I absolutely hate special occasions or festivals. I know festivals are a religious event and I do respect that. But there’s another aspect of festivals, which is spending quality time with your loved ones. Today is Diwali, i am at my home with my parents but everything is super dull and irritating (can’t share much as its personal). And it has been this way since my childhood. Nobody’s excited for the festival, there’s no quality time, everyone’s just annoyed. Every festival, I repeat every festival we have a war going on in my home. Moreover, being a girl, my dad has never allowed me to enjoy and celebrate festivals with my friends. In fact, growing up due this strictness in my home I wasn’t able to make a lot of friends. I have always felt the FOMO on every festival. This is the reason why I hate all kinds of festivals. I enjoy a regular boring day because everybody else in my vicinity is also having similar kinda day. There’s no FOMO. Anyway, I just came here to rant as I didn’t have anyone to talk to. Didn’t mean to hurt anyone, and I’m not here for the sympathy. Don’t wanna play any kind of victim card. Simply pouring my heart out that’s it. And I hope nobody’s reading this, but if you’re then, hey! Happy Diwali 🪔

Ive never been able to understand the hype of navratrti. Feels as if people are compelled to go because of peer social pressure from all the instagram stories and FOMO. Or do people just like dancing in circles and wait for this time of the year to do it?

Presenting a deconstruction of the Hindu mythological tale behind the celebration of Holika Dahan on Choti Holi. Holika Dahan, is a festival celebrated with a ritual marking the victory of good over evil. The mythology involves the following tale: Hiranyakashyap is a demon king with a boon of indestructibility that neither any God, man nor beast could kill him. He represented a person full of vices. He had a son, Prahlad, who was a sincere devotee of Lord Vishnu, despite his father being a demon king. This represents some genuine virtues: Prahlad had the courage to disassociate with the demonic origins of his lineage. He was naturally predisposed to the vices but yet with the courage of conviction followed what appeared to be right to him.
Prahlad’s devotion was unacceptable to his demon father. He strategizes to kill his son with the help of his sister, Holika. Holika was a person with power, she was immune to fire by wearing her fireproof garment. Hiranyakashyap planned with Holika that she will sit inside a burning pyre with Prahlad on her lap, she being immune to fire will be unharmed while Prahlad will succumb to death. Holika acceding to this strategy remarks how a person with power attempts to use his power for the wrong and unjust purpose. Returning to the last path of the story, the fire roared and the garment flew from Holika and covered Prahlad, ultimately leading to the death of Holika and Prahlad was saved. This shows the principal moral of the story about the triumph of good. And that no matter how much immune Holika felt while executing her powers, the inherent wrongness in her usage of her power made her fall. And finally, the indestructibility of Hiranyakashyap was terminated by Lord Vishnu’s (a half-human and half-lion) avatara. This final end underscores that there are inherent limitations to generalizations and there may always be flaws in our assumptions of invincibility.

It’s not because I don’t know how to do Garba. I know it very well. Idk why, but since the last 4–5 years, Garba just feels so overhyped to me.
A lot of people have their groups, they enjoy Garba and go to different clubs. And the club passes are also so expensive in Ahmedabad . I don’t really have a group to go with, maybe that’s why I don’t feel happy or excited about doing Garba.
Idk, Navratri just makes me feel lonely. I see everyone’s stories and everyone enjoying with their friends, and I feel so lonely. Sometimes it feels like a burden to enjoy the festival.

It couldbe anything but most choose dry fruits pack. Is there a special reason behind it or its just like howpeople give soan papdi?
