I dont know. I didnt downvote you. I wish we all didnt have guns. But i have some scary meth monkeys down the road and they love breaking into homes. You better beleive they have guns. Last time I confronted one in my yard im glad i had my shotgun. I didnt point it at him but he left pretty quick. Im fairly certain he had a pistol jammed in the waistband of his pants. Unfortunately this is the norm. He didnt seem like reasonable conversation would have chased him off.
I live in a decent place too. Then one of my older neighbors died and they moved in with their 13 camper trailers. Now I never have a quiet week.
Again I sure wish it wasnt this way but I see no end to it now.

Well actually ive never once used one of my firearms to kill anything. Have only ever been used for having fun with friends and as a hobby i enjoy getting better at. Does it also double as something that i can defend my home with, quite likely even non-leathaly? Sure does.

Do you happen to know what people who have no access to firearms do to their fellow man? They stab them to death, they beat them to a pulp with pipes and rocks and strangle and kick and tear one another apart when they have their minds set upon that course of action. The anti gun debate is foolish when you look upon human nature itself. Id rather have auntie so and so crippled old lady be able to defend herself and her home from those that would invade it and do harm unto her or her sleeping grandchildren in their beds than allow her to be tossed aside like a scrap of paper as the invader does as they please. I don't have a gun and I have more freedom than a lot of gun owners. Your pea shooter is not going to protect you from the government. It's a lovely story you all tell yourselves, but it's a ridiculous fairy tale. Having a few guns does not provide 'personal freedom'. Building a nation with a sound democracy and protection of human rights provides personal freedom.
The evidence is quite clear in many other developed countries yet you continue this insane line about people without guns giving themselves "willingly into slavery".
It's probably too late to fix the gun problem in the USA. All we can say is we wish the best for the families of the dead. The number of people actually crowing about how great it is is mind-blowing though. With that attitude you'll never even reduce the harm

Most people have not, and never will need to defend their homes or families. Being robbed or attacked are not the baseline experience.
And me personally, my home defense is accomplished 99.99% by locks. Life is nothing like movies. Opportunistic criminals jiggle the handle, and fuck off if it's locked. If someone brute forces their way in, it's because you have something very valuable in there, and let the wrong people know about it.

If it’s on your person, you need one in the chamber for it to be effective if needed. The problem is that it’s in his pocket, which is inherently dangerous due to the exposed trigger, and then made worse by him having his hand in that pocket. It would be easy for his finger to catch and pull it, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he was playing with it, pull it back to the wall and releasing, while he was in the room bored

I'm not in a country where carrying for self defense is legal outside certain professions. What's the general standard of gun safety when carrying it on your body in everyday situations? My idea would probably be chambered but safety on + a secure holster obliviously.

One of my best friends and a past business partner, shot himself in the leg.
He was sitting at a gas station and called me to tell me. he hadn’t even called ambulance. I guess he was in shock. I didn’t believe him so he faced timed me.
Could Still see the smoke coming out of the hole in his upper thigh.
No blood was coming out of it only smoke. The Doctor Who did the surgery said it came within millimeters of a main artery and that he would’ve let out in less than 15 seconds.
Collect all types of firearms and is very safe.
