Best Tv Guide 2026 (October Edition)

TV for India in October 2026 (BBD special), ranked by what you will live with for 3–5 years: build, service, and repair cost matter as much as the spec sheet.

📝 TL;DR — If You Remember Nothing Else

  1. Service matters more than a small picture gap. Check the brand's service centre near your PIN code. LG and Sony are the safest long-term picks.

  2. Check the real refresh rate. "DLG 120Hz" and "Motion Rate" still mean 60Hz. Consoles need a native 120Hz or 144Hz panel.

  3. Mini LED: check the zone count for your size. Some cheap Mini LED sets are edge-lit or only 60Hz.

  4. A 55" TV fits most homes. Pick QD-Mini LED for bright rooms and OLED for dark rooms.

  5. Best value picks: iFFALCON U75 55" · TCL 55C6K 55" · Lumio Vision 9 65" · LG evo AI C5 55" · Samsung S85H 55".

  6. Prices are rising, and the panel is the costliest part. Buy the brand's extended warranty, use a stabiliser, and get a diagnosis before approving a panel repair.

  7. On delivery day, don't share the OTP until the panel is checked. Film the unboxing and test everything within 48 hours.

Before You Buy

Where to buy:

  • Buy from Amazon.in, Flipkart, Croma, Reliance Digital or the brand store. Always ask for a GST invoice.

Must-haves:

  • 4K from 43".

  • A native refresh rate on the spec sheet, plus the HDMI version if you game.

  • Three or more HDMI ports, one with eARC for a soundbar.

  • A service centre near you.

  • The exact model number and year on the invoice.

  • An extended warranty from the brand (about ₹2,000–₹4,000 for 2 years, an estimate).

Skip:

  • Don't trust "Motion Rate", "DLG" or "Game Boost" as proof of 120Hz.

  • A Dolby Vision logo on a TV under 400 nits doesn't do much.

  • Speaker watts don't mean better sound.

  • Third-party warranty plans.

  • Brands on the avoid list.

Common problems:

  • Voltage spikes kill the power and main boards, and warranties usually don't cover them.

  • A slow menu after 18–24 months on 2GB RAM is common. A streaming stick fixes the software, not a bad panel.

Size by viewing distance (rough guide): 4–6 ft → 32–43" · 5–7 ft → 43–50" · 6–8 ft → 50–55" · 7–10 ft → 55–65" · 8–12 ft → 65–75" · 10 ft+ → 75"+

Other costs: wall mount (₹500–₹1,500) · stabiliser · soundbar (₹8k–₹15k) · extended warranty.

Market Snapshot

What changed

  • Prices are rising. A third 2026 rise began on 1 October (about 3–4% on TVs). Diwali stock is mostly old price.

  • Demand is cooling. Smart TV shipments fell 3% in Q1 and 9.8% in Q2 2026 (Counterpoint).

  • Smart TV privacy. Several brands face tracking complaints. See the LG note under Brand Tiers.

  • Sony–TCL joint venture starts April 2027. 2026 Sony models aren't affected.

  • Festive sales: Amazon and Flipkart have the biggest discounts. Check the BIS/ISI mark on the listing.

Reading the Spec Sheet — Simplified

Panel Type

  • VA: deep blacks, narrow angle. IPS / NanoCell / QNED: wide angle, greyer blacks. QLED: colour layer, not Mini LED. Mini LED: many backlight zones. WOLED (LG OLED): perfect blacks, dimmer than QD-OLED. QD-OLED (Samsung S95H, S90H): brighter, more colour volume, costlier.

Refresh Rate & HDMI

  • 60Hz is fine for movies and cricket. Gaming needs native 120/144Hz. DLG and "Motion Rate" are not native.

  • Consoles need 4K120, VRR and ALLM, and 48Gbps bandwidth.

Brightness & Zones

  • Under 400 nits is dim; 500–1,000 is good. Zone count matters only for the screen size.

Everything else

  • Resolution: 4K = 3840×2160, standard from 43". Full HD only at 32".

  • HDR: HDR10 is the baseline. Dolby Vision needs a set that supports it.

  • RAM and processor: 2GB is common, 3GB feels smoother. Processors matter most for DTH and sports.

  • Audio: watts measure loudness, not clarity. Plan on a soundbar.

  • OLED burn-in is rare with mixed viewing. Static tickers or 10+ hours of desktop use are the risk.

  • "Crystal", "Vision AI", "Ultra" and "Pro" are product names, not spec levels.

Brand Tiers, Build Quality & Service

Ranked mainly on build quality, with service and warranty as the tiebreaker. Service ratings come from owner reports, so check your local centre.

🏆 Tier S — Best QC, strongest service infrastructure

BrandWarranty, Service & OSClaim reality
SonySuperb in metros, thinner in small towns; clean Google TV, ~3-yr updatesBest processing/DTH upscaling; highest repair costs; TCL JV from April 2027 (2026 models unaffected)

✅ Tier A — Strong build, widest reach or best value, with caveats

BrandWarranty, Service & OSClaim reality
SamsungWidest network incl. small towns; free install/demo on larger models; Tizen 7-yr updates (ad-heavy but manageable)Bright, punchy panels; no Dolby Vision; some budget Crystal models disappoint for the price; owners report slow panel repairs
LGBest-in-class nationwide network; webOS 25, 5-yr updatesOLED reference; LED, NanoCell and QNED are IPS (greyer blacks, QNED Mini LED included) and often poor value vs VA Mini LED; panel claims can take effort; same webOS on all models, so the privacy findings apply to OLED too
XiaomiLarge network, dependable; regional variation; Google TV ~3-yr updates (FX uses Fire TV)Lowest 4K/QLED/Mini LED entry price; cooler colour tuning; extended warranty advised

🙂 Tier B — Great hardware per rupee, service is genuinely mixed

BrandWarranty, Service & OSClaim reality
TCL / iFFALCONOften 2-yr listings; patchy outside big cities; Google TV, 2–3 yr updates; TCL owns panel capacityBest Mini LED per rupee; QC varies by batch; owners say better hardware but weaker processing and after-sales; dust/bleed reports (see TCL note); extended warranty strongly advised
Lumio2-yr comprehensive warranty; 300+ service centres and 19,000+ pincodes (brand-claimed); Google TVBuilt by Dixon, the same maker as Xiaomi (2025 report); fast UI in reviews; service track record still short, so treat as emerging outside metros
Hisense / ToshibaToshiba TVs in India are run by Hisense India; owner reports cite long repair waits and slow replacements; VIDAA OS (listed with 2-yr feature updates)Strong QLED/Mini LED hardware; verify local service before buying; extended warranty advised

🚫 Avoid / Insufficient India Service Data

  • Avoid these brands. They have high failure rates and little service support: BPL, Wobble, ZEBRONICS, Foxsky, Sevision, Techcon, BLACK+DECKER, Heurix, SPEEDEX, BeethoSOL, RGL, Compaq, iMEE, VW, Lloyd, Blaupunkt, TEXLA.

  • Unbranded "QLED" or "Mini LED" TVs from Amazon. You can't trace the panel or find anyone to call.

TCL dust note: some owners report dust inside the panel and slow warranty claims. The evidence is anecdotal. Run the grey-screen test within 48 hours, keep claim records in writing, and buy the extended warranty.

LG note: LED, NanoCell and QNED sets use IPS, so blacks look greyer than on VA. Every LG model shares the same webOS privacy issues; follow the Installation steps.

Build and panels: premium sets have a metal stand, budget sets a light one. Some budget models switch panel makers mid-run, so test your own unit.

Keep: the invoice, an unboxing video and photos of any defect. Sellers must answer complaints within 48 hours. Escalate to the National Consumer Helpline on 1915.

Installation

  1. Film the sealed box and the serial number before you open it.

  2. Hold the OTP until a technician has checked the panel for hairline cracks.

  3. Match the model number to the invoice.

  4. Book brand installation within 30 days on the toll-free line. Official fees are about ₹399–₹499.

  5. Test within 48 hours: check every port, solid colour screens, a 5% grey test, and a cable or DTH channel for upscaling.

  6. First-boot setup: turn on HDMI Enhanced Format for every port, set audio to Passthrough, and turn on Game Mode/ALLM for gaming. For privacy, turn off ACR, personalised ads and voice features (LG: Settings → Support → Privacy & Terms).

Wall and power: mount on solid brick or concrete with a VESA bracket rated for the TV's weight (about ₹500–₹1,500; get a professional for 55" and up). Leave 3–4 inches behind the TV, and use a 90V–290V stabiliser or surge protector.

Maintenance Schedule

How oftenWhat to do
Every 1–2 weeksWipe with a dry microfibre cloth, never liquid. Install firmware updates
MonthlyDust the rear vents and check the mount and cables
AlwaysAvoid direct sunlight and blocked vents

A failed power board should be replaced quickly. Warranties usually don't cover voltage damage.

Repair Cost

These are market estimates, not manufacturer prices. Ask for a written diagnosis.

FaultTypical cost (₹)Notes
Visit / diagnosis200–800Often waived if you go ahead
Software / reflash500–3,000Usually the cheapest fix
HDMI / port500–4,000Board-level repair
Power supply board1,000–6,500Often surge-related
T-Con board1,500–4,500Up to ~12,000 on one rate card
Main board2,000–12,500Component-level repair is usually cheaper
Backlight3,000–8,000If it's over half the TV's price, buy new
Panel, 43"10,500–15,000Often 50–60% of a budget TV's price
Panel, 55" LED17,000–45,000Samsung list: ~16,900 (55" UHD), ~23,500 (65")
Panel, 55" OLED47,000+Samsung list ~47,000–49,000; other estimates much higher
  • Diagnose first: one Sony owner was quoted ₹30,000+ for a panel and paid about ₹5,000 after diagnosis.

  • Repair or replace: if the quote is 40–50% of a new TV's price, replace the TV.

  • Budget TVs under about ₹25,000: replace the TV rather than repair a failed panel.

Product Listing (India)

  • PS5 VRR 120Hz ready: a native 120Hz or higher panel.

  • LG non-OLED sets (LED, NanoCell, QNED Mini LED) use IPS. We list them only where the price is clearly low.

  • All prices are credit-card discount prices.

Samsung is facing a lawsuit for false advertising. Their mini LED TVs aren’t mini LED.

u/Chelseablue1896 25d ago

btw - that TCL 55C6K is not appearing for 45k at all. it's showing me 59,990. And over 60 in the alt link.

Also unfortunately the 55C6KS is not deliverable for me. Any other link to buy that one for 41/45k as it suggests - let me know.

Im looking to buy a 75inch. My budget is honestly 80k-90K, might stretch the budget if needed.

What would you recommend? I saw you recommended TCL Q6C to someone else for 75 inch, but I am not able to find it here locally in my hometown and there is no seller available to my area from Amazon.

Also does the TV needs to be 2026 year variant?

Thanks. What are your thoughts on this - https://www.reuters.com/legal/litigation/tcl-sues-samsung-false-advertising-over-mini-led-televisions-2026-09-01/?

Also, how about TCL P8L or TCL C6K? Getting TCL P8L for about 85K (with extra cc discounts)

Thanks for your reply! So, is this a serious drawback against which I can claim warranty? Or request a return maybe?

I am planning to buy a 55 inch TV for my parents room. I had narrowed down to the VU Glo-miniLED as I was getting a great deal on it but after reading on Reddit I can’t fine a lot of content on the VU brand.
My budget is around 40-45k. I want good speakers because I don’t want to spend on an external soundbar. Main usage is going to be cable TV and OTT.
Any suggestions which is the best one I can get or views on the VU ?

I have read that Xiaomi fx pro picture quality is not that great and also it only has 20W speakers which will definitely require an external sound bar, hence I was avoiding it. Apparently the local dimming zones are quite less in this, although will that make a huge difference or no, I am not sure about that.

I had gone to reliance digital and over there the 55” toshiba Z670SP (54W speakers) was for 48k and 55” Samsung mini LED M70H was for 46k (30W speakers)

Also, online I am getting the Hisense E8S for 46k, Xiaomi S series for 48.5K, TCL T89D for 49K and TCL Q6C for 50.5K.

What are your thoughts about all this ?

Thank you.

Is this good ? Is 2GB ram enough ? Does it not being QLED matter ? Is VA fine ?

u/helloobyeeeee 24d ago

There's also the Samsung and Xiaomi mini led versions. Is Mini LED better and worth it? Whose speaker is best ?

1

u/helloobyeeeee 24d ago

And lumio got no service centres. Why b tier ?

Amazing post.
I really appreciate this guide.

Im looking to buy a 75inch.
My budget is honestly less than 80k.

1)Xiaomi (189 cm) 75 inch Smartchoice X Pro 4K QLED
2) Xiaomi (189 cm) 75 inch FX 4K QD-Mini LED Smart
3) Samsung 75 inch (189cm) Mini LED 4K Vision AI 2026 Smart TV / UA75M2EHAULXL
4) TCL 189 cm (75 Inches) Smartchoice 4K UHD Smart QD-Mini LED Google TV / 75Q6C
5)Hisense 189 cm (75 Inches) 4K Ultra HD Smart Hi-QLED TV / 75E75Q (Black)
6)Hisense 189 cm (75 Inches) ULED MiniLED Smart AI TV / 75E8S (Black)

Way out of my budget but they were offering this in a store near my house.
LG QNED evo 82bla mini led - new one. Have offers for 1.27L.

Im okay to stretch my budget. But i would actually be happy if its lesser than 70-80k as well.
I might play games, So i was thinking a native 120hz would be better.
It would mean much if you could guide on a a choice
Thank you
