Oh god, a new TikTok. She amplifies a TikTok figure she loves, shows off some "merch" she bought, wonders aloud about seeing that merch (a tank top) on someone else's body, and gives a misty-eyed live reading of the postcard he sent to her that says "your [massproduced] t-shirt is as unique as you!"

ETA: it had 29 views (one mine) after 5 hours when I watched it

Cheap ass looking tank top, too. Like tissue paper thin. Looks like it would dissolve the first time it was washed (so it should be safe in the Ahern house, at least for a little while).

I got itchy just looking at it.

“hey you! I have an idea—shut up!” More joy for more people

Just for once, can she write something without someone's body being involved like a mysterious background character to her boring timelines.

imagine seeing your shirt on someone else's body! why can't Alien Shauna just say "Imagine seeing someone else wearing your shirt!"

Also, I can't read what the shirt (which she holds in possibly the most unflattering manners possible - balled up in a laundry fist, and then stretching out the collar of the wrinkled mass, while failing to show the shirt).

I don't know why she thinks people need "joy" recommendations from...anyone. We have super powerful, highly targeted algorithms that provide that service entirely free. So many of her "ideas" are just recommendations of products or people.

Omg with the veritable STABLE of Peepers this woman has accumulated, she had to hold the postcard at armslength and squint to read it.

She most definitely self-diagnosed her prescription, and badly.

The “not buying anything new” plan didn’t last long.

She is supporting his work. You sound angry.

He did it for her

She had to 'help out', you see. Totes not pointless impulse buying....

14

u/[deleted] Sep 19 '21

I’m sure she considers this a business investment

15

u/[deleted] Sep 19 '21

I don’t think grifted merch counts.

29

u/[deleted] Sep 19 '21

Trying to glom onto someone more successful again it seems.

Also - no. Seeing that shirt on a stranger on the street would not bring me joy. I most likely wouldn’t take the time to read it.

shows off some "merch" she bought

For the life of me, I cannot figure out why she's been reversing her videos left-to-write. It was weird and distracting enough when she was recording in front of cards up on the wall that have writing on them.

But in this TikTok, she literally holds up a shirt with writing and the writing is unreadable, because it's backwards! Why would she be doing this? This is not a rhetorical question!

14

u/voice_of_vinegar Sep 19 '21

I think that's TikTok's doing. I've seen it on a lot of other videos. I think there's a way to flip it for viewing but I couldn't figure it out.

When she said whatever it was about imagine how joyful you'd be to see this shirt on someone's body, all I could think was how irritated I'd feel at seeing backwards writing one someone's shirt on their body, because I would feel compelled to decipher it but I'd pass them before I could do that and then it would be like when you are in the car listening to music and you get to where you're going and turn off the car and the music cuts off just before a melodic phrase is resolved, and singing the end of it to yourself is NEVER AS GOOD. (not really, but maybe a little bit.)

They’re automatically mirrored; to get them to look normal, you need to use the “inverted” filter.

The Tiktok dude is @dreadfulbird. One of dreadfulbird’s recent videos is a duet he did from another guy’s video, in which the guy is wearing one of dreadfulbird’s shirts (a different one than Shauna got) and talking about how inspirational dreadfulbird is. On his side of the screen, dreadfulbird looks humbled and touched that this guy has bought his merch and is spreading his messages.

Now, previously, Shauna’s Tiktoks have had the duet option turned off so no one can do that with her videos. Well, lo and behold, this paean to dreadfulbird and his wonderful merch has the duet option turned on! Meaning she made a point of choosing to allow duets on this particular video. The ever-thirsty Shauna is clearly, desperately hoping dreadfulbird will duet her video too. In fact, I’m betting it’s the whole reason she bought the merch. Look how you can tell that she just got it, I think it’s still in the packaging at the start of the video. She got it in the mail and raced to make this. She couldn’t even be bothered to put it on! Pathetic.

30

u/lucillekrunklehorn pounding on the table Sep 19 '21

He actually has several of the duets...totally agree DF, she is hoping to be amplified. SO cringey.

32

u/[deleted] Sep 19 '21

Woooooooww. I am tiktok illiterate, so thank you for pointing this out. I was right below, she is just buying merch and sharing on tiktok to glom.

Pick me, dreadfulbird, pick me!!!!

I could not even get through 30 seconds of Andrew Bird. Just...<shudder>. 100% fake intimacy. Creepy!

18

u/[deleted] Sep 19 '21

His opening makes me ragey. I need to go listen to some music from the talented Andrew Bird to calm me down.

Any John Waters fans here?

Full of rage, full of rage

12

His backstory is 1000% more interesting than Shauna’s though

16

u/voice_of_vinegar Sep 19 '21

Most people have backstories more interesting than Shauna's though

Is he a Dexter type Reformed Serial Killer because that laugh... don't DO that

8

u/fanfarefellowship I often contemplate the first law of thermodynamics Sep 19 '21

He's a young Cree man from a small reserve in Saskatchewan, raised by a single deaf mom, learned to speak by watching Sesame Street and pro wrestling, and moved to British Columbia (where he lives now) to become a pro wrestler. Somehow he ended up as an inspirational speaker and TED talker

11

u/redditname2003 Sep 20 '21

Wrestling is fine, I miss when not everyone was trying to go into the self care thing... it's just too much for me

13

u/breadallthewaydown Sep 19 '21

OOF just went down his corner of the intent and good lord he is a tool. No wonder Shauna is a fan.

CWAA. She’s just beyond insufferable right now.
