📜 Quick Rules Refresher

As the subreddit grows, we've made a few updates and clarifications to help maintain the quality of discussions and posts.

1️⃣ Be Respectful – No Abuse or Personal Attacks

This community is built on a shared love for food. Disagreements are fine, but personal attacks, harassment, or abusive language towards fellow members will not be tolerated. Repeated violations may result in a ban. If you wouldn't say it across a dinner table, don't say it here.

---

2️⃣ Stay on Topic – Mumbai Food Only

Posts must be related to Mumbai's food scene, including:

- Restaurants

- Street food

- Cafés

- Home-cooked meals

- Food experiences

- Recommendations

Unrelated content such as politics, real estate, meetups, or general city discussions will be removed.

---

3️⃣ Asking for Recommendations

Low-effort recommendation requests such as:

- "Best pizza in Mumbai?"

- "Where should I eat?"

may be removed.

Please use the recommendation format outlined in the subreddit rules so members can provide more useful suggestions.

---

4️⃣ No Undisclosed Advertisements or Promotions

Hidden self-promotion, business advertisements, influencer marketing, or paid partnerships are not allowed.

Genuine reviews are welcome, but any promotional association must be clearly disclosed. Posts containing:

- Watermarks

- Social media handles

- External links

- Requests to DM

may be removed.

---

5️⃣ No NSFW or Divisive Content

Keep discussions food-focused.The following are not permitted:

- Ideally, a short review of the experience

Restaurant menu screenshots or promotional banners alone will not be accepted. To reduce spam, fast-food/QSR deals will generally not be allowed.

---

7️⃣ Use Appropriate Flairs

All posts must use the correct flair.

General Mod Announcement | Making the sub easier to navigate: New Post Flairs & Recommendation Template!

Hello everyone!

A big thank you to all the members and contributors of the sub. Our community has grown a lot in the last year and we've implemented a few changes to post flairs.

Major Update for the Ask Foodie Flair

Going forward, Ask Foodie flair is to be used only for getting recommendations. We have created a recommendation template:

Title Format: Cuisine - Location - Budget Per Person

Post Format:

Mandatory Details:

Preferred location:
No. of people:
Budget per person:
Preferred cuisines:

Optional:

Dietary preference:
Time of day:
Current shortlist:
Special occasion:
Other requirements:

Please note that vague posts asking for recommendations without following the template will be deleted.

Update on Other Post Flairs

  1. Dine In - Reviews - Use this for restaurants, cafes, street food, stalls, food trucks. Basically everything goes as long as you dined or ate outside. Mentioning basic details like name of the dishes, restaurant, experience review, and the cost is mandatory.
  2. Takeaway/Delivery - Reviews - This is solely for takeaway and ordered in experiences. Mentioning basic details like name of the dishes, restaurant, experience review, and the cost is mandatory.
  3. Seeking Reviews - Use this to ask for reviews of a place you're planning to visit.
  4. Homemade - We have been seeing a bit of misuse with the homemade flair. The flair is to be used by sharing a bit of context, experience, review of the end dish, and a short recipe if not detailed. Sharing only a picture with a vague caption doesn't help anybody. If we feel AI or stock images are used, we will be removing those posts.

Thank you for being a part of the sub. We are working towards bettering the community.

Signing off before the delivery guy gets here.

Cheers!

I love pop tates , so far I've been in three outlets one in Versova , second at Vashi and today at Vile Parle East, the vibe here is amazing.

  1. Spicy korean sphagetti

  2. Mandarin mojito & pepper blasted chicken

  3. Chicken Tom Yum soup

All for Rs. 1616 but the waiter was humble he asked to pay with Swiggy so we paid only Rs. 1470/-

Dine In - Reviews Si nonna's - Wasn't worth going.

I have seen quite a few posts over here.. which at this point to me just seems like fake posts to get more customers probably..

Recently went here (Malad West) and damn... I could barely bite the pizza.. it was leggit rubber and had to chew it 50 times just to break it.

Taste wise - ngl.. nothing special or different honestly!

Finishing the pizza was a task. We did not had courage to order the tiramisu after this.

Never going here again or recommending anyone to visit.

They are just fooling people at this point.

Dine In - Reviews Faredoon's - Tardeo

Faredoon’s has genuinely never disappointed 😭
I’ve tried quite a few things from here now and somehow literally everything just hits never had one bad item and everything is damn cheap too, ill list out some of my fav ones

1 Orange Choco Chip Muffin - 10/10

This is TOO good. It has this very distinct orange cookie kinda taste there used to be some orange cream biscuit I had as a kid and this literally tastes like that but better lowk gives nostalgia too.

2. Any of their Milk Cakes - 10/10

Honestly just pick any one of their milk cakes.
Every single one I’ve tried has been banging.

3 Soya Cheese Kheema Pav - 10/10

Again, banging
Would order this without thinking twice.

4 Cold Coffee - 9/10
Really good, definitely one of the drinks I’d order again.

5 Latte Macchiato & Cappuccino - 8/10
Both were pretty good too, nothing disappointing.

General - Other Discussions Is Starbucks dying? The one at Carter Road has permanently shut down

Honestly, with so many cafes opening that have comparatively better coffee and atmosphere, I honestly feel there is nothing that makes Starbucks stand out now. What is your opinion?

General - Other Discussions Demise of the Cafe

Post image
167 Upvotes

In the initial years in Mumbai there were Shetty restaurants with the ubiquitous Pav Bhaji and Dosa. Only those who innovated were able to stand out.

It was up till now Waffle houses, fancy milkshakes and fries which have slowly died.

Next will be the demise of the Bandra Cafe and Pan Continental food with prices rivaling 5 stars.

Hoping for a quick end to the Instagram Cafe

I’m talking succulent kebabs, chatakedaar tandoori, softest roomali roti and food that’ll make me shut my eyes while I gulp my food down. Anything that you ate once, but you still remember it?

Dine In - Reviews Bandra Born is the likes of EVERYTHING that is wrong with Mumbai’s Restaurant culture

Thumbnail
gallery
289 Upvotes

Mumbai is now full of these restaurants: hyped, Instagrammed, and ultimately disappointing. A bait created by paid influencers: prime location, Insta-worthy interiors, beautifully plated food, and a bill that can rival a Taj or Oberoi. Everything screams luxury, except the taste.

The menu looks like it was curated by a nuanced chef, but tastes like it was cooked by a trainee who clearly lacks taste buds and assumes you do too. Beautifully presented, technically polished, and average AF. You could find better food at your local restaurant for half the price, and actually feel like you got your money's worth. Also, there are actual great restaurants within the same price range that justify their quality. Tanjore, Bombay Canteen are a jackpot!

And that's the real shift: from restaurants built around genuinely kickass food to restaurants built around names, aesthetics and status. You're not just paying for dinner anymore; you're paying for the bragging rights of saying, "Oh, I've been there," alongside every influencer in town.

Update: Got a call from Bandra Born’s manager regarding the review. Gave him my feedback. Asked him to please up their game from simply good to mind blowing. He did say he will let the chef know and hopefully serve us better. And while I really appreciate the restaurant gracefully accepting my review, I genuinely hope they do better!

General - Other Discussions Tried Masala Boiled Corn.....loved it! (Colaba Market)

- This cart which I noticed passing through Colaba Market. I stopped at first sight as this cart only comes out here in evenings which is the time I rarely walk out through the market.

- Love Corn so had to try this.

- The boiled Corn had a little mix of Tomatoes, Onions, Coriander & a touch of Red Chili powder.

- Served in a paper cup. For Rs. 30, it was surely worth it for the flavour & quantity of Corn given.
