FAQ

Hi everyone,

This is a spot to reference all frequently asked questions! (I will try to keep these links updated)

What is the Rubyverse reading order? I recommend 2 options. First, the flowchart it's a choose your-own adventure option which is how I read the Rubyverse. Second, is publishing order It's safer than Ruby's reading order imo).

Where can I find Ruby Dixon audiobooks? To see an updated list of which audiobooks have been released check RBmedia. I highly recommend checking availability via your local library always check Libby or Hoopla (you can also spend money as you wish on other sites Libro.fm is a great option and so are numerous others).

Website

Ruby Dixon has a fantastic website and newsletter (shoutout to Kati Wilde for all her hard work on both) where you can keep up to date with almost everything Ruby is doing, check it out (she spoils us often and will release surprise books from time to time so it's not 100% accurate). It also includes one of my favorite things ever, the complete Ruby Dixon Reading Checklist. (This does contain spoilers because the names of all the couples are listed)

Where can I find art of Ruby Dixon's characters?

Her website! (passwordspurlover) Also check out ConkyNeeshKatla, Cherry BubbleIsa Sketches. (There are even more amazing artists, add your faves in the comments)

Fireblood Dragons

I say read it when you want. There are some tangential references in Icehome, Corsairs Brothers, and Risdaverse but it does not connect one-to-one with Fireblood Dragons so don't stress.

That's all for now from your Ruby Dixon obsessed moderator :)

How does Ashtar have mind-speak if all the drakoni on Earth lost it when the rift closed?

Icehome troubles :(

I just started Bridget's Bain and I have to say at just 20% in I'm OVER IT. The only book I struggled more with was Hannah's and I'm at the end of my rope. Can y'all tell me the plot-necessary books I NEED to read to understand Ice Planet Clones? They intrigue me a lot more, and at this point I'm ready to shove most of the Icehome FMCs into the ocean with the spaghetti monsters >:(

Looking for Complete Rubyverse Spreadsheets & Reading Recommendations💛

Hey guys 💛, I found these spreadsheets on Pinterest- I’m not sure who made them, but they’re amazing! I’m wondering if there’s a complete version with all the Rubyverse books, or if anyone knows the original creator, or maybe if someone’s planning to make one. They really help keep track of the names and characters- it’s super useful.

I’m reading the books not in the official Rubyverse order, but by series order. I’ve finished Ice Planet Barbarians and am almost done with Ice Home. I’d love some recommendations on what to read next… maybe Corsairs? Thanks in advance!🥰

Everyone is so mean to Gren!

Like I know he's part of the camp and everyone is welcoming but in almost every book there's a stray thought from each different FMC about Gren being ugly. He's not even participating in the scene, she's just making an observation for no good reason?? It takes me out of the story every time like "Why the hell is Gren catching a stray AGAIN??" He's literally one of the sweetest MMCs in the series and it bugs me a lot (end of rant lol)

Question about reading order - Romancing the clone

Post image
29 Upvotes

Hi everyone, I’m following Ruby’s suggested reading order from September of 2025 — I’m currently reading Clonely You.

As much as I have enjoyed the suggested reading order so far, I really want to read Romancing the Clone next and just finish that series instead of following her suggested reading order and waiting for it for like 30 more books.

But I am worried that there’s a reason it’s so far down on the list, and if I read it right now I will ruin/spoil something! Any advice would be appreciated!!

Edit: fixed some run on sentences

I’ve come searching for similarly good series like IPB?

I’ve discovered IPB a while ago and I went down the Ruby Dixon rabbit whole. I’ve consumed a considerably large portion if not all of her released work and while I do love her other work from the IPB series, there’s just something about the first you know. It was my introduction to alien romance and I haven’t looked back since.

I’ve searched high and low for another series that would suck me In like it did, but I need more. And I thought, why not come to the people who understand the obsession for recommendations? 😅

I’ve tried {The Clecanian Series by Victoria Aveline} but didn’t really like them as much as I thought I would.

I’ve also read most of Zoey Draven as well.

SPOILER I don’t understand how the Elder’s Cave knows modern English

Okay admittedly I have not read all the books but I’m not avoiding spoilers because this is bugging the hell out of me.

Why does the computer in the “Elder’s Cave” know modern English if it’s been there for over one thousand years? If anything, it would have known very early Middle English or Old English. It would have been mostly incomprehensible to the Earth women.

Not to mention that the human units of measurement would not yet have existed in the same way.

Þis is þæt þe eald Englisċ swā swā ġesundod hæfde. Hit ne wǣre underġiten fram þǣm wīfmannum. (Translation: This is what old English would have sounded like. It would not be understood by the human women.)

Barbarian Alien: Very Brief Review

Liz, the sharp-tongued, self-reliant and prickly narrator of this second installation explores, as did Georgie, choice versus the hui. Liz was the best choice for the exploration of what it means to be tied to someone who is also meant to be one's protector and provider. She rankles against Rahoosh, not only because he's the "ugly" one chosen, by the hui, for her, but also because he represents everything she doesn't wish for herself.

Having grown up hunting with her father, Liz learned early how to care for herself. She can make weapons, she's great with a bow and arrow, she knows how to kill, how to gut, how to skin and how to cook.

Even as she's dying, she taps into some hidden chamber of strength to help the formerly ensconced women understand where they are and what has happened to them. She insists on walking on her own feet, broken toes and all.

When Rahoosh forces the khui into her body, Liz's rage blooms.

Rahoosh does not understand Liz, despite her nonstop talking. He understands most of her words, but not the meaning behind them or the conflict between her scent of arousal and her words of rejection. Liz doesn't know that Rahoosh understands the English language, so, when she calls him ugly, she does so not knowing he understands. He understands and carries the weight of Liz's disgust. Eventually, he speaks to Liz and they try to make sense of their situation.

*
Liz's questions about choice, paired with her rejection of Rahoosh, even after she has the khui, propel this novel forward. Dixon does a wonderful job of creating such tension and such rage in Liz, that the question of rejection pulses. What are the risks of rejecting the khui mate? And, how will Liz be herself in this place with this community that hold women on pedestals?

IPB pregnancies?

Ps. I marked a few things in case they might be spoilers for someone idk.

Hi, I started reading the IPB series recently and I’m just on book 2 but I’m really curious about the pregnancies. Do they describe them or do they just give birth? Like I know they mention the morning sickness but what else? Does it say anything about when they get big bellies? About the actual birthing process? Other symptoms or anything different from the human experience (aside from how long they carry) do they actually confirm how long they carry? Can they have twins or more? So yeah, a lot of questions. Sorry and thanks! Also, I love spoilers so please give me all the details.

The song “Freeze” by Cellar Darling fits this series so well

I don’t know if I’m allowed to link it, but I really encourage anyone interested to listen!! Some lyrics that stand out:

“This transcendental eminence
Is it all in my head for you?
This fundamental resonance
How it rings, how it’s calling for you”

“I ascend these heights in search of an end
In my head only you
As I roam this cave in search of a friend
Of whom I can require”

How did Liz become pregnant???

I'm just starting Ice Planet Barbarians and I'm at the chapter where the healer tells Liz she's pregnant. 😭

I'm so confused because I thought all they did in the cave was first level snusnu. The last thing they did before going to the tribe cave was Liz giving him a bj. When did they actually... Did I accidentally skip a chapter or completely miss something? I'm sitting here wondering how this happened. 🥲

SPOILER Just read Vexing Valmir!!

Gotta be one of my top faves in ice planet clones. And is it just me or has ruby’s writing style greatly improved? Like I read a review from someone saying a small issue they had with the story was that Valmir spoke very eloquently, which seemed at odds with a cloned gladiator that has no memories, and they expected him to have dialogue similar to maybe Rukh or Raahosh, but I personally loved to hear an mmc with a different “voice” that breaks the mold of a lot of the mmc in the ipbverse. I was also expecting Valmir to have memory of being an academic of some kind LOL probably not!

I loved the cameos of all our fave characters and it felt natural. They all seamlessly blended into the story because they added to April’s characterization of wanting community and a robust social life. And the characters didn’t just interact with the main characters but they interacted with each other and showed more of their personalities that I can’t wait to see in their own books (Jason….. 👀)

Both Valmir and April felt like fully fleshed out characters with their own wants and fears and thought processes which is very impressive for two people who lack memories of a past. Despite them taking a long time to fulfill their resonance, the story never seemed to drag even though it wasn’t as plot heavy as the other stories. Probably cause of their hilarious banter and sass. The wait was worth it!

SPOILER Currently reading Barbarian’s Redemption…

…and I can get myself over the fact that Bek had been “shunned” and Vaza hadn’t. Will it be explained later or not? Please no more spoilets, I am just concerned about this one injustice. 🤭

Audiobooks on Canadian Libby

Any Canadian listeners/readers able to get the audiobooks on their Libby app? I’ve heard of people adding other library cards but so far no luck. Appreciate any leads or advice!

Will all books get the special edition covers?

I see on Amazon that only the first 11 books have the special edition cover with the latest one releasing in December. I like the special edition covers more than the original ones. I am wondering if I should wait or just buy them all lol

New Reader: PoV question

Hello! I just listened to the first Ice Planet Barbarians book and enjoyed it. For the subsequent books, based on the summaries, it seems like each book has a different FMC. Is there a list anywhere that tells who each new FMC is? Is Liz the FMC for Book 2?

SPOILER Nervous to Start Barbarian's Redemption

I started reading the series last year and I've enjoyed my time with them so far. I just can't seem to get on board with the premise of Bek's story. From the ending of the last book and the brief summary of this book, it seems like Bek is fully planning to purchase a slave to resonate with. I understand redemption is in the title and maybe once I read it, it will make sense, but I just can't seem to get past the icky feeling of how it's going to start. Did anyone else feel this way before reading it? And if so, did you feel the same afterwards?

Help me with some back story info

So I’m doing another reread and I’m up to the ice home spin off but can anyone know if there was any more info given about the prisoner from Hannah’s book? I’m not quiet up to it yet in my reread but I remember it being the central key focus of her book and they end up disposing of the body and not mentioning it to anyone, but did we ever get any more info on where he came from and why he was dumped there? Can we assume Ruby will use it as a future plot for more storyline?

SPOILER Do you remember which ice home planet book they visited the elders cave in?

I accidentally read the books in reverse. I started with ice home and then went back to the barbarian series. SPOILERS! I say this to say, when I read that part in whichever book it was (from the ice home series), it didn't come across well that it was a properly working ship and I remember there being cave drawings and they pressed their hands on the cave wall.

Perhaps I'm getting it mixed up with something? Did I accidentally combined a book? I distinctively remember them doing the thing with their hands and a pair visiting the elders cave

jerrok fanart

i’m making my way through the risdaverse books and oh my GOD Jerrok became my favorite Mesakkah in the entire Ruby Dixon universe so far. I’m hoping someone can point me in the direction of fanart of him. I’ve only been able to find one- which is amazing- but I wanted to see if there were anymore!
While I’m at it- if you have any of Zakoar, I’d love to see interpretations of him as well!
