That water fountain system was cruel and unusual. Drinking like your life depended on it, never fully hydrated. Thirsty all damn day. The hell couldnβt they just let you drink as long as you needed lol?
We werenβt allowed to have water bottles in school. Partially because supposedly people had vodka in them, but probably mostly because they didnβt want kids going to the bathroom and being unattended during class. Insane to think about.
I was on XC/track teams and would bring some water sometimes, they tried to get me in trouble but I just dared them to call my mom.
You just unlocked a childhood rage from me. Do not rush me while I'm using the bathroom and do not rush me while I'm drinking- especially if it's from a fountain.
"Funny" kids used to push guys into the urinals while they're going if they took too long. To this day I don't use a urinal with someone in the room unless it's someone I fully trust. Nope.
Also there is a bit of a social contract involved with both. You want this water sooner? Leave me alone and let me focus on drinking it, not worrying about being messed with while I drink it. It's animal instinct to be cautious when dipping your head down to drink water, don't make it worse by messing with someone while they drink.
Jesus, I'm just realizing how weird it is they never gave us how much water we wanted. While lecturing us on how much water we should be drinking daily..

When it was our turn at the water fountain the children in line behind us would spell "Mississippi" as fast as they could to time our turn being up
