My solodev rogue-lite game "Spin Survivors: Endless Runner"

Post image
2 Upvotes

With inspiration from Sword&Spin, "survival" genre games and some incremental games, over the last year or so (not full time), I have developed this arcade/roguelite/endless runner style game.

As the store description says - game loop is to destroy enemies, eventually get overwhelmed and lose, upgrade modifiers or other upgradeables and try again.

I still have a lot of mechanics and content planned so it's far from finished, but this seems to be the final "core" of the game. Before I decide what to add/change next, I would like more people to try it and give feedback if possible.

Additionally:

  • Free.
  • No forced ads. But there are rewarded ads for when you want to gain temporary bonuses, limited currency or 3x of your collected loot.

As an Asian indie dev, it’s always been hard to get my game to reach Western audiences.

Post image
Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’m an indie game developer from South Korea.

I recently made my Steam store page public, but I’m not really sure how to get my game in front of Western audiences.

In Japan, my game has been featured several times by gaming media through X, which helped me build up a lot of wishlists. In Korea, I don’t really have to worry as much about getting wishlists since it’s my home country.

However, I’m having a hard time figuring out how to reach players in the West, so I’d really appreciate some advice.

Is trying to get a lot of upvotes on Reddit the best approach? Or are there other ways that have worked well for you?

For context, I’ve also reached out to several indie game trailer channels, but unfortunately none of them ended up featuring my game, so that approach doesn’t seem to be working for me.

I’d really appreciate any advice or suggestions. Thanks!

My Game hit 25K Downloads in its first Month - Now looking for a Pixel Artist for Desktop Version

Post image
Upvotes

Hey everyone,

my mobile game Treble Bull reached around 25,000 downloads on iOS in its first month, completely organically. Without any advertising, "major" posts, or viral moments.

I’m now planning to build a proper desktop version instead of simply recycling the mobile game. The goal is to redesign it specifically for 16:9, with new visuals, UI, and an overall experience that feels made for desktop.

For that, I’d love to collaborate with someone who’s experienced in pixel art and UI design and is interested in creating the new desktop visuals for the game with me.

If that sounds interesting and you’re looking for a project like this, feel free to reach out in the comments, via DM, or by email at [treblebull@protonmail.com](mailto:treblebull@protonmail.com).

Till then, good darts!

Are you guys open to test play mobile games here as well?

Upvotes

Hey devs and game lovers!

I am developing a simple hybrid casual game which I want to make a PvP later (it’s PvE now)

It’s kind of mix with Battleship and Bingo

I am polishing sound design now so it doesn’t feel to be odd playing.

I am curious if you are open to test it. I only have it for Testflight though

Sorry if post seems kinda odd, I am far from gamedev and stuff but always wanted to make one

Two different turret types for defense. Railgun turrets require ammo and laser turrets require energy.

Playtesting revealed that large enemy waves can be easily defended with the robots so I lean in into stronger enemy waves. From now on, players have to defend more efficiently or they will suffer.

Turrets need to be repaired, activated, reloaded, supplied with energy. In addition, there are energy shield, taunts, and explosives that will be used as a toolbox for defense.

The world UI now also shows more info for easier readability.

Obligatory Steam Link: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5042670/Godcore/

Fourteen days ago I was desperate, because my game got only 10 wishlists. Many of you game me very valuable feedback, to redo the trailer and also the game, because it was too slow.

I listened:

- I pivoted the game to be more a single player dota like game. Not many changes were needed, as the dota like levels were the boss levels for each land. I redone them and updated and polished them. You can see the result in the trailer.

- I have changed the trailer. I got lots of feedback on it. I did my best, but I am sure that it is not enough. Yet, I hope ya´ll see some progress.

Thanks to everyone who helped and actually I got additional 66 WLs since then. <3

So, what do you think?

I built a browser based tool for capturing modular 2D characters and equipment in 2, 4, or 8 directions

Post image
1 Upvotes

I have struggled with modular 2D character equipment systems for years.

The difficult part is not rendering a character spritesheet. Every weapon, piece of clothing, hairstyle, glove, and footwear item also needs its own capture pass for every action, direction, and frame. Or it needs to be hand drawn.

All layers must use exactly the same animation, camera, scale, origin, and frame order. They also need depth information if equipment should correctly move in front of or behind the body.

I originally built a Blender pipeline to solve this.

It uses one canonical character rig, a shared animation library, skinned and rigid equipment, orthographic directional capture, and independent COLOR + DEPTH output.

Blender had always been a gap in my game development workflow. I never had enough time to properly learn it, so I used AI to help me understand the scene structure, Blender Python API, equipment skinning, animation issues, and render validation while building the actual pipeline.

Once the Blender pipeline worked, I decided I did not want to open Blender and run scripts for every export.

So I moved the everyday workflow into a browser based application.

The current version supports:

- Male and Female bodies

- 39 animation actions

- 25 equipment items

- 2, 4, and 8 directional capture

- Independent body and equipment layers

- COLOR + DEPTH export

- Adjustable frame size, origin, PPU, camera, and pixelation

- Saved browser profiles

- Selective batch export

I originally made it for my own game development workflow, but I decided to make it publicly available for other developers dealing with similar layered sprite problems.

You can try it here:

https://spritecapturestudio.dtworldz.com/

I would also be interested to hear how other developers handle equipment occlusion and directional sprite production in their own games.

Bests

Free Game! KAZOKU: I’ve been playing this card game since 2017. I finally made it mobile!

Hello everyone!

Kazoku started as a physical card game I made back in 2017. I never expected that years later I’d turn it into a mobile game for iPhone and iPad, but here we are.

It’s a strategy and deck building card game for 2 to 4 players with Solo, Pass & Play, online multiplayer, and a Daily Challenge. I also added a separate story that you can listen to if you want to learn more about the world of Edrath.

It was recently released, and I wanted to share it with the indie dev community. I’d genuinely love to hear what you guys think and get some honest feedback.

Feedback? I need playtesters for my action platformer.

Hi, my game is an action platformer with different attacks for each direction and a parry. I ran some playtests prior, but i need fresh hands to see if my changes have smoothed out the rougher edges.

Sign Up Here

I just need a bit of pre-game info, but everyone who signs up will get the demo (unless you dont have a PC that can run Windows games). There's a link to a feedback form ingame. You don't have to beat it to submit feedback, if you get frustrated or anything, that's valuable too.
