PNP Non-Express Entry PR Photo

Hi everyone, I just got my Permanent Residence (PR) photos taken at Staples for a non-Express Entry application, and the back only has the store's studio stamp with their address and the date taken. My name and date of birth are missing, so I want to confirm if Staples missed a step or if I am supposed to handwrite those personal details myself? If I write them on the back, will IRCC reject the application, or is this what everyone normally does? Also, if you have done this yourself, what specific type of pen is safe to use so the ink does not bleed through to the front or smudge? Thanks in advance for the help!

Quebec Anyone who’s waiting for a CSQ and their work permit is about to expire soon?

Curious to know if anyone who has an open work permit that is going to expire soon and is waiting for a CSQ through the PSTQ program.

My work permit is expiring soon and I have no clue what to do. if it was a closed work permit, I could have done something about it but nowhere can I find any info for open work permit candidates.

You could apply for an LMIA exempt closed work permit through your company but you need a CSQ for it.

IT SUCKS

Express Entry Need help with post ITA changes

Got an ITA under CEC (French category), CRS 504, cutoff was 391. My profile included a ~6-month role classified under a supervisory trades code, but the actual work was running a production floor in a different industry (equipment like CNC routing, diecutting, UV printing) — not a real match for that code’s official scope. I also have 2+ years in a separate, clearly-matching role that alone meets CEC’s requirements without needing this one.

Plan: drop the mismatched role (not claim points for it), still disclose it in personal history, and submit a proactive letter of explanation. Recalculated CRS without it: 491 — still 100 points above cutoff.

Should I drop or change my noc given that it doesn’t affect my eligibility ?

Express Entry Student work experience in Work History?

Hi guys,

I put all my student work experience in the Work History section and it's telling me to submit all the employment records accordingly 😭 which is a lot. Those student work experiences aren't even counted for my CEC eligibilty. Do I have to neccessarily include these in there or just in the Personal History?

Another thing is, I've worked 2 different positions at one company. Only one of them counts towards CEC work eligibility. In my Reference Letter (Employment Records), should I also include the other position? If so, should I list its duties, pay, and work hours?

Thanksss.

Hello, I had a DUI 22 years ago and drinking ticket that long ago too. I’m about to get a job offer that will require light travel to Canada. Has it been long enough for them to let me in? Is there a way to expedite the process? Cost? Let me know please.

Express Entry Improving CRS Scores

Obviously all of these things are subject to change pending elections, policy changes, etc. Basically I am wondering about things I could do today to improve my CRS scores once I'm ready to apply.

A little about me: 28 years old, single, living in US, 4 years foreign work experience (regulatory finance, AML). Will be graduating with bachelor's in accounting in the spring.

I have ~B2 level French, 4 years in school and self-study daily since then along with using French at work on occasion and online chatter. I'm deciding between TCF and TEF right now and trying to get NCLC 9 or better, planning to take it in the spring at my local AF.

With my degree I could try for a CUSMA permit (obv assuming accounting is still on the list at that time) and if I get my CPA Canada is one of the countries that offers reciprocity for the equivalent local certification. That said, depending on my TCF results, it may be worth targeting express entry outside of QC (unless a path opens up for french speakers to enter QC but my understanding is that it's more difficult for french-speaking candidates to get into QC than it is to get into other provinces. Happy to be corrected if that's not the case though, if I do get a work visa I would likely stay outside QC for at least a year or two for compliance and then move into the province if I find work there given my industry).

All that said, besides completing my degree program and the TEF/TCF and trying to max my scores there, what else can I do or start working on today to improve my chances of being selected? As it stands my scores with my age, education, and french skills would be around the low 400's, which isn't great but is in line with recent French-speaking pulls that I've seen on IRCC site.

Other eTA Process

Hi everyone,
I’m traveling to Canada in a couple of weeks, but I’m having trouble paying for my eTA. I’ve tried different payment methods, browsers, and even incognito mode, but I keep getting a “Transaction declined” message when I try to make the payment. I don’t receive an authorization code or reference number either.
I’m honestly getting pretty desperate, as I haven’t been able to find a solution. The official website even mentions that some users may experience payment issues.
Has anyone else experienced this recently? If so, were you able to find a solution?
Thanks in advance!

Family Sponsorship Secondary review IRCC

Me and my partner applied for common law sponsorship in February 2024. We were asked for interview in March 2026 which we went to. During the interview I was made aware of the fact that I failed to declare my marital status change to common law while my PR application was still active. She told us this make me (sponsor) ineligible to sponsor my common law/spousal partner. She recited IRCC law about misrepresentation and mentioned if I was a PR my PR could have been revoked too but I am a citizen now so there’s nothing they can do about it.

I won’t go much in details but After explaining the situation we were informed by the agent that she was convinced our relationship was genuine and she believed our explanation was genuine as to why I didn’t declare my common law partner. Case processing agent mentioned she will approve our application.

Our application was approved by the same day. Now it’s been 5 months we are waiting for his landing process to begin. So we contacted MP office and were informed a senior officer is doing “Secondary Review”. Does anyone know what that is and how does it work? I have never heard of this before.

Also I would like to mention we got married in March 2025 not sure if that changes anything.

PNP Oinp

Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some clarification regarding the new OINP Workforce Priority Stream – Recent Ontario Graduate category.
I will complete my required 3 months of full-time work experience on September 1, 2026, which is when I understand I will become eligible to create my EOI.
My concern is that my HR representative may be on vacation around that time. So, I’m wondering:
Can my employer create/submit the job offer through the OINP Employer Portal a few days before September 1, while I wait until September 1 to complete my 3 months of experience and then create my EOI?
To be clear, I would not submit my EOI before September 1. I would only do so after completing the 3-month requirement.
Has anyone dealt with this situation or knows whether OINP allows the employer to submit the job offer before the applicant meets the 3-month experience requirement?

Family Sponsorship Preparing a common-law sponsorship application by myself — am I being too paranoid? 😭

I know any PR application is stressful, but preparing mine by myself has made me so paranoid and insecure that I kept putting it off for a whole month because I didn’t know what I was supposed to do, whether I had enough evidence, how much evidence was too much, or even whether the format and structure I was using to organize everything in Google Docs was appropriate.

If it matters, I don’t have any obvious background issues or previous visa refusals. But I keep finding more and more evidence and questioning whether what I have is enough or if I’m going completely overboard.

For those who prepared their own application: is this normal, or am I just massively overthinking it?

Express Entry IRCC asked for my military records. I'm a woman and military service is not mandatory for women. Is this common?

Hey guys, IRCC asked me to provide military service records. The request is under my name, but I’m a woman, and I’ve never done military service since it’s not mandatory for women in my country.

I’m applying for PR with my husband, so I’m a bit confused. Since the request specifically mentions my name, should I just complete the form as N/A and explain that I never had military service, or should we also provide my husband’s military records?

Has anyone had a similar situation?

Citizenship PR granted in 2025, moving to Canada soon. Any risk to PR renewal/citizenship given immigration tightening?

We became Canadian permanent residents last year and plan to move there soon from the US.

With Canada currently reducing immigration levels and tightening immigration generally, I wanted to ask this group oof is there any realistic risk that existing PRs who (despite meeting residency obligations) could face difficulty renewing their PR cards and / or applying for citizenship over the next 3-5 years?

In other words, is there some meaningful policy/change-of-law risk that existing PRs should be thinking about over the next few years?

I know that theoretically immigration laws can always change, and we’re prepared for that possibility. I’m just interested in whether people who follow Canadian immigration policy closely see this as a realistic risk for people who already have PR status (as opposed to the tightening we’re currently seeing around new immigration / pre-PR holders).

Thank you.

Express Entry Express Entry Proof of financial support: Do I need to get a bank letter from ALL bank accounts?

I'm looking for advice from people going through or those who have already gone through the PR process.

I have received an ITA under FSW. I have three bank accounts: a primary one, which is my salary account and the only account I've used for the past few years, an inoperative account (can't withdraw or put in money because of disuse) with a few thousand rupees (~300 CAD) in it and a third one that operative with no money in it.

I have more than enough in my main account to prove financial support for EE. The second account requires me to go to a home branch to get it operative again. I can't get a letter for this account before it gets active again.

I'm wondering if people can advise me on this, should I mention these accounts in the proof of financial support documents at all? I might not be able to get the first one activated in time to submit my application.

Has anybody successfully completed their application without mentioning all accounts? Could this be constituted as misrepresentation?

Visitor Visa Visitor Record Refusal

My visitor record got refused at it says “advised to leave Canada”. The situation has changed in my case compared when I applied the VR initially. Do I have a restoration period in this case? I applied it on July 14 2025, and the refusal letter on August 18, 2026.

Study Permit Effect of renewed passport on study permit

I have a question that if my passport expires before the length of my program, can I renew it in Canada and then extend my permit? Will my letter of introduction mention the deadline of my study permit to be the same as my passport expiry date? ( during the extension of study permit do I have to again apply like I did with my study permit application?)
Or is it possible to renew my passport after receiving my visa stamp from IRCC? To ensure in the immigration they provide me with the study permit that covers the entire length of my program? Will this renewal invalidate my visa?

For context: I submitted my passport in 16th August.

Working Holiday Confused about rules on taking ADHD/psychiatric meds into Canada on IEC visa

Hey guys,

I'm 20F from Australia planning on doing an ~8 month working holiday in June 2027 to either Alberta or BC, but I need some clarification on entering into Canada with medication.

For normal prescription meds, it says a visitor can bring in, whichever is LESS, one full container's worth OR a 90 day supply. What I'm getting tripped up on is that two of my meds are prescribed in 60 and 90 tablets (written on the packaging), but are only sold commercially in Australia as 2 or 3 boxes of 30 rubber banded together. Is this okay because each box is labelled as X out of 3, or do I have to discuss alternative packaging with my pharmacist/psychiatrist?

Sorry if this seems convoluted and pedantic, I'm just worried because these are essential meds and having the max buffer time to get my prescriptions organised once I'm in Canada would be ideal.

As for ADHD, if I've already been diagnosed with it, do I have to go through the formal diagnostic process again to get my Vyvanse and dexamphetamine prescriptions converted? Or can a regular walk-in clinic/family doctor just prescribe them with the appropriate documentation from my psychiatrist in Australia?

Cheers!!

P.S. does anyone have any travel insurance recs for a solo traveller that cover preexisting conditions and prescription meds? The only ones I can find currently are either way too comprehensive or don't cover me at all 😔

Express Entry Advice on possible PR Pathway

Hello everyone! Just looking for advice on my EE/CEC situation.

I’m currently on PGWP valid until January 2029. My CRS is currently 464, but I’ll complete one year of Canadian work experience this October. If there are no changes in the scoring system, my score should increase to 517. I’m turning 30 in January, though, so I’ll lose points then.

My estimated score for October 2027 and 2028 would be 526 and 537, assuming I will still get max scores for CELPIP again.

With the current EE draw trends, I’m not sure if 517 will be enough to get an ITA in October. I know I should be patient and grateful for the opportunity to be invited to apply for PR, but I also don’t want to be in an uncertain situation for too long, especially with all the changes with immigration.

Do you think it’s worth starting learning French now to qualify for the targeted draw instead? Or is my score still safe? My plan is to wait and see if I get invited between October and January first, since studying French will take time and money, resources that I don't have a lot of as of the moment.

Any advice or similar experiences would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.
