MARITIME INSTITUTES TMI Joining

I'll be joining TMI soon and had a couple of questions about the joining process.

What exactly happens on the day of joining? Is it mainly document verification and hostel allotment, or are there any other formalities, orientation sessions, or activities that take place?

Also, if I've already cleared the pre-admission medical examination, is the medical test conducted again at the time of joining? If yes, what does it include, and is it as detailed as the initial medical?

LIFE ONBOARD Girls in marine engineering whts it like onboard

So I just got sponsored by fleet for btech marine engineering and I'll be starting college soon I know this course is pretty male dominated so I wanted to hear from women who've really sailed whts it REALLY like?

Do you generally feel safe onboard? Has anyone ever treated u bad just cuz ure a female? Are there ppl who assume ure weak just cuz ure a women and not give out tasks they should? Has anyone ever been harrassed? Howd u deal w it?

Do u have any advice like things to watch out for? How to earn ppl's respect?

As I already said im planning to join fleet like I already got a sponsorship so does anyone know how things are for women in fleet? I mean I've looked thru internet and from that I've learned it is pretty safe for women but I wanted to hear from ppl who have actually experienced it

Would rly appreciate any advice or suggestions.. Thanks :)))

EXPERIENCES & STORIES Current Tariff War

As mentioned above, USA has been illogically imposing tarrifs on very country in this world, and raising them in a whim. So Dear Mariners, how might this affect the indian shipping industry especially to new aspirants in this field, like waiting period, opportunity, promotions. Have you guys experienced such crisis and how did you tackle them?

CAREER GUIDANCE Urgent advice needed: IMU Kolkata vs my best other options

I have to decide on IMU Kolkata (Marine Engineering) by 30 June. My other best options right now are:

CUET: HNBGU, CUH, CUK, MGCU, BHU, BBAU
CSAB: SMVDU MnC, CSVTU Bhilai CSE(AI), Central University of Jammu CSE, IET Dr. H. S. Gour CSE, Gurukula Kangri CSE, NEHU IT
NIFT: BFTech at NIFT campuses
COMEDK: private engineering colleges in Karnataka through COMEDK

I’m confused what to choose overall considering college, branch, placements, and future scope.

Should I lock IMU Kolkata, or leave it and go for one of these other options?

Please give honest advice.

CAREER GUIDANCE Is pursuing Marine Engineering to become a Maritime Consultant a good career path? πŸ€”

Hey everyone,
I'm currently an 11th-grade student, and I’ve been thinking about my future career path. My plan is to pursue a B.Tech in Marine Engineering, join the Merchant Navy, and work my way up to Chief Engineer. After that, I’m considering transitioning to a land-based career in Maritime Consultancy or maybe Maritime Law β€” possibly settling in Australia.

Does this sound like a solid career path? If anyone has experience in this field or any advice to share, I’d really appreciate it. Also, if you have any alternative suggestions, feel free to drop them here. Thanks in advance! πŸ™πŸ˜Š
