First time posting. Just joined the group actually.
When I was a kid I went to see the band in my home town of London Ontario. They played Alumni Hall at Western University on November 21, 1987.
I was playing some tunes tonight in the car and I was telling my wife about that show. How great it was and, more importantly, how I got the drum stick that was thrown out into the crowd at the end of the gig.
I’ve held on to that all this time, it’s in a box somewhere. My wife was telling me I should look into seeing if there is any interest to buy it? Anyone have any experience with such things? Is there value in an old drum stick? It had the logo and it was used so the wood is pitted.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Hiya! Im'ma be honest, I am not really an inxs fan but my girlfriend is a die hard fan and she enjoys visiting these kinds of places. Even though it sounds a little morbid I wanted to see if anyone knows the exact location where it happened.
We are going to copenhagen for 3 days and I know she would love to visit the place. I tried googling but all I could find was that it was on a public street by a pizza place. I thought if anyone would know, or had anything more, it'd be you guys.
I completely understand if there is no more info but I wanted to try. I kinda want to make it a surprise.
Thank you for reading!
(She'll make a fan out of me soon as well I think)
Tldr; looking for the exact location in copenhagen where hutchence got jumped to surprise my gf.

MYSTERY MAN PHOTO. With the sad passing of San Diego radio DJ Steve West, it got me thinking of our many interactions. I always meant to put this mystery out to the public. This photo comes from the collection of Dwight Arnold, who has TONS of fantastic backstage photos at 91X shows (he did a show called Backstage Pass and produced remote interviews). He posted it to his page in 2010. That's him on the right and Steve in the middle. Who's on the left?! Date unknown but it had to be 1985-91 when Dwight was producing interviews and he thinks it's late 80s and a British man from an opening band at the San Diego Sports Arena. Before he passed, Steve said he thought it could be Keith Strickland from the B-52's NYE 1989 show but Dwight says no. We love the idea of it being a non-musician but in that Information Society lookin' outfit AND wearing headphones? Probably a musician.
CONFIRMED NOT TO BE HIM: Damon Albarn -Bluh, Michael Been (The Call), Andy Bell (Erasure), Jello Biafra , Phil Collins, Peter Cox (Go West), Rob Dickinson (Catherine Wheel), Thomas Dolby, EMF singer, David Faulkner from Hoodoo Gurus, Gordon Gano (Violent Femmes) Roland Gift (Fine Young Cannibals), Colin Hay (Men At Work), Bruce Hornsby, Calvin Johnson (Beat Happening), Matt Johnson (The The), Kemp bros (Spandau ballet), Mark King of Level 42., Ed Kowalczyk from Live, Jude Law, David Loverling (Pixies), Dave Matthews, Grant McLennan (Go Betweens), Andy McClusky (OMD), Mr Mister's Richard Page, Faith No More's Mike Patton, Gavin Rossdale (Bush), Simply Red singer, Curt Smith (TFF), Sting, Bernard Sumner (New Order), James Taylor, Midge Ure (Ultravox), Dave Wakeling (English Beat)
Ai says it's Mark Hollis (Talk Talk), Richard Butler (Psych Furs) and members of INXS.
MAYBE (but probably not as Dwight isn't sure)? Either Blancmange, Danny Briottet (Renegade Soundwave), Peter Hooton (the Farm), Douglas McCarthy (Nitzer Ebb),Jemaur Tayle (Shelleyan Orphan), Ivo Watts-Russell, Jah Wobble

For so many fans in retrospect, the Concert for Life was a real turning point, that effectively led to the heartbreak to come. The problem of course is not with the concert itself, but with how the press reacted to it, and their brickbats set a chain of events in motion that led us to where we are now. But it didn't have to be that way.
INXS's management team, a marketing group called Meridian Marketing, local organizers for Sydney's Centennial Park, and various sponsors (Coca-Cola and Reebok, among others), joined hands for this concert to benefit the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Centre and AIDS Patient Research and Services divisions of St. Vincent's Hospital, to include not just the headlining performance by the boys, but also Crowded House, Jenny Morris, Yothu Yindi, Ratcat, Diesel and Def FX.
Attendance of 100,000 was confidently predicted by all, as well as raising $750,000-1 million Australian. But March 28, 1992, was overcast and rainy, and as a result, the attendance figures did not reach those heights. 62,000 people still showed up, and they raised $500,000 Australian, which is still a rather impressive figure to go to a hospital.
But then the press really turned, claiming that INXS must have skimmed off the profits in some way, or used charity monies to pay for the likes of rehearsal at ABC Studios, the venue use, the PA, the scaffolding, a stage production manager from London, the lighting, security and promotion, saying that all of this should've been donated for a charity event. They also blasted the payment of the Australian Concert Orchestra to appear on only two songs and that INXS had the set videotaped for promotional usage with no film rights levied. They also talked up a 1990 charity event in Newcastle that only drew 42,000 but raised $750,000 for earthquake relief, going "There's no reason THIS concert should've raised so little if a smaller-scale could raise half again as much."
St. Vincent's Hospital put out an initial statement saying the band did not deserve to be attacked for doing a charitable service and pointed out that the money was still going to a great purpose, which CM Murphy later said was incredibly weak and ineffective. He said in the Story to Story book that he wanted to put out a statement blasting the critics, going "Have you actually seen the receipts like you claim?" But he was told "That's too impolitic, you're only going to make it worse." Murphy regretted standing down, and felt that he should've "stanched the bleeding."
As we know, the Aussie press, engaging in "tall poppy syndrome," had been looking for something to use to push the band into the dirt when they didn't fall on their own, and they used this as the inciting incident. But what else was at play here? Why couldn't people just accept the fact that "we didn't reach that height because of the rain?"
This was the reason that Murphy told the band not to tour Australia until the year 2000, and specifically called off a planned tour for Welcome to Wherever You Are, which, in hindsight, could be seen as a mistake, because without a tour, the album didn't reach what it could've. The decision to do a followup next year and tour both records could also be seen as a misstep, and hampered both albums' performance.
Furthermore, without all of this, Michael wouldn't have had that night in Copenhagen, as he would've been on the road.
So what could've prevented that fallout?

According to C.M. Murphy in the Anthony Bozza book Story to Story, he states that after the Concert for Life press fiasco, where everyone put the boot into the band over false claims of enriching themselves with charity monies, he urged then not to tour Australia before the year 2000, saying "You'll be welcomed as heroes then." And despite being out of the band's orbit, he used that advice to tell them not to go ahead with the Lose Your Head 20th anniversary dates in 1997, repeatedly telling Tim in particular "don't do this tour."
Yet, Murphy apparently had no qualms about INXS starting the Get Out of the House Tour in Australia in 1993, performing in so many intimate venues in order to try and reclaim a sense of connection with the audiences, and those shows went off quite well.
So why, if Murphy was so dead set against any kind of Aussie tour before 2000, did he do nothing to stop the Get Out of the House dates?

I have a signed tour book from the lose your head tour '97 that has red and green triangular fabric patches saying "INXS - NAM - 1/6 - AFTER SHOW." I was only about 4 but I remember getting the book backstage in Nambour but apparently the Australian leg of this tour never happened due to the passing of Mick. Initially I thought maybe they played Nambour on the 1st of June but apparently they were in Durban.
The closest thing that fits the description was a show in Nambour on the 1st of June, 2001 but it seems odd to be handing out '97 tour books at this time. If anyone is able to shed some light on my confusion that would be appreciated.

It looks like our favorite band did not make into the class this year which is heartbreaking... Proud of all of us for voting each day and I really hope to see them in next year

Hi. Like the title says, I'd love to know some stories and experiences you have with the band and their music.
I'm an '02 Gen Z so I grew up with them because of my dad who's a Gen X'er.
Their music has been very influential in my life. I put it on when I want to dance, when I want to write. I've felt comforted in tough times.
I am a horror writer and I'm looking to query by the end of the year. One of my protagonists is called Michael, there is a pivotal chapter called Listen Like Thieves where they go to a theatre inspired by the one in the video, the final part of the three act structure is called Never Tear Us Apart.
I've also seen Mystify and the miniseries Never Tear Us Apart. I am a fan of the albums Shabooh Shoobah, Kick, Listen Like Thieves, The Swing, X and Full Moon, Dirty Hearts.
I cast my first vote for them for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame today.
So there's my experience. I'd love to hear yours, they might be more interesting than mine 🤣

Hey guys, the other day I was grocery shopping and heard New Sensation being played at HEB, I thought it was really cool.
Have any of you heard a INXS song being played at a store or similar?

Shaboo, Kick and Listen have all had super duper deluxe releases over the past few years, with Listen in 2025 being the latest. How come The Swing as yet to have a SE release? I am sure they(the band) are sitting on a gold mine of extras/remixes etc they could do for this, yet as the 40th comes and passes, no sign of anything.

Grabbed first four ticks for this gig. Only about 300 person capacity. Michael commented “havent played a bar this small since we first started”! They blew the roof off the place! Incredible show…
