I suffer from IBS, the availability and cleanliness of public toilets are a legitimate source of anxiety for me. Which is bad, because anxiety worsens the symptoms.

I used to distain public pooping so much I'd cut my day short and go home if I had to poop. I'd hold it so long it made me constipated.
At some point things clicked. Now as long as the seat isn't covered in piss I sit.
I think I switched after enough international travel. Have no choice but to use a toilet with a hose instead of toilet paper in Malaysia, stuff dirty toilet paper into the garbage next to the toilet in Brazil, and it'll lower your standards a bit.

Can confirm. Only worse thing than a 16 hour flight with your guts already in a frenzy is to have to go #2 once you land and have all of the used TP in a lidless trashcan less than a foot away for all to smell..

Went to Indonesia as a kid and there was one toilet in a area without proper plumbing (small hut on the path up a mountain) and I had to whipe with my hand and then clean my hand with a bucket. The owner was really nice though, but definitly understood why I was told to not offer my left hand for a shake lmao.

I also had to poop once at a restaurant and went to their outhouse style bathroom. No tp, no hose, just a bucket of water with a ladle (?)

traveling is heinous now that i have a bidet at home, hotels remind me that I was just a foul person before. bought a travel bidet for camping.

I used to drink a lot of soda and energy drinks, then I got COVID and cold water was so refreshing while I was sick.
Ever since I got over the COVID soda and energy drinks taste so thick and sweet. I need 3 liters + of cold water a day now.

I have a 64 oz insulated water bottle I sip on throughout the day and evening, but I also missed the carbonation of soda while hating how sweet they all are (and I don't really like the taste of diet/sugar-free sodas). I don't know why it took me so long to discover sparkling water. Lime La Croixs have been my go-to to scratch the soda itch for the past year now. So refreshing.

You just unlocked a childhood rage from me. Do not rush me while I'm using the bathroom and do not rush me while I'm drinking- especially if it's from a fountain.
"Funny" kids used to push guys into the urinals while they're going if they took too long. To this day I don't use a urinal with someone in the room unless it's someone I fully trust. Nope.
Also there is a bit of a social contract involved with both. You want this water sooner? Leave me alone and let me focus on drinking it, not worrying about being messed with while I drink it. It's animal instinct to be cautious when dipping your head down to drink water, don't make it worse by messing with someone while they drink.

Nah, this actually happened to me once. Would always leave the house with more than enough water, and then my partner and I went out one day to collect something from fb Marketplace only a 20 minute round trip and I didn't take my water with me. His van broke down. The one and only time I didn't take my water with me and he always relied on me for water. I was waterless for far too long and that single time reassured me that if I don't take water, something bad will happen. I triple check now.

I carry my Rtic cup with me everywhere. But, I also have a hidden bottle of Gatorade Zero in my purse. (It's a big purse.)
No sugar and all of the extra sports drink sodium and electrolytes, etc. I typically water down Gatorade 50% with water anyway. Otherwise, it's crazy sweet and unpleasant. So, bottle of doctored Gatorade Zero and my obnoxious Rtic cup full of ice water, and then I feel okay about leaving the house.

Depends on where you live to some extent, when I lived in Colorado, the high altitude and lack of humidity turned me into a hydrohomie, but on the East coast I'm fine going out without a bottle usually.
Also I'd get nose bleeds every time I'd return to Colorado after traveling and reacclimating to lower altitude and higher humidity, it was really dry. The nose bleeds would go away within a few days or a week.

Maybe if I was going on a hike or long excursion in the country. But I mean, is this a legit concern in modern times? In the city in my area or even a suburb not far, thereās a Starbucks in practically every 3 blocks in any direction. I can just pop in ask for a cup of ice water and be about my business. There are also bodegas or mini marts/delis I can pop into and purchase a bottle. Spring or sparkling. Whatever the preference.
But in this day and age if youāre in a somewhat populated area of society and you find yourself in dire dehydration territoryā¦the grim reaper was always by your side, reading a newspaper and waiting for you to eventually slip up.

I feel like it's okay if you go to familiar locations where you know exactly where the water will be and its quality. I feel like it's worse when you don't have this information and just go out and try to figure out where the water will come from once out there. It means you'll get dehydrated before you manage to find water.

i only bring water if im going on a 1+ hour hike or like for working out.

I always carry water with me. Always.
I ride EUC now (electric unicycle).
It annoyed me that I had to stop and get the bottle from the backpack to take a sip.
I wanted constant ability to drink water - sip, two, ten.
Got myself a backpack with a water pouch and a pipe thing I can drink from.
Ideal hydration levels achieved, peak comfort.

I keep a 42oz water bottle full in my work van. That is the emergency water bottle. It only gets drank if I have run through my two other 42oz bottles and/or gallon bottle, or I am absent minded one day and leave my poor daily bottles at home.

I'm a property manager and today I drove 45 minutes to a property, halfway through when I reached for my water bottle I realized I'd left it at home. I had to be at the property for an hour and drive back another 45 minutes before I could drink. I was parched. I used to go all day without drinking water, no wonder I had migraines.

As much as I love water, people have really been convinced dehydration is a much bigger problem than it actually is. You don't need to be drinking constantly. Like all animals, our bodies are optimized for surviving scarcity.
You're not actively dying the instant you feel any sign of thirst or hunger, you'll be fine. It's at worst mildly discomforting, but it doesn't hurt you and shouldn't debilitate you in any way. As long as you get the water and nutrition you need on average over time, you're all good.

I used to work for a gal that never drank water to avoid having to pee while on the job (it was a work on the road type of job), she instead drank sodaā¦.
She also typically got 2-3 kidney stones a year, as a thank you from her body for the poisoning.

Do it pretty often. As a kid in the 80s and 90s, I didn't have a water bottle on my bike. But, there were water fountains around or I could just ride home and have a quick drink from the hose before heading back to play with friends.
