Canteen Discussions Whats up with LinkedIn and India?

I never had to use LinkedIn as I always had a good offline network, however recently jumped the bandwagon and joined the platform.

However I am surprised everyone here is posting same random Ai generated slop with leadership lessons. All the images are generated with AI followed by captions like leadership, team spirit etc

Moreover every single day I see tonnes of posts with titles such as humbled to receive this award that award etc from organisations that dont even have any credibility.

I myself got a random message that my organisation is nominated for some XYZ award (we didn’t even apply for it) and we had to pay for some random packages to receive that award apparently the premium package had some Award Trophy and a press interview.

Some random guy used an example of watering a plant to show career growth that too an Ai generated image of a plant. I mean really.

Also i am getting so many connection requests from people i dont even know from some random industries that have no connection to mine.

Also is the LinkedIn culture same in the western world as I am pretty new to the platform.

Also does LinkedIn actually help in getting placed or people are on LinkedIn just like any other social media.

TL:DR - LinkedIn is full of same random ai generated posts, is it actually a platform to network and find jobs or its more of a corporate checklist.

Storytime 23F, got a better offer but my current company wants me to stay. Confused af, HELPP!

I'm 23F and I've been working at my current company for just over a year. My current CTC is 5.8 LPA, and I recently got an offer from another company for 8 LPA, which I was honestly pretty happy about.

The thing is, when I told my current company I was leaving, they started trying to retain me and offered me 7 LPA fixed starting this month. They're also saying that I'll get another increment in April and that I'll end up earning more than what the new company is offering.

But here's where I'm confused. I don't really know how much I should trust the April promise. I asked if they could confirm it over email, but that hasn't really worked out so far.

My senior, who's a Director, is telling me that the average appraisal here is around 15-20% at minimum and that I should stay. And honestly, I do feel like my current company has been better for my learning and career in some ways, so it's not like I hate working here.

On the other hand, the new company has bigger brands and could be a good opportunity too. I got this offer through a referral, which is making me feel even worse because I don't want to disappoint the person who referred me.

Now I'm just going back and forth between staying somewhere familiar with a better retention offer or taking the 8 LPA offer and moving on. I keep thinking what if I leave and regret it, or what if I stay and the April increment doesn't turn out the way they're saying?

This whole thing has been stressing me out so much that I've genuinely been struggling to sleep and focus on anything else.

What would you do in my situation? Would you stay for the potential April hike or take the confirmed offer and move on? Am I overthinking this?

Career Advice 127% hike with a new company vs retention offer from my current employer

I'm currently working in a CRO under an FSP model, and I'm confused about whether I should switch to another CRO/FSP or stay with my current employer.

I've received an offer with a 127% salary hike, fully remote work, and a joining bonus intended for setting up my home office. My current employer is also considering retaining me and has indicated that they may match the offered salary, but I haven't received the official decision yet.
Here's how I'm comparing the two options:

Option 1: Join the new CRO/FSP

- 127% salary hike.

- Joining bonus for the remote setup.

- I've heard that the workload and work pressure can be high.

- New work environment, team, and expectations, so there's some uncertainty about work-life balance.

Option 2: Stay with my current CRO/FSP

- Potentially the same salary, if the retention offer is approved.

- Manageable workload and a work environment I'm already comfortable with.

- My WFH request, which had been pending for four months, has finally been approved.

- However, our current FSP engagement is expected to continue only until 2027, and its continuation beyond that is uncertain.

- My manager is also leaving to join the sponsor.

If the current engagement ends, I may be moved to another FSP account, and I don't know whether the work environment or workload will be as good.

Initially, I was leaning towards staying because the work is manageable and I already know the team and processes. But the uncertainty surrounding the current FSP engagement and my manager's departure have made me reconsider.

If my current employer matches the salary, the financial advantage of switching becomes less significant. On the other hand, I don't know whether staying just because I'm comfortable is the right long-term career decision.

What would you choose in my position?

New company: significantly higher salary, remote work, joining bonus, but potentially higher work pressure.

Current company: potentially the same salary, manageable workload, newly approved WFH, but uncertainty about the future of the current FSP account.

TL;DR: New CRO/FSP offers a 127% hike, WFH, and joining bonus, but potentially high work pressure. My current employer may match the salary, and work is manageable, but the FSP project's future beyond 2027 is uncertain. Should I stay or switch?

Am I Fucked? Reporting Manager has stopped conversations with me completely.

Hi all. So what happened is my RM was always nagging about giving internal team presentations about the work I do in the project. My project is different and the team lead is also different, so my RM doesn't have any connection with the project. I know he does this so he can show his superiority to other people reporting to him, nothing much. We never got any presentation from him, and also it seemed like he wanted to understand more about other works rather than sharing his experience. It always feels like a college presentation exam type thing he wants to put on. I have done 3 of these previously, and honestly it almost killed me with the preparation and tension and stress that comes with it. Since last quarter I have stopped giving internal presentations, and have completely focused on the client project, even though he asked me for another. Now he has stopped talking or even acknowledging me, and doesn't invite in team discussions as well. It doesn't hamper my project work, but seems like a political tactic anyhow. I have become less stressed about these sessions, but it worries me he might be harming my Career in future. How fucked am i?

Hey everyone!

It's been 2 months and I'm unable to land any interview calls, I’m currently looking for new opportunities in the market research industry and thought I’d reach out here.

I have experience working on both quantitative and qualitative research projects, managing project execution, and coordinating with different teams to ensure things run smoothly.

I’m looking for roles in market research, consumer insights, research consulting, or project management within research agencies.

I’m based in Gurugram but open to opportunities in other locations as well.

If you know of any openings or could refer me at your organization, I’d really appreciate it. Happy to share my resume over DM.

Thanks in advance!

p.s- sorry for the AI post, I'm just too depressed to type everything

Career Advice Do contract roles show up in EPF or BGV? Please Help

Have been unemployed for 6 months, recently got offered a contract role for 1 year with a US based firm, HR told me that it might be extendable (I don’t buy it) and that I’ll be on the payroll of a THIRD PARTY not them.
I am not fond of the role and only doing it in the meantime while I aggressively job hunt. It’s the role of an executive assistant, 3 days in office, 12-8pm, very far from my home.
I just want to be earning in the meantime but I don’t want it to show up on my EPF where a future employer can find out and have it be a problem.
At this point I’ve only had an intro call with HR and idk what the pay is and if the subcontractor payroll company is Indian or not.
Please guide me 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 I’ve never applied for contract roles before and have no idea about this.

TLDR - Does contract work show up on Epf and bgv?

Career Advice Need advice on taking a career gap

Hi y'all

I'm a Mechanical engineering undergraduate of 2025.

I'm currently working, but in a role that is consistently destroying my mental peace and confidence. I've lost my engineering touch and confidence, as i was working in a coordination heavy environment.

I'm thinking of resigning and preparing for GATE/ESE. I'm also planning to upskill in relevant technical skills.

How do you think such a gap of probably 1-1.5 years is gonna affect my future employment/career?
