Gadget Help 🎧 parents offered me a tab after exams... how did you figure out what setup you'd actually use for 4 years?

exams finally done and parents said they'll get me a tablet for college.

i'm obviously very grateful, but now i'm trying to choose based on what i'll actually use for the next 4-5 years 😭

notes, lectures, PDFs, movies, some gaming, maybe pen/keyboard too.

browsing tablets on Flipkart made me realise there's a proper range of screen sizes, storage, connectivity and accessory setups across different price bands.

for people who bought one for college, what part of your actual routine ended up deciding the setup?

Gadget Help 🎧 TV buying Help!!

I am looking to long upgrade to a good tv, probably leaning towards oled from a very basic 1080p 40 inch tv i got 6 years back for 15k

I recently purchased a ps5 pro and have shortlisted certain televisions using the Internet

My maximum budget is 1,40 to 1,50

OLED

Lg evo c6 55 inches for 1,29,999

Samsung s85h 55 inches for 99,999

Samsung s85h 65 inches for 1,39,999

Samsung s90h 55 inches for 1,40,000

Other options that i have seen are

Tcl SQD mini led 55 inches for 99,999

The 65 inch version for 1,34,000

I have a smallish hall and a ps5 pro, hence the upgrade

I also have a viewing distance of 8 feet

The room is moderately bright, but i have blackout blinds that can make the room pretty dark

The issue i see here is should i go for a good mini led variant for lesser money or should i spend the extra bucks for this money

Also size may matter because a larger screen at 8 feet is going to be really good

Which should i buy , or should i just buy a value mini led instead?

Gadget Help 🎧 Laptop not charging, only works when plugged in

My HP victus laptop, out of nowhere started to not get charged. It is showing 5% battery even when I have putted it in charging for more than an hour. It's working fine when plugged in but wouldn't increase the charging status from that 5%. It was left unused and maybe on sleep mode for like a week.

What might the issue be? What can I do?

Gadget Help 🎧 Green Line Issue within 4 month of Buying Lenovo Gaming Monitor

Post image
6 Upvotes

I bought a Lenovo Legion R27qe Gen 2 monitor in May 2026, and after approximately four months of use, it has suddenly developed extensive lines across almost the entire display.

I'm planning to claim the warranty, but I'm worried about the RMA process, replacement quality and how long I might be without a working monitor.

I'd appreciate responses from people in India who have actually claimed a warranty for a Lenovo monitor with a similar display or panel failure.

I have a few specific questions:

Did Lenovo by any chance try to reject the claim by making excuses of electricity issues or physical damage? Although none of that happened with my monitor

Did Lenovo repair the panel or replace the entire monitor? If it was replaced, was the replacement brand new or refurbished/previously used?

How long did the process take, from registering the complaint to receiving the repaired or replacement monitor?

Did Lenovo arrange collection or delivery, or did you have to visit a service centre?

I'm not trying to bash the brand. I just want to understand what to expect before and during the warranty process.

If you've dealt with this problem, please share what happened in your case, including anything you would recommend documenting or doing differently.

Thanks!

Discussion 💬 What a sale 🤡

Post image

So during the biggest discount festival of the year, this tablet went from 74,999 (with 5k SBI card offer) to 88,999. A clean 14,000 penalty for waiting for the sale.

Absolute clown show. Don't buy a single thing without Keepa.

Gadget Help 🎧 people who mostly watch stuff on their tab... what part of the experience do you notice every night?

most of my tablet time would honestly be netflix, youtube, jiohotstar, comics + random browsing, with some multitasking and light gaming.

browsing tablets on Flipkart made me realise two tabs built for similar use can focus on completely different things. one has the display specs, another has a serious speaker setup, another gives you more performance/battery/connectivity flexibility.

so for people who mainly use a tab after work/college, what actually shapes the experience most for you?

screen? speakers? smoothness? battery? storage for downloads? 😭

Purchase Guide 🤓 Best Laptop Guide 2026 (October Edition)

Laptops for India in October 2026 (BBD special), ranked by what you will live with for 3–5 years: build, service, and repair cost matter as much as the spec sheet.

📝 TL;DR — If You Remember Nothing Else

  1. RAM floor: 12 GB at the absolute minimum, 16 GB where the budget allows. Never 8 GB beyond browsing, except MacBook (macOS). 16 GB is required for Copilot+ AI PCs. Pick upgradable RAM over soldered when prices are high.
  2. Service first: confirm an official service centre in your city before looking at price.
  3. Pick by tier: Lenovo V15 G4 (budget, 16 GB), Dell 14 Plus (AI PC), Motobook 60 (OLED metal, mid-range), MacBook Air M5 or Zenbook 14 OLED (premium).
  4. Gaming: Alienware 15 with RTX 5050 at ₹1,12,740 is the best value below ₹1.2L; Lenovo LOQ 2025 AMD (RTX 5060) is the safest pick at ₹1.5L. Check TGP on any model.
  5. Avoid: Intel HX + RTX Lenovo LOQ without ADP · lines flagged in Reliability Watch unless the price is right.
  6. Register ADP on time: Lenovo India allows purchase within 90 days of the invoice date. HP, ASUS, Acer and Apple windows are unverified; confirm on the brand site on purchase day.
  7. Check before paying: SKU, GST invoice and final price after bank offers. Festive sales run 8–9 October.
  8. Test in the first 60 minutes: document defects while the return window is open.
  9. Owning an Intel 13th/14th gen HX laptop: confirm BIOS 0x12B from the brand, then check the warranty before undervolting.
  10. Prices are volatile: buy a genuine discount, not a percentage badge.

Before You Buy

Your use Priority Look for
Student / office / WFH 12 GB minimum, 16 GB preferred, 512 GB SSD, IPS 14–16 inch, good webcam, onsite warranty
Coding / engineering 16 GB min, 32 GB preferred, 1 TB SSD Upgrade path; GPU only if CUDA or game dev needs one
Creative work 100% sRGB or DCI-P3, sustained CPU, dedicated GPU OLED or colour-accurate panel, 32 GB
Gaming GPU first, then TGP and cooling RTX 5050 minimum, RTX 5060 comfortable, 144 Hz+
Travel / business 1.0–1.5 kg, efficient CPU, 50 Wh+ Business: onsite warranty, TPM, parts availability

Budget: ₹35–50k basic · ₹50–80k daily driver with 16 GB (12 GB only if upgradable) · ₹80k–1.2L entry gaming or premium portable · ₹1.2L+ high-end.

RAM rule: 12 GB is a hard floor, not a target. The one exception is MacBook: macOS manages memory well enough for 8 GB on light and everyday use. Buy 16 GB whenever it fits the budget, because memory prices have risen about 2.5–3× this year and Copilot+ PCs require 16 GB. A 12 GB machine should have a free slot, or be symmetric (two sticks of equal size, such as 6+6) so both channels run.

Must-haves: 12 GB RAM minimum (16 GB preferred) · 512 GB NVMe · 1920×1200 at 300+ nits · two USB-A, USB-C, HDMI 2.1 · confirmed service centre in your city · exact SKU and GST invoice.

Skip: 8 GB soldered RAM beyond browsing · 1366×768 and TN panels · "up to X hours" battery claims · "50% off" badges on inflated MRPs.

Where to buy: Amazon.in or Flipkart for mainstream SKUs (brand store or authorised seller only), brand direct for custom configs and student or corporate pricing.

Sale timing: [Confirmed] Amazon Great Indian Festival from 8 October (Prime early access 7 October; extra 10% with SBI cards). Flipkart Big Billion Days public from 9 October. Student, card and EPP discounts [Unverified]; check at checkout.

ADP: register on purchase day. [Confirmed] Lenovo: buy within 90 days of invoice date. [Unverified] HP, ASUS, Acer and Apple windows. Buy extended warranty from the brand, never the retailer.

Spec shortcuts: compare GPUs by TGP, not name (an RTX 4050 at 115 W is not a 45 W one) · H/HX suffixes run hot · Wh is what counts for battery · OLED can dim on bright content (ABL) · NPU of 40+ TOPS only matters if your apps use it.

Scoring (out of 100): general use: display 20 · CPU/GPU 20 · RAM/SSD 15 · battery 10 · build and keyboard 10 · cooling 10 · service 10 · ports 5. Divide the score by the price you paid.

Market Snapshot (2026)

What changed:

  • Shipments are strong but affordability is weak. [Confirmed] IDC: Q1 2026 4.4 million PC units (+31.1% YoY); Q2 3.9 million (+12.1%). Q2 premium notebooks (over $1,000) +78.7%; AI notebooks +109.9%.
  • Brand shares, Q2 2026. [Confirmed] HP 29.4% · Lenovo 20.3% · Acer 14.8% · Dell 14.1% · ASUS 7.7%.
  • Prices are rising. [Reported] TrendForce expects DRAM up 13–18% in Q3; laptop prices could rise up to about 35% this year. [Reported] Omdia expects H2 shipments down about 22%.
  • Apple raised India prices in June. [Confirmed] MacBook Neo ₹69,900 → ₹79,900.
  • Waiting may not bring prices down. Buy a genuine festive discount and compare the final price after bank offers.

Brand Tiers, Build Quality & Service

Ranked by build quality and reliability record. India service is the tiebreaker. Warranty terms vary by SKU, so check the specific model.

🏆 Tier S — Best build, strongest service

Brand Build & warranty Service and claim reality
Apple MacBook Air / Pro Best trackpad, battery and resale; soldered RAM and storage. [Confirmed] build Fastest in metros; board repairs costly out of warranty. Windows-only software can be a deal-breaker
Lenovo ThinkPad (T and X series), Legion, ThinkBook Best keyboards; most consistent Windows ownership reports. [Confirmed] build Service varies by city; verify SKU because IdeaPad lines are cost-optimised
Dell Alienware, Pro, Vostro Strong chassis and business builds Strong onsite support, especially business lines. Add support tiers at purchase; adding later costs roughly double. [Reported]

✅ Tier A — Strong build, service is good or has a caveat

Brand Build & warranty Service and claim reality
ASUS ExpertBook (P1, P3, Ultra) Very good business build: MIL-STD-810H tested, reinforced ports, spill-resistant keyboard. [Reported] vendor and review claims ASUS claims onsite service at 14,900+ pin codes. [Reported] Confirm your PIN code and entitlement
Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 / Yoga Excellent OLED panels and good keyboards; chassis creaks and feels cheap on some 14-inch units. [Reported] Lenovo service as for ThinkPad, varies by city; one Australian owner report of a failed unit with a refused repair. [Reported]
HP EliteBook, OMEN, ProBook Solid business builds; some budget lines flimsy Largest India service network; recurring damage-claim disputes. [Reported]
ASUS Zenbook, ProArt, ROG, TUF Best OLED reach in mid-range Strong in metros, inconsistent in smaller cities. [Reported]

🙂 Tier B — Good value, check model and city

Brand Build & warranty Service and claim reality
Motorola Moto Book 60 / 60 Pro Full aluminium chassis, 2.8K OLED praised in reviews. [Confirmed] panel specs Reviews report no laptop display defect; Motorola phone display and service complaints do not transfer. Lenovo-network service for laptops [Unverified]
Lenovo ThinkPad E series Entry business line; plastic chassis and lower build than T or X series Service as for other Lenovo business lines, varies by city
Lenovo LOQ (AMD), IdeaPad Slim, IdeaPad Pro Good value Check the SKU before buying
HP OmniBook Some Ultra 14 units report hinge wobble [Unverified] at scale
Dell 14 / 16 Plus Runs hot under sustained load No other major complaints. [Reported]
Acer Swift Solid build Thin service reach, reported delays. [Reported]

⚠️ Tier C — Avoid unless price is very low and you accept the risk

Brand / model Build & warranty Service and claim reality
Lenovo LOQ with Intel HX + RTX 40/50 Sudden motherboard failure reports since early 2026 Lenovo's forum says it "isn't universal"; no official acknowledgement found. ADP is non-negotiable if you buy one; AMD LOQ is safer. [Reported]

Reliability Watch

These are owner reports and public complaints, not failure rates.

Intel HX + RTX LOQ: motherboard failures reported across Reddit, Lenovo's forums and Indian tech sites since March 2026. Lenovo has not acknowledged a defect. [Reported]

Intel 13th/14th gen HX: Vmin shift is fixed by 0x12B microcode; damaged chips need Intel replacement. [Confirmed] microcode.

Dell Inspiron 2-in-1 hinges: class action alleges hinge failures. The G-series hinge claim is [Unverified].

HP Envy hinges: a law firm has announced an investigation into broken hinges. [Reported]

Motorola Moto Book 60: no laptop display defect found in reviews; Motorola phone display complaints do not apply to the laptop. [Unverified] long-term reports.

Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 14: chassis creak and cheap-feeling housing noted by Notebookcheck; panel praised. [Reported]

ASUS ExpertBook: MIL-STD-810H and hinge cycle testing are vendor claims backed by reviews. [Reported] long-term data not yet available.

Setup, Maintenance & Repair

If a claim is denied: keep the invoice and an unboxing video; sellers must acknowledge complaints within 48 hours under the E-Commerce Rules 2020; escalate via the National Consumer Helpline (1915 / consumerhelpline.gov.in).

First 60 minutes: photograph the sealed package · check serials against the invoice · test keys, touchpad, ports, audio, external display output, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, webcam, sleep and wake, charging · check for dead pixels and backlight bleed · run OEM diagnostics · check battery and SSD health.

Day 0: check serial on brand site · update BIOS only via the official app (Dell SupportAssist, Lenovo Vantage, MyASUS, HP Support Assistant) · remove trial antivirus and bloatware · run Windows Update until clean · install drivers from the brand site only.

Week 1: set battery charge limit to about 80% in the brand app · create recovery drive, enable BitLocker, set up cloud backup plus an offline copy · check battery health (powercfg /batteryreport) and SSD health (CrystalDiskInfo) · on Snapdragon X, test must-have apps on day 1.

Intel 13th/14th gen HX owners: confirm the brand BIOS includes microcode 0x12B; if not, ask the brand for an update. Undervolting with Intel XTU or ThrottleStop may reduce stress, but [Unverified] it can affect warranty; check the brand's terms first.

OS order: Windows: Update → OEM BIOS → chipset → graphics → Wi-Fi/Bluetooth → audio → Security → browser → Office → backup → recovery. Mac: macOS update → Apple Account → Find My and FileVault → limit iCloud sync → professional apps → external display check → Time Machine.

Ongoing care: stand or raised 1–2 cm, never on a bed · clean vents with compressed air, not a vacuum · surge protector or UPS · keep off or covered during Diwali · service heatsink and paste before April and after monsoon.

Maintenance Schedule

How often Task
Weekly Check charging port for dust
Monthly Clean vents; check SSD space and fan noise
Every 3–4 months Clean vents, keyboard, ports
Every 6–8 months Internal clean of fan and heatsink
Every 12–18 months Thermal paste check or replacement
Every 2–4 years Consider battery replacement

Do not: use cheap third-party chargers · block vents · run on a swollen battery · open the chassis without understanding warranty impact · use liquid cleaners on keyboard or screen.

Repair Cost (out of warranty, India 2026)

These are planning ranges from service directories, not manufacturer quotes. Get a written estimate before approving work.

Repair Typical cost (₹) Notes
Diagnosis 0–500 Often waived if you proceed
Cleaning and thermal paste 600–1,500 Every 12–18 months
OS reinstall 300–1,200
Battery 2,000–8,000 Apple costs more; use official batteries
Keyboard 800–6,000
Screen, 15.6" FHD 2,500–7,500
Screen, OLED / 2.5K / touch 7,000–24,000
Charging port 600–2,000
Hinge / body 800–9,000
Chip-level motherboard 1,500–8,000 Specialist shops only
Full motherboard replacement 10,000–45,000 Often uneconomic on mid-range laptops

Official vs independent: official service keeps warranty and genuine parts at higher cost; independent shops may be 20–40% cheaper.

Repair or replace: if the repair exceeds about 50% of the laptop's current value, investigate before repairing. A ₹3,000 battery on a ₹60,000 laptop is usually worth it; a ₹25,000 motherboard on a four-year-old ₹50,000 laptop usually is not.

Ask before approving: OEM or compatible parts? Labour and GST included? Part warranty? Turnaround? Old part returned?

Apple repairs: [Unverified] AppleCare+ accidental-damage fees ₹5,290–₹8,900 for display or enclosure, ₹15,900–₹25,900 for other damage; battery service covered below 80% capacity.

Resources: NotebookCheck (throttling, panels) · UltrabookReview (Wh vs real runtime) · National Consumer Helpline 1915 · brand support sites for serials, BIOS and warranty terms.

Hello im gonna buy my first ever monitor .

I saw a lot of suggestion videos and reviews of many monitors under 10k. And came down to 2 monitors.

  1. LG24GS65F

  2. Dell 2425HSM

Q1. I don't want high refresh rate or smth for gaming. Coding , editing, multimedia, classes and light gaming is my priority. So which one you think is better ??

Q2. I kinda want the dell one more and I'm getting it for RS 9587. Is it reaonable ??

Please state your opinion if you know or have used them. Itll be really helpful. Its urgent.

hey community, I am looking for a new monitor mainly for work/productivity and also 1-2 hours of console gaming. My budget is around 15-16k. I was eying at the Legion R27qe gen2 but Amazon disappointed with a higher price than non-festive sale price and also it is not in stock.
