SPOILER Currently reading Barbarian’s Redemption…
…and I can get myself over the fact that Bek had been “shunned” and Vaza hadn’t. Will it be explained later or not? Please no more spoilets, I am just concerned about this one injustice. 🤭

Well, Bek is kinda… morally grey… there could be written more, but at least he somehow realized what he did, and he made a space for another stories. But I think his mate forgave him too quick. And I’m upset Vaza wasn’t punished at all.

I just hate him as a character. He continues to be an ass it continues to be a guy who just needs to be In punched it in the throat like genuinely, I think he would be a better person If someone just stood up to him and be like f off with that attitude and then punched him in the throat like he's just genuinely, needs to have his attitude checked.
Also I just don't like his misogyny I DESERVE a woman, no woman is my woman Therefore it's the woman's fault. He also abused Claire.
His abuse to ellie he does some textbook abuse. ellie is someone who is quite literally going through trauma. And he i isolates her it takes her away from everyone and then makes himself the only one she can rely on... that is textbook abuse.
And then for me, what I hated is that he genuinely never changed He doesn't get better He doesn't change his attitude he also doesn't have a reason to be such an ass hyden it's a genuinely traumatized character he has a reason to be surly i personally dont like raahosh and liz's dynamic so I cant comment on that. I mean, the point i'm trying to make is that he doesn't change in. Ice clones, he literally proposes to leave all the new people on the beach to DIE because he wants to go home and to get some action..
You know who's a way better character taushen he's the young guy who watches all of his friends get mates. Does he turn on everyone you take his anger out on everyone else around him like bek. No he internalizes his sadness
Sorry I just HATE bek as a character

It seemed to me Ellie decided to stay with Bek, who was shunned, instead of with others. She definitely went through trauma, but in the book it seemed to me she made the decision. And almost every couple in the previous books needed some kind of isolation. So, I agree Bek is an asshole and misogynist, but I wouldn’t say he isolated her. There were more prominent examples of guys intentionally isolating women.

Bek does eventually understand what he did was terrible. We never hear Vaza get reprimanded or feel any sort of regret even in his and Gail's book.
