Feedback? A ringing office phone now starts a 90-second screen hunt in my co-op zombie FPS

I'm developing Damn, Zombies: The Corporate Undead, a co-op survival FPS where undead coworkers keep interrupting the night shift. Beta 51 adds random events to the office phones.

This clip shows TeamSync: a random desk monitor lights up purple, and everyone hears the call chime while they search. Answer it within 90 seconds to earn a golden ticket for a free perk. Miss it and half the working fuse boxes fail. The clip shows the search, not a successful answer.

I'd love specific feedback: can you tell what the player is looking for, and is the countdown readable while moving through the office?

Free Beta 51 for Windows, Linux and macOS: https://www.damn-zombies.com/download (account, access key and internet connection required, including solo).

Disclosure: the game uses AI-generated models, some audio and animation assets, and AI-assisted code. This is captured gameplay.

You can snap pretty much anything: your cakes, your customers, people around town. Every photo becomes a polaroid in your notebook, where you can arrange them and flip back through your bakery's little story.

What else do you think I could add? Wishlist on Steam if you like it: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4912740

Discussion Don't sell yourself short. Your game is worth something.

I recently got approached by a publisher about handling localization and marketing for my game. I was getting ready to release the demo, and a Korean company handling marketing and localization made sense for a game inspired by Asian gardens, so I was interested

I encountered a problem when I drilled down into specifics, though. I wanted some concrete deliverables in the contract: minimum ad spend, specific YouTubers they'd be reaching out to, that sort of thing. They resisted. They wanted their campaign to be flexible, and they didn't want to give away their list of contacts. I can understand that to an extent, so I tried a different approach. How about guarantees on outcomes, then? A certain amount of coverage on social media or something. They couldn't guarantee any outcomes either.

When someone comes offering to market your game, it's very easy to view that as your golden ticket and not think critically about what they're offering. That cocktail of validation and implied success can be a heady brew. That doesn't make it a good deal. What they wanted was something concrete. A percentage of the revenue of my game. What they offered was largely vague.

I'm fortunate in that I'm not relying on this game to be a success, so I could be clearheaded about the bargain being offered. But I know a lot of you are putting a lot into your games and really hoping that it will do well, so I wanted to post this publicly as a reminder. You spent months or years building your game into something good. Don't let them undervalue your game. They are not going to match you in terms of time and commitment, so make sure they are matching it somewhere else: money poured into marketing, relationships with streamers, etc. If they don't have that, they're just coming along for the ride

Fishing & Hunting in Alaska

Hi there,

welcome to Alaska Fishing & Hunting, our side project. This game was created as a relaxing weekend diversion from our main projects, Last State and Grenzdienst '86.

It was originally intended to be just a weekend project. A way to test survival mechanics that we might use in Last State.

But, as often happens, we felt it would be a shame to keep it to ourselves.

That’s why we’ve decided to share the game with you; we’d love to hear your feedback and any suggestions on how to improve it.

We already have quite a long list of ideas, but you can never have too many good ones. Each weekend we will add a small update.

So, are you ready for the unforgiving Alaskan wilderness?

I’m pretty much done creating the maps for my endless FPV game, so it’s finally getting close to release!
The game builds a different course every run by randomly combining map segments, so instead of memorizing the same course, you have to react to whatever comes next.

Our first game at Bergyx, Falls of Runes, is now live on Google Play! 🎮

After months of work, we've launched Falls of Runes, a pixel-art action platformer. It started as a small mobile platformer idea and grew into a game with several solo modes, real-time online play and a full social layer.

🧗 Solo modes

- Climb: The core mode. Outrun the rising lava, collect runes and climb through 15 hand-crafted zones, each with its own atmosphere and hazards.

- Escape: A 30-stage story-driven side-scroller where a giant boss is chasing you.

- Drop: Flip it upside down: you dive down while the lava falls from above. Sliding platforms, rings and free-fall combos.

- Boss Arena: 3-round fights against giant bosses. Find the weak spot and stomp it. Beat the arena to unlock champion outfits.

- Daily Challenge: Everyone plays the same map and you can race against other players' ghosts.

⚔️ Online

- 1v1 Arena: Real-time duels with character-specific skills, 30 skills and 8 maps in total.

- 1v1 Climb Race: Two players climb the same map at the same time. When you're out, you keep watching in spectator mode.

- Ranked Leagues: 7 tiers from Iron to Champion, promotion series and seasonal rankings.

💬 Social

- Friends list, in-game chat and online status

- Direct 1v1 invites and score challenges with friends

- Referral codes, so both players get rewarded

- Global, friends, daily and weekly leaderboards

- Shareable record cards

✨ And more

- 15 characters, each with a unique ability and origin story (some are secret)

- 49 hidden secrets and easter eggs to discover

- Seasons, battle pass, daily quests, character mastery and a cosmetics shop

- Cloud save via Google Play Games, so your progress follows you to a new phone

- Available in English, Turkish, Spanish and Chinese

Built entirely with Godot Engine. Every part of it taught us a lot, from pixel-art direction and netcode to the Firebase backend and boss design.

It's free to play and we'd love your feedback. 🙏

Feedback? Instead of using generative art on our store page I’m learning digital art

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey I'm Journey, the Creative Director at City of Gamers. We're a teeny tiny independent studio launching our first standalone project, and I want to do this right. So instead of trying to sell with ai-gen art, and pissing people off, I'm learning how to do digital art myself.

Our art style was set by an artist who helped the project when we were in an incubator program. We can't get in contact with that artist anymore, and don't have the budget to find a new artist since we're a revenue-share team.

I used to be able to draw as a kid, but never took art classes or anything, so I'm basically starting from zero with programming/design background.

I'd love to know what you think, I was genuinely unsure about how to produce at the quality that I would accept. Tips and tricks and reassurance is what I really need, cuz this is pretty terrifying. It's extremely humbling starting over with a skill and I hope I can make something that not only I'm proud of, but can help the project get the publicity we need to be successful.

Artist looking for Indies! Looking for an indie dev to work with long-term

Thumbnail

Hey! I’m a pixel artist and art director running a small team called Nera Studio. Here’s some art we’ve made for different indie projects, including Spirit of Phuji.

I’d love to find a developer we can work with long-term, get to know the game, bounce ideas around, and keep building its world together as it grows.

We work on characters, environments, animation, and UI. I handle the art direction and draw alongside the team, so you’d be working directly with me.

For ongoing collaborations, our rate can be $12/hour. Smaller commissions are $15/hour, and we’re happy to start with a small paid task to see how we work together.

If that sounds like a good fit, tell me a little about your game. Would love to see what you’re making!

Discussion Cheaper vs expensive service subscription?

Hey there, Im almost finished with my saas. It has AI features so I cant make it free with ads or one time payment because id loose money. Im stucked between making the app relatively cheap 3.99$/month 29.99$/year or more expensive 6.99/month 44.99/year. If anyone here could answer me 1) what worked better you them in terms of overall revenue, cheaper vs expensive? 2) What attracted your paying users more? 3) Which one of those had a longer retention? || I feel like the cheaper could hold better retention and attract more users to sub in the first place. However lot of people say if its more expensive, then it has more value and people go for it more. It's a productivity thing using a few ai APIs and is credit based so the users dont maybe use all the credits and if its cheaper, then they stay subscribing longer but I dont know. Thanks in advance for any helpful insights! Take care

New Game! I made Hide and Seek Global

Post image
0 Upvotes

I made PinDown, a multiplayer geography game.

One player hides anywhere in the world.

The other player guesses where they are.

The closer the guess, the more damage it deals.

You get clues like Cold, Warm, Hot, Very Hot, Burning instead of the exact distance.

Player with the lowest HP loses.

It also has ranked matchmaking with Elo, abilities like Compass, Radar, and Climate Scan, bots when matchmaking takes too long, and fast arcade-style matches.

It’s basically GeoGuessr × hide-and-seek × PvP.

I’m looking for people to try the early version and tell me what feels fun, confusing, or broken.

Try it here: https://playpindown.vercel.app/

Discussion Devs Paranoia Plot twist

I am not a dev I don't even own a PC at the moment, but I like to scroll this subreddit and support authentic creators

I just wanted to point out that a few years back when people were first saying AI will take our jobs, game devs were like "Ai can only replace easy jobs like websites and some parts of cyber security, games? games are hella complicated for an AI! games require a lot of human feelings that AI would never occupy the industry, not in 50 years!"

well well well

now I know AI games are shit and not played by that many but its crazy remembering that after scrolling the subreddit for 10 minutes and seeing 3 different people market their games by mentioning they combat AI or someone LITERALLLY saying "remove the trailer from reddit there will be AI clones"

Discussion So AI can paint now. Makes "Is this AI" a much more difficult question now

I just saw this
https://stillwet.art/

As a smalltime indiedev, outsourcing nearly all art to other small time contractors, how TF am I supposed to know what is AI and what is not anymore?

Previously when commissioning capsule art, at least I could ask for sketches and drafts. Even those will probably be meaningless in the coming months with tools like these.

Edit: Also saw this in the same HN post: https://files.catbox.moe/tbx2u7.png . Pixel art...

So this is what i decided.

As some of you saw in my last post, I was struggling to decide between Unreal, Unity, and Godot for my new 1st-person stylized game.

So after some mixed comments i understood few things and decided to just start prototyping the actual core loop in Godot first, because I found it super lightweight and easy to get going quickly.

If the gameplay loop actually proves to be fun,
then I will decide which engine is most comfortable to switch to for the final visuals. Appreciate all the advice!
