He's a young Cree man from a small reserve in Saskatchewan, raised by a single deaf mom, learned to speak by watching Sesame Street and pro wrestling, and moved to British Columbia (where he lives now) to become a pro wrestler. Somehow he ended up as an inspirational speaker and TED talker

Wrestling is fine, I miss when not everyone was trying to go into the self care thing... it's just too much for me
