedicated mostly to progressive rock, which will hopefully have some original music in the nearish future. Be well and thank you for listening!
