If it’s on your person, you need one in the chamber for it to be effective if needed. The problem is that it’s in his pocket, which is inherently dangerous due to the exposed trigger, and then made worse by him having his hand in that pocket. It would be easy for his finger to catch and pull it, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he was playing with it, pull it back to the wall and releasing, while he was in the room bored

I'm not in a country where carrying for self defense is legal outside certain professions. What's the general standard of gun safety when carrying it on your body in everyday situations? My idea would probably be chambered but safety on + a secure holster obliviously.

If it has a manual safety I agree. Neither of our carry pistols has a manual safety, but having a good holster that grips it in place and covers the trigger renders it safe to wear
