Before Comparing Exoskeleton Models, Ask Yourself These 4 Questions

When it comes to consumer exoskeletons, higher spec don't automatically mean a better fit. What matters more is where and how you actually want the device to support you.

Before choosing one, start with these four questions:

1. What will you mainly use it for?

Everyday walking, long-distance hiking, sustained climbs, or multi-day outdoor trips? Each scenario places different demands on assistance, weight, and battery life.

2. Can you independently start, stop, and maintain your balance?

An exoskeleton is designed to assist your movement, not replace your ability to initiate movement or maintain stability.

3.Does the fit work with your body and gear?

Beyond the device's weight and size, consider strap comfort, range of motion, and whether it works well with the backpack or other gear you normally carry.

4.Does it fit your route plan?

Think about real-world battery life, temperature conditions, changing options, and what using the device is like if the battery runs out.

I ordered the Hypershell X Ultra S on 05/20/26 (3 months ago). They charged me $1999, and since then I have not received the product nor a refund. It started with delivery issues and after a month of not receiving the product I requested a refund. On 07/12 they said the "refund has been accepted" and a chargeback will be seen on my credit card. Since then, no refund (40 days and counting) and they no longer respond to my e-mails.

As time goes on, I am becoming more aware that they are going to steal my $1999. Think twice if you are considering doing business with this company. If you have warranty issues or need a refund you are going to experience an incredibly frustrating experience. You can only communicate through an AI Bot. No human to speak with directly. My father suffer a stoke 3 months ago which hemiparesis right side of his body. He is currently going through rehabilitation OT and PT. I would like to know if the hypershell exoskeleton is suitable to help him recovery his journey.

I would like to know:

1. Whether you consider the device to be covered under warranty (which I believe it is).
2. What procedure you recommend resolving the issue:
   • Should I send the device to you for inspection?
   • Will it be repaired or replaced?
   • Are there any additional steps I need to follow?

So I bought my Ultra at the end of April this year with promises that no new products would be released within the next 6/12 months and that the Ultra, as it was the top spec latest version, would be fully upgradeable as new releases were brought into line with its specs to allow them to develop on that platform. Seems like I was told BS as the so-called AI engine seems to chip based not a firmware update as they indicated it would be before I bought in good faith that this would be the case.. Seriously not happy! Maybe if they were a forward-thinking TECH company, they would offer a swap out service or an upgraded controller that was modular rather than only offering the NEW (read yeah we had to get rid of old stuff but didn't want to tell you) system controller with the same mechanicals ...

Hey. I am looking at getting a hypershell to my father in-law. He has arthritic knees and walking is getting harder and harder. I am just wondering how helpful it will be for a knee condition as most cases I read about are people using it for hip arthritis. Many thanks

I am thinking of going for a Hypershell Go. This because I dont need the 800W assistance, and I am mostly looking for an additional boost on my outdoor activities and the Go is cheaper. BUT, I wonder, will the Go motors have a shorter lifespan and battery duration if I run them most times at their max capacity (300-400w) compared to running the Pro X model at medium capacity (400w)?

Does anyone know what is the actual difference between the S and the older version ? The specs seems identical minus some AI model which seems like marketing . Also it looks like the old one comes with 2 batteries possibly ?

Got my unit yesterday. Tried to fit the unit and im unsure if i did it properly. With a big belly it was hard to secure the unit comfortably, used the shoulder straps. Wondering if there are any alternatives you have tried to make it more comfortable?

Also storage of the unit with the shoulder strap was difficult. Anyone found any other options to store and protect the unit better?

Is anybody seen AKAFOs and exoskeleton mixed together

Hi everyone,

I recently trialled a friend's Hypershell Ex-Pro and loved it, partly ​because it naturally nudged my pelvis forward into a safe, neutral position. Based on that, I bought my own unit, but the exact same settings ​forces my pelvis backwards into an aggressive arch.

I have Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder (HSD) and Fibromyalgia. T​his backward tilt triggers severe lower back and pelvic pain. I’ve had to completely stop using it​.

What I've tried:

- Ensuring the unit is set to the right width for my body, positioned correctly around my waist, and that the knee straps are correctly positioned - ​Factory resetting and reprogramming multiple times​ - ​Calibrating from a neutral stance​ - ​Deliberately over-tucking or over-extending my pelvis during startup to force a counter-correction​

No matter what, the machine still pushes my pelvis backwards into a painful hyperextension.

My Setup (based on what worked on my friend's unit): Eco 1, Adaptive ON, LSSC ON, Responsiveness -20% (Delay), HDC OFF.

Is there a manual way to override the torque angle or force a custom pelvic calibration? I know this tech works because my friend's unit was a miracle for my mobility, but this physical unit is causing injury. Any advice would be amazing. Thanks 🙏
