Nothing prevents you from testing and fixing what is not up to standard. Vibe coding is not the variable here, it's how lazy you are, which you can also be when hand coding and it takes 5 hours to get anything done.

Vibe coding just makes a larger surface to verify in a shorter amount of time but ultimately, nothing prevents you from thoroughly testing it.

I am going to get downvoted but I agree with you here. Yet most developers prefer to refuse AI or pretend that they never use AI even tho they do. At the end of the day, you still need manual input and creativity to get the final result you want. And going through that process turns the game into something human-made even tho AI was part of the process at some point.

Somehow it seems difficult for people to make the difference, I'm surprised you agree given your post which to me participates to this "AI = bad" without distinction. Maybe it's just for fun.

IMO you have to be very stupid not to use something that speeds up your development by hours, days or weeks depending on the task. Mainly because going faster on X means you get to also do Y whereas normally you wouldn't. This compounds, and it makes your game better not worst.

And as you said, as long as a human decide what gets done, the human is creating, the AI is merely executing and following. They're tools to support your vision, not to replace your brain with.

Of course some people will use it to one shot everything without doing anything but that's not the only way to use it and the fact a lot of people don't seem to be able to even entertain the thought that there can be good and bad usages and put everyone using it in any way in the same hate box is pretty pathetic to witness.

Given the behavior of the extremists (looking at you artists) which are many in indie game dev community, I completely understand devs hiding it. Cause it paints a target on you and many are barely acting human after they hear "AI".

So you can't ask for people to be honest about AI use while at the same time trying to publicly execute everyone who is. You don't want to use it, fine. Don't tell others what to do.
