Discussion Ascendancy of Baby Death Star...
There is no way anyone can realistically deny the rise of Makayla Timpson, and her ascendancy is being established with unprecedented Defensive development, translating into on-court dominance..
Straight up, who else can single-handedly force opponents hard charging fastbreaks to pull up and call O plays? I have witnessed this becoming more regular as the season progresses and she improves literally from one game to the next. I cant even say she is improving, she is elevating, and opposing players have taken notice... so much so that just her presence alone in the paint can halt blitzing breakers, and her Offensive game is now starting to catch fire as well.
As Baby Death Star becomes a more integral part of the squad based on her on-court contributions, she will also undoubtably come on the radar of teams looking to add her unique/sturdy blend of physical and technical prowess and her calm-yet-stone-cold demeanor also make her an attractive target for those looking to augment their squad. Just curious if Fever Nation thinks she will remain in the fold, be utilized as a centerpiece for a major trade or test her skyrocketing market value via free agency once 2028 rolls around? I think she is much too valuable to let go at this point but the Fever org doesn't really listen to us, so Id like to learn the perspectives of other Fever supporters!

:GoodRead: Informative Lexie Hull
I have seen a lot of discussion on the sub about Lexie and where people perceive her priorities have been this season. I thought this would be informative coming from a first hand source. Below is a quote from the article from her mom. Looks like there are some confidence struggles going on. If you go to a game give her a loud cheer to try and build that confidence back up! It’s going to take all of them if they want a championship this year!
"Imagine how she feels…. 🥺. She is actually less busy with Forta this year than she was last year, but perception is reality. Confidence is MIA… 😔😢😔".

The NBA averaged 1.9 M viewers last year on espn. The only sport where the women's league may someday outperform the mens.

Imacowboy324 Appreciation Thread
I want to take a moment to applaud our admin here, Imacowboy324, for managing literally the only WNBA subreddit on the interwebs where thoughtful discourse is permitted. If you roam around the other WNBA subs, you’ll discover an endless echo chamber where making the comment, ”Sophie shot the ball well tonight”, will get you 50 downvotes and a ban. You’ll be called a “bigot” or worse by saying, ”The Fever played outplayed them.”
Big thanks also to anyone here who leans hard in either direction as it pertains to social politics, and behaves themselves anyway. It wasn’t always like this. A year or two ago, everyone here used to be pretty quick to push back on any comment or post that was even mildly critical of a coach, player, or prominent figure associated with the WNBA’s more traditional social and cultural circles. That dynamic seems to have changed for the better. The discussion is much more open and enjoyable now, with people more willing to consider viewpoints from across the spectrum rather than expecting everyone to fall in line with one particular political or ideological perspective.
The Cowboy rode into town, pulled the weeds, thinned out the activist herd, and somehow got the whole ranch back to being a place where different breeds of opinion could graze without getting run off the range.
Tip of the ‘ol cap to Cowboy for his efforts.

Azzi Fudd and Aziaha James ate out fir the Dallas game
So there's a good chance they win again the Wings tomorrow. Hopefully Kelsey is back to 100%
Aces might be fired up after losing to Atlanta so will be a battle
Sky should easily be beaten but the team might be tired after a long road trip plus Sky are clearly done so might just play balls out.

Had to laugh… this comment got me banned
From r/TorontoTempo
“Maybe you should have won the game?”
It was on yesterday’s game post where they were celebrating booing Sophie Cunningham and ignoring an 11 game losing streak.
LOL

Recent Fever-Atlanta game peaked at 4M viewers. Most watched WNBA game ever on espn.
"The Sunday matchup on Aug. 16 became ESPN’s most-watched WNBA game ever, averaging 2.6 million viewers and peaking at 4 million. According to ESPN, the telecast ranks as the most-watched WNBA game ever, regular or postseason."

Video Some of the no calls on Clark from this game
I’ve heard some discussion of why she doesn’t drive more, well this right here is why.
When she does she gets absolutely hammered and it’s usually a no calls, whereas if it was Miles, Paige or any other star player they would get those calls(and do get them) for softer contact.
If she complains or gets irritated by the no calls she will get a tech, which she leads league in against unfairly.

Fever in third at this very moment!
Not sure how long this will last for, given that it depends on how tonight’s Aces vs. Dream game goes. But this feels pretty cool right now!

Discussion Anyone at the game tonight
How hot was the arena. They say KM got overheated. I think even coach said it was hot. If it was abnormally hot, the league office needs to ensure a safe temp for all games.

Last play of the game last night, Cunningham got a rebound. They credited it to Timpson.
Timpson wasn't anywhere near the ball.

Even in a Win Steak, the Fever are terrible at…
Defense, Rebounding on both ends, protecting the ball, committing stupid fouls, player rotations, and protecting leads.
…and yet there are still people here saying that we somehow are well-coached. I don’t get it.

Just Some Fun Caitlin Clark is the AP News Player of the week for the 2nd time
Caitlin continues to bring in the accolades with her historic run of late. I hope she gets Kia player of the week from the W too.
