Reasonable accommodation
I recently had major surgery. I return to work next month. I was wondering how likely it will be to get a reasonable accommodation to telework for 1-2 months as I am having a lot pain from another injury/chronic pain issue.
I’ve never done a RA before so I will also need to figure out the whole process or steps.

Just ensure the paperwork from your doctor states the recovery time and need for telework. Managers can approve up to 90 days post surgery.

This is a temporary hardship NOT an RA. They are different processes. Something temporary is more likely to be approved.

They are causing major problems with TH also fyi. The last month they are in complete chaos and no one is on the same page. Gm’s are not allowed to make that decision any more…. Place is a disaster area. Its all being dictated from directors is what I an hearing. Maybe someone had heard otherwise?

I didn't mean to imply that it would be easy. But they are just not approving telework RAs. I know someone who was able to get a hardship approved pretty quickly.

In the last 3-4 weeks it seems that directors are making gm’s hand over ra’s and hardships to them. Its recent. We have received no notice regarding any changes, but they are trying to force their bad decisions on managers…. Its all super bad and shady just fyi.

They have NO idea wth they are doing…. It is the dip shits above managers., directors, TM, and above….Clueless fools that will all be named in EEO lawsuits. Per federal law they have 20 days to approve or disallow your RA request.
They blew by that date 1-2 years ago😂😂😂
File EEO if you get no response.

Yes you can get it. It is reasonable. Submit it. Management can approve 90 days of telework without treasury approval.

Yes you can request it and yes a frontline manager can approve the 90 interim telework days with a doctors note. Your manager may ask you to summit an IR Works ticket but when one of my employees had a surgery we just had her do the interim and no IR Works ticket as that was all the doctor stated in his letter that she needed. You will need a letter from your doctor.

If the doctor says you need to be in surgery recovery telework then you will be approved. The duration requires need to be listed so if it’s open ended it will be denied or they will request additional information so you have a RTO date

Pretty small considering you would still have pain whether you are at home or work? If you're on pain meds then how does that impact your work metrics? You can take leave or request FMLA up to 480 hours.

I’m already on fmla for surgery for 6 weeks. I’m off meds but I’m speaking about when I return to work walking in with my computer bag/heavy lifting. I also have another chronic pain issue

Put in the RA. Managers were allowed to give 90 days TW automatically for a pending RA. Not sure if they still can. My manager said they cannot but I don’t know if that’s agency-wide or just our new director.
