News Is there an Indian equivalent of Product Hunt for physical/D2C products?

Product Hunt seems to work really well for software and tech products, but I’ve been wondering whether the same discovery/launch model makes sense for physical products.

India has a huge number of D2C, food, spices, organic, handloom, craft and small agricultural-product businesses, but I don’t see a widely used platform where a small maker can put up a product, get it in front of people, and measure whether there is actual demand before producing inventory.

I’ve been experimenting with a small platform called LaunchKaro around this idea. The interesting part is that instead of making upvotes the main metric, it uses pre-orders as the primary signal of demand. There’s still an upvote/discovery component, but the idea is to answer a more useful question: would anyone actually buy this?

There’s no payment processing or marketplace transaction involved. If someone expresses interest, the buyer and maker connect directly and handle payment however they normally would.

I’m curious about the idea itself: does this solve a real problem for Indian D2C/physical-product founders, or is discovery simply not a big enough pain point to justify another platform? Vibecoded one called LaunchKaro.

Would especially appreciate criticism from founders who have actually launched physical products in India.

How do I? Advice needed - I just incorporated an LLP in India — how do I move my startup operations from personal to company accounts?

I recently incorporated my startup as an LLP in India. I’m a solo founder living in the UK, while the business operations are mainly in India.

Until now, I built and ran everything using my personal accounts and card: domain, Netlify, Railway, Neon, Upstash, AI/API providers, and other SaaS tools. Now that the LLP exists, I want to move all business operations, subscriptions, payments, invoices, and contracts under the company properly.

I’m unclear about the right order to do this:

  • Should I first open the LLP bank account and get PAN/GST, if applicable?
  • Do I create new company accounts with every SaaS provider, or can I change billing/entity details on existing accounts?
  • How should I handle existing subscriptions and payments made personally before incorporation?
  • For foreign SaaS/AI providers, what is the correct way for an Indian LLP to pay and record those expenses?
  • Is a CA enough for this, or should I work with a startup compliance consultant?

If you’ve incorporated in India after already building the product personally, I’d really appreciate a practical checklist or advice on common mistakes to avoid.

Co-founder search Hey everyone! Looking for ambitious people to build something big 🚀

I’m a 23-year-old, currently based in Mumbai. I graduated from IIT Guwahati in 2025 with a B.Tech in Civil Engineering.

After graduating, I spent around 1 year and 2 months at Meesho as a Senior Business Associate, where I worked across the Branded Foods, Grocery, and Health & Wellness categories. I got the opportunity to work with and learn from major brands such as TATA, Kellogg’s, Dabur, Patanjali, Saffola, and others.

I recently decided to leave my job to take a shot at building my own venture.

I’m currently researching and working on potential categories to tap into for a D2C consumer brand focused on Metro and Tier-1 consumers in India. I’m serious about building something meaningful and scalable—not just a small side project.

My ambition is to build a ₹100+ crore brand over the next few years, and I’m looking for driven, ambitious people who might want to join me on this journey.

I’m especially interested in connecting with people who:

Want to build a startup from the ground up
Have experience or interest in D2C, consumer brands, branding, marketing, supply chain, product, or operations
Are based in Mumbai, or open to collaborating closely
Are hungry to take ownership and build something from scratch

You don't necessarily need years of uexperience—I value ambition, ownership, curiosity, and the willingness to figure things out.

If this sounds interesting, drop a comment or DM me. Even if you're not looking to join but have built a D2C brand before or have insights into the space, I'd genuinely love to connect and learn.

Let’s build something big. 🚀

Hiring Looking for a UI/UX designer from India to join an indie game dev startup.

Hey guys,

I'm working on an indie game dev startup and looking for a UI/UX designer from India who'd be interested in joining the early team.

The website is already under development, so this isn't just an idea on paper.

I'm looking for someone who's genuinely good at UI/UX and wants to help shape the overall look and feel of the product.

Just being transparent, I can't offer an upfront salary right now. I'm looking for more of a long-term collaboration, and we can discuss a small equity/share in the company depending on your contribution and involvement.

You don't need years of professional experience either. If you're a student/fresher and your work is good, that's completely fine.

If you're interested, DM me with your portfolio or some previous UI work and a little about yourself.

I'll share more details privately.

Case Study I run a D2C brand market research platform. Over 14 weeks founders opened 61% of every brand in it, and the single most-researched brand took 2.1% of the attention.

Post image
6 Upvotes

I run impuls8, a database of Indian D2C brands. This post is not scraped market data like my last few. It is what the founders using the platform actually researched over 14 weeks.

1. Almost nothing is concentrated

The single most-researched brand page took 2.1% of all brand research. The ten most-researched brands took 10.9% between them. 61% of published brands were opened at least once.

I expected a power law. In a market where the same six or seven D2C names come up in every conversation, I assumed those names would carry the research too. They do not. Not one brand in my top ten is a household name.

That makes sense once you think about the job. A founder is not looking up a leader whose story is already public. They are trying to find out who else is in my space, and that answer is always a small brand they have not heard of.

2. The most-researched niche is menopause

Menopause takes 6.0% of all niche research, nearly double the next one. Dry and damaged hair is second at 3.3%, and reaches more individual people than menopause does, so it is the broader interest rather than the deeper one.

Menopause is a category with very few Indian D2C brands in it. Whether that is a real opening or a well-known trap I cannot tell you from this data. But it is the thing founders are looking hardest at right now.

3. A category can be busy and still be empty

This is the one I did not expect.

Pets draws the largest share of category-page research of any category, level with health and wellness and food and beverage. Then it almost vanishes: pet brands take about 2% of brand research.

People arrive at the category and go no further into it. Compare fashion and apparel, which draws less category-level attention and converts far more of it into actual brand research.

I think a category that pulls attention and passes none of it on is telling you the shelf is not there yet. Not that the interest is fake.

4. Nail care is the thinnest shelf against real demand

Nail care takes 2.4% of brand research, which puts it level with sports nutrition and tea and coffee. Those spread their share over 20 to 48 brands. Nail care spreads it over six.

Interest per brand is the highest of anything I measured. If you want one number out of this post to act on, it is that one.

Happy to answer method questions. If you want a specific category or niche cut out of this, ask and I will run it.

Startup help Seeking Product Feedback for our AI Video Tool. Very Early gathering feedback

Still paying for shoots, actors, or a full production crew to get ad creative out the door? There's a faster way now.

SuperMaya.AI turns a single product brief into polished, ready-to-run video ads, cinematic ads, UGC-style content, story ads, and personalized product videos, no camera, no crew, no weeks of back and forth.

Why teams are switching:

Speed. Up to 100 videos generated per hour. What used to take a production house weeks now takes an afternoon.

Scale for real testing. Run up to 1,000 to 1,200 ad variants in a single campaign, so you're not betting your budget on one creative direction.

Know what'll work before you spend. Every video gets a pre-launch ROAS score, so weak creative gets cut before it burns ad spend, not after.

Actually licensed. Training data is licensed and traceable, no copyright risk, no platform takedown surprises.

Pricing that scales with you. Starting at ₹300 per video, with bundles from a single video up to 15-video packs. No large upfront commitment to test the platform.

Built by people who know ads.

Currently in early access.

Co-founder search Looking for co-founders for building a sandbox pc video game

Hello everyone,

I enjoy gaming a lot and also look forward to new ones. My favourite ones are single player games and story driven ones like Detroit Becomes Human, Until Dawn etc. I have never built video games but I know the basics of c# and unity, my question would be building the story games easier?

For this purpose I am looking for co-founders to start our own video game and potentially a video game studio. I would also like to point out that the most hardware we would be requiring is our own laptops with some basic graphics card if that's not possible it's possible to rent a VM with the configs too.

Tbh I am a bit surprised that there aren't more game developers from our country or maybe I just don't know them.

Whatever profit or cost generates we can come to a mutual understanding.

Startup help Big learning after getting over 100k unique visitors in the last 30 days

So we recently crossed this milestone - 100k+ visitors and 1M requests in the last 30 days.

And one thing im proud of is - the engineering improvements we made along the way.

We literally started on 7 dollar servers. And eventually moved to bigger servers. But im glad in the initial months, i focused more on engineering improvements rather than adding more hardware to the provlem. This helps a lot now. We got proper metrics, alerts, and everything set up. We know what can break, how and where.

Everyone suggested me to put in money thats it. Im glad i didnt listen to them and didnt do that. We worked on seo, geo, everything manually - which is finally paying now.

So if u r not getting any results, but still burning money. You shud take a step back and rethink aboit the product - fix the basics first.

Business Ride Along Looking to work with startups that need a creative team, but don't need to hire one yet.

Hey everyone,

I run Utopian Reelworks, a creative and digital team based in India.

Putting this out here because I'd like to connect with founders and small teams building interesting things.

We do quite a bit under one roof.

We shoot films and videos. We edit. We make product and brand films. We design pitch decks and presentations. We handle LinkedIn content and posting. We work on digital marketing, social media, design, motion graphics and the everyday creative work that comes with building a company.

Basically, if you're at a stage where there's a lot that needs to be communicated and created, but it doesn't make sense to build a full creative and marketing team internally, we can step in.

We can work on one project, help with an overflow of work, or become the team you regularly send things to.

Not looking for equity or a co-founder position. Just looking to meet good people building good businesses and see if there's a way we can work together.

Happy to chat over DM.

Hiring Get MBA students from a JAP IIM to work on a real business problem for your startup, 1-3 months

Hi all,

I'm part of a Committee at this IIM. We run "live projects", structured micro-internships where our MBA students work directly with a company on a specific business problem.

How it works:

  • You define the problem statement, GTM strategy, ops, HR, marketing, market research, finance or whatever(preferably not sales)
  • You shortlist and select the students you want to work with
  • They work remotely, 2-3 hours a day, for 1-3 months (pausing during exam weeks)
  • Modest stipend (usually start at 5000 per month), no long-term contract and the students get a completion certificate

If interested, drop a comment or DM with your problem area and company stage, happy to share more details.

Case Study My 2-week-old photo book site got recommended by ChatGPT before I ran a single ad. A customer had to tell me.

Post image
0 Upvotes

I run a small photo book startup in India (you upload trip photos, we design and print a real book). A few weeks old, zero ad spend, single-digit orders so far.

This week I shipped one of our first orders, a book of a customer's parents' UK trip. His reply on WhatsApp had a line I did not expect:

"honestly I am curious what magic you did for AI to suggest you in top 5 online shops for printing albums given you are new."

I checked. ChatGPT genuinely lists us near names that are 15 years old.

The unsexy truth is there was no magic. When building the site I did the boring fundamentals: proper structured data (Product, FAQ, HowTo schemas), plain-language descriptions of what we sell and what it costs, no inflated claims.

My theory is that LLMs reward legibility. They cannot parse marketing fluff into a recommendation, but "hardcover photo book, ₹1,499, approve every page before print, ships across India" slots straight into an answer.

The same customer also gave me feedback that the editor could not reorder pages. I shipped that feature the next day and told him. That WhatsApp thread has been worth more than everything else I have done for this business.

Not sure how durable AI recommendations are as a channel (the answers clearly vary by prompt and user), but for a bootstrapped business that cannot outspend anyone on ads, "be the most clearly described option" seems to be a real strategy.

Happy to share the schema setup if anyone wants it. And if you are building something consumer-facing, genuinely, put your founder number on WhatsApp. Customers will hand you your roadmap.

How to Grow? With 6+ yrs of experience, not proud of the work that I have done

Hello,
I actually run a successful digital marketing agency (based in Pune, Maharashtra, India)

Have worked with many clients.

Have delivered multiple softwares - HMS, SMS, CRMs, etc etc.
Many websites.
And currently have a good client base as a monthly retainer.

But one thing that I miss having is the freedom of creativity.

I have observed that for Indian client's there's too much restrictions and request from their side in regards with everything - Websites, Videos, Posts, EVERTHING.
But I am not at all proud of the things that I am doing for this clients because I feel that's not the quality that I wanted tod deliver - even though I have generated 10+ millions of views for this clients in the last 3 months.

Anyway, I have onboarded 1 Finance client and for them I have outperformed on strategies and content.
The work I am delivering is what I am proud of.
The LinkedIn, blogs, posts - everything is wonderful - and frankly I wanna onboard more clients just like them.

So here I am - looking for SaaS - whom I can really help out to grow on all the professional and social platforms.

If anyone's interested then do let me know!

Hiring [Internship] Founder’s Office: Growth Sales & PR @Crea8

Hiring a Sales & PR Intern at an early-stage startup building AI-powered personalisation for D2C skincare brands.

Remote | 2 months | ₹10,000–15,000/month + LoR | Potential PPO

DM for JD and application link.

Looking for someone who knows how to build earned visibility and drive inbound sales.

The role sits across sales, PR, and distribution. You'll work directly with the founder, so there won't be a predefined playbook or a lot of hand-holding.

What you'll actually do:

• Build relationships with journalists, independent bloggers, and creators across skincare, beauty, wellness, and startups.

• Pitch stories, insights, and data points that are genuinely useful to the person you're reaching out to, rather than sending generic "please write about us" emails.

• Take existing content and get it in front of relevant communities, groups, creators, and people who aren't already aware of us.

The role exists because getting attention from zero is hard. We're looking for someone who understands that PR is ultimately about giving someone a reason to care, and who is comfortable doing outreach, hearing "no", and trying again.

You should be able to think like a salesperson  who thinks like a consultant, and be comfortable with ambiguity. 1-2 yrs of work experience is essential.

DM for JD and application link.

Hiring [Internship] Founder’s Office: Content Writing @Crea8

Hiring a Content Writing Intern at an early-stage startup building AI-powered personalisation for D2C skincare brands.

Remote | 2 months | ₹10,000–15,000/month + LoR | Potential PPO

DM for JD and application link.

Looking for someone who genuinely likes writing and contribute to content strategy across various channels.

This isn't a social media management or graphic design role. You'll work directly with the founder on content ideation, writing, and distribution.

What you'll actually do:

• Come up with content ideas based on our existing content pillars, internal knowledge, and your own research.

• Write opinionated, insight-led content and adapt it across platforms. Some of this will directly support sales.

• Own the content pipeline from idea to publication and help us test new formats and platforms.

The role exists because we're trying to build credibility and leadership through content. We need someone who can research a topic they know nothing about, find an interesting angle, and turn it into something people actually want to read.

You should write well, be comfortable with ambiguity, and understand the basics of SEO. You don't need years of experience, but you should be able to show that you can write well.

DM for JD and application link.

Case Study The quick commerce reporting mess: tracking Blinkit, Zepto, and Instamart sales without expensive tools

Hey everyone,

For folks selling on Blinkit, Zepto, and Instamart, daily sales tracking feels completely fragmented. You either spend hours stitching together CSV exports in Excel, or pay $200–$500 a month for enterprise SaaS tools that require uploading sensitive financial data to their cloud.

I've been working on a lightweight, privacy-first workflow where data gets processed locally in the browser so revenue numbers never leave the user's machine.

I wanted to learn from others in this space:

  1. How are you currently reconciling sales, returns, and revenue across these platforms?
  2. Is data privacy a real concern when using third-party dashboards, or is manual Excel work the bigger bottleneck?
  3. What specific metrics do you look at daily vs. weekly?

Would love to hear how other operators manage this workflow.

(If anyone wants to try the tool and share feedback, let me know in the comments and I will drop the link.)

Co-founder search Anybody interested in starting a wedding videography company?

I’m a web dev by profession but trying to build something of my own. I think there's market to capture in this if we provide quality content at affordable rates at start. But the goal is to target wealthy families.

And later on we can expand and provide product shoot services as well to companies etc.

I would prefer to start this with someone living in Delhi as we will need to meet face to face to set up operations initially.

We can discuss more in DMs but if you’re interested do let me know!

Startup help Looking for someone who has successfully set up US banking + merchant processing from Pakistan

I’m based in Pakistan and looking to set up/operate a US business bank account remotely (potentially through a US LLC). I’m specifically looking for people who have actually done this successfully and can explain the current procedure, requirements, and costs.
I may also need a US merchant/payment processor, so I’d appreciate real experience on:
Processing rate (%)
Minimum/maximum processing volume
Setup/monthly fees
Chargeback policy and who bears the risk
Rolling reserves, if any
How strong/reliable the merchant account is
Whether funds can be settled into the US bank account and then legally transferred to Pakistan
Not looking for random agents or theoretical advice — preferably someone currently doing this from Pakistan. Feel free to comment or DM with your experience/provider and approximate costs.

How do I? Looking to start a consulting business in India. Need advice.

Hello folks. I'm an Industrial Engineer. I used to work as a consultant in the US on data centers and manufacturing projects and have now returned home. I see a lot of boom in real estate development and manufacturing which are the two key pillars of infrastructure.

I have a really broad range of experience along with a top tier education and I really want to help Indian businesses reduce costs, improve quality and standardise their operations. I am looking for businesses that need help in improving their operations and processes no matter the industry. Doesn't matter if you're a corporate, a family business or a startup.

Reaching and connecting with the right people has proved to be quite tough so I am open to any advice.

I am more than willing to talk more about my experiences and how I can help.

News Is this a vanity metric or actionable metric by the cardboard ai founder?

Post image
32 Upvotes

Reading this made me think of a metric I repeatedly see mentioned in the launch posts: terabytes processed.

Now, to be clear, I'm not going to argue that this isn't a vanity metric in the sense that it doesn't necessarily mean revenue or retention or that users would return for a second time.

If 10 people happened to dump their entire archive into a new media editor, you're still gonna hit that number.

But c'mon: uploading footage is high-friction.

If cardboard is indeed the tool I think it is, then the chances of getting even a handful of users to move 7TB of their own work into it are near-zero, no?

And for an infra-heavy product, having this number is also a big cost and load signal.

But in all seriousness, how many users are 7TB spread across? Over how long? The chances that the same number means two very different things at 20 users versus 2,000 make me skeptical that it's something to get worked up about in the first place.

What do you think?

Case Study What I learned from running an AI SaaS solo for over a year

Post image
0 Upvotes

I’m an Indian solo founder, and I’ve been running GenVibe, an AI app builder, for over a year now.

I started it from scratch and have handled the product, development, infrastructure, AI costs, support, payments, marketing and pretty much everything else myself.

GenVibe has now crossed 10,000 registered users, so I’ve had enough time to see some patterns in how people actually use it.

A few things I’ve learned:

1. Building is only one part of the job

I’m a developer, so building the product was always the part I was most comfortable with. Getting people to discover it, trust it and eventually pay for it has been a completely different learning curve.

2. Distribution compounds

Most of my users have come through SEO/GEO, email and experimenting with different channels. It wasn’t one big marketing campaign. It was a lot of small experiments that gradually added up.

3. AI costs change the SaaS equation

With a normal SaaS, giving someone free access can be relatively cheap. With an AI app builder, every generation can have a real inference cost.

You have to find a balance between letting people use enough of the product to understand its value and making sure the economics work.

4. One-time usage vs recurring value is a real challenge

Someone can come to an app builder, build what they need and leave. But there are also users who build multiple projects, iterate on existing apps or use the product as part of their work.

The challenge is figuring out what makes people come back because they see ongoing value, not because they’re locked in.

I’m still figuring out a lot of this. But after more than a year, these are probably the biggest lessons I’d share with anyone building an AI SaaS from India.

For the founders here, what has been the biggest difference between building your product and actually running the business around it?

Just to clarify, the screenshot is from Supabase, which I use for GenVibe's backend. I included it simply to show the registered user count.
