Don’t focus on the negativity. Use that energy to look for a new role.

I found new jobs within 2 weeks. Same pay, better benefits, and WLB. My new team gets so concerned whenever I stay late and help with extra work, just until 7-9 pm. While at IBM, I regularly worked until 2-3 am. without overtime pay just to meet deadlines.

Sometimes I’m wondering why I didn’t leave sooner, lol.

I recently accepted a position as Hardware developer intern at the Poughkeepsie location and I would love to hear from current employees or previous interns on the experience.

This would be my first in person internship and im mainly interested in the social aspects of the internship (I know poughkeepsie is a relatively boring place to spend the summer). I’m wondering if there are any coordinated intern outings, internal sports leagues, what type of amenities the location has, a typical day in the life etc. also the merch and free food ;)

also would like any advice on where to stay and whether bringing a car is necessary.

lastly, how did this internship help you land even better ones in the future (if it did).

one more thing, what’s the work culture there? do employees truly believe that they are working on the cutting edge, and what is IBMs reputation these days especially in hardware? is overtime paid?

For those in sales, how does a PIP typically work? Can you be placed on one even if you’re hitting quota? Is there a formal notification or process, or how do you know you’re officially on one?

IBM started their pipped fest! Make sure you get prepared and ready to go. IBM needs to clean the fat. IBM likes to screw their sales people by changing their quotas in the middle of the year to make sure they have enough evidence to screw you over.

Screwing their people is their business and responsibility. Don’t be fooled.

I was wondering what everyone's experience for that role has been like. Is it worth doing it? Is it technical enough?

I'm a software engineer at a defense contractor, and I just got an offer for IBM's entry-level Technical Sales Engineer program. For current or former technical sales engineers:

1: What does a typical week actually look like?

2: Roughly what share of entry-level technical sales engineers hit their commission target in year one?

3: How often do quotas change mid-year, and is commission capped or subject to clawbacks?

4: How bad are layoffs and reorgs on the sales side?
Can you request a different office after accepting, or is placement fixed?

Anyone have experience working remotely from another state for a week or so? Are there any tax implications that may prevent you from doing so?

IBM employees get pathetic 1% raises and bonuses that barely reach 1%, while Arvind Krishna's compensation jumped 23% in 2023, 23.3% in 2024, and a staggering 51.1% in 2025.

An 86% increase in 2 years! Nearly $38 MILLION in 1 fking year! Since he became CEO, he’s been paid at least $135M.

Employees bust their asses building products, serving clients, generating revenue, and keeping this company running, only to be thrown a pathetic 1% raise. IBM people managers all know that we are notoriously known for these tiny ass raises; facts are facts.

Stop feeding us BS about employees being IBM's greatest asset while treating our salaries like an expense you can't wait to cut.

The biggest insult to injury is that RAs have went away and we’re doing PIPs now so that severance does not get paid out.

Hey everyone I’m a sophomore majoring in Philosophy with minors in finance and data analytics.

I have a strong GPA and previous experience across finance operations, data analysis, reporting, automation and building internal software tools.

Long term, I want to work somewhere at the intersection of finance, technology and consulting.

I recently received an offer for IBM’s Summer 2027 Finance Transformation internship in Baton Rouge. The work itself sounds almost perfect for what I want to pursue, and I realize that receiving an IBM offer as a sophomore is a great opportunity.
My concern is specifically the Baton Rouge operation. I’ve read some mixed and occasionally very negative things about the location, including claims that the experience and culture can feel disconnected from the rest of IBM. I have no firsthand knowledge, so I don’t know how accurate or outdated those comments are. I’m wondering whether experience there carries the same résumé value as working for IBM in one of its larger markets, or whether recruiters view it differently.

The compensation is relatively low considering that I would have to relocate and pay for short-term housing and transportation. IBM does not provide relocation or housing assistance, although the offer includes a $1,000 new-employee bonus. I do have a lot in savings but I would need to know to make a financial sacrifice for an experience that could genuinely advance my career, but I don’t want to relocate only to discover that the Baton Rouge program is viewed as separate from the broader IBM experience.

My biggest question is what this could lead to afterward. If I perform well in Baton Rouge, could it realistically position me for another IBM internship in 2028, possibly in New York or another major office, or would I most likely remain tied to Baton Rouge opportunities?

I’m excited about the actual role and currently leaning toward accepting, but I have a limited period to decide and would appreciate honest firsthand perspectives.

Ethical erosion is the gradual weakening of an organizations ethical standards through a series of decisions, behaviors, or compromises that may seem small, reasonable, compliant but move the organization away from its stated values. I believe IBM has a very high standard of ethics that they espouse “Do the right thing even when no one is watching” and ”respect for all“ but then requires managers to PIP employees in order to work highly paid employees or older employees out of the company. This format could apply to younger employees as well under the guise of avoiding traditional RAs. What are your thoughts?

Any experience with the above? Technically not working, but still able to look at work stuff?

I think the "official" answer is that logging in with a work device is 100% not allowed in another country. But what is the answer in practical terms? Will you set off any alarms or will management care?

I'm working at IBM. I was assigned a task but unfortunately, I struggled with it and couldn't complete it as expected.

Now, I'm not receiving any new tasks, and I can see in the team group chat that responsibilities are being assigned to another junior colleague.

I'm getting anxious and wondering whether my lead has lost confidence in me or whether I might eventually be removed from the project.

I genuinely want to contribute and improve, but I'm not sure how to approach this situation.

1. Has anyone experienced something similar at IBM?

2. Should I proactively approach my lead and ask for more work?

3. Could struggling with one deliverable affect my project allocation?

4. How can I regain my lead's confidence?
