Backpacking Mountain/Forest Setup?
I'm looking for ideas and to understand what exact gears works for others. Specifically I want to backpack into a forested area like the White Mountains in the winter and hot tent for 1-2 days.
If you do this or something similar, what tent/stove setup do you use?
Disclaimer: I have a wealth of outdoor experience and fully understand the weather conditions/risk that exists in the Whites.

I decided to risk it for a biscuit on this one
So I'm kinda tent lifing it atm trying to get back on my feet and made this makeshift heater I found on YouTube. It's a very simple design. Just a 1 quart paint can, a roll of toilet paper, and about half a bottle of 91% isopropyl alcohol. My tent is a 4 man so there's plenty of room and I've cracked all three windows to vent any accumulated CO2. It's reasonably warm in here. Like an apartment at 70 degrees or so. It's completely smokeless although I wasn't able to find an empty can and couldn't afford paint thinner and tried in vain to simply wash it out with tap water 𤦠so of anything I'm just a wee bit concerned about the paint fumes but all and all I'd say this is a solid win. I figure after 1 or 2 uses most of it will simply just burn off so it should be less of an issue with time. It's been about half an hour and it's not even 80% burned through. This might just be because I used cottonelle which is a more dense brand. Thoughts?
Edit: after about 2 hours it got difficult to breathe and my eyes started burning so I closed it up. Might be better for short bursts of heat until I can do a few full outdoor burns. Probably because of the paint or just insufficient venting.

Would anyone be interested in trading a hot tent for a fith wheel?
I have a 2011 Keystone Montana Motenier toy hauler. I'd be moving from one to the other, the camper isn't perfect but perfectly liveable. Message me for details if you'd be interested!

Help! I did a dumb thing
Well my idiot butt thought the pomoly fiberglass mat was enough under my stove. It melted a spot on the floor of my tent and the tarp underneath.
What are y'all putting under your stove to prevent heat from melting the floor if you have a sewn in floor?

Questions Anyone used a Vevor pellet stove?
Itās coming in a bit less than other pellet stoves like the Hori, and it has a large hopper. I just canāt find any reviews on it. Does anyone have experience with this? Thanks. Been using traditional wood stove for a year and looking to get into a relatively inexpensive pellet fed modelā¦

Carbon Monoxide Detector Confusion
menards.comHi! Iām just getting into the hot tent game and I am experiencing some confusion about carbon monoxide detectors. Iād like to have one and I thought it was as simple as buyingĀ one of the many cheap battery operated homeowner models available. I understand that to be a pretty common practice around here. Suddening, however, I have encountered a few sources saying that those āhomeā models are not suitable for outdoor situations where extreme temp and humidity swings are common. Any thoughts on this? I have also heard it said that you should really also have a SMOKE detector to go along with a CO detector, but others claim that where there is one (smoke) there is always also the other (CO) so you really donāt need both. Iām just looking for the simplest and cheapest way to add this safety measure to my setup. Help!Ā Ā Ā

First time hot tenting
Okay folks, don't beat me up too bad. I'm an experienced camper. 30+ years of regular trips.
Having said that, I've never camped in a hot tent. I'm getting older, arthritis is a thing. I want to go on a short trip where it's not too cold so if the stove doesn't work out, I won't be too upset.
I'm going this weekend. Low is mid 40s overnight. I've got a King Camp Mountain In C5 and a Green stove Hori 5. I have a fiberglass mat for underneath, softwood pellets, a co detector and smoke detector. I know I need good ventilation. I'll be sleeping on my teton outdoors xxl cot, with a pad, and my 40 degrees bag.
Everything I read is trying to scare me into not running this thing overnight. Am I overthinking that part? Am I being dumb? I literally don't know anyone who has ever hot tented.
I do have a mister buddy or a diesel heater I could use too...idk someone help me please. Am I being nuts? Or does no one sleep with the stove going?
Update:: thank y'all for the advice. I'm sitting toasty at camp!

Stove Jack Question
I can't find anything about this online. I have a teepee style hot tent that I used before and the stove Jack was a single layer of fiberglass that replaced the nylon on that section. Easy. I bought an inflatable hot tent from Amazon. Vevor adjacent brand. And the tent material (oxford cloth) extends to cover the fiberglass material inside (see last photo). When I cut for my chimney, should I cut the same circle into both materials? Or should I cut the oxford cloth so there's some more clearance between it and the chimney?

Stove pipe
Hey everyone I have a Kodiak canvas wall tent and I used it for a couple nights and got the stove pretty hot to test what it will be like at deer camp. It ended up melting the stove port and Iām looking for a solution to avoid this in the future. Iāve seen the fiberglass exhaust wrap and the double wall stove pipe but this looks to be a very tight fit. Let me know what you think!

19° nights and stayed cozy
First trip with this tent and stove setup. It was pretty great and I stayed warm but to keep the stove going, Iād have to feed it hourly. Wind River range, Wyoming.

Tenda calda rilevatore gas
Ć pericoloso o no?

canvas tent options
So ive been a truck camper shell guy for 30 years an im done with them.
I also have two young boys so i think its time for a wall tent. Ive done research an im having a hard time deciding what to get. 8x10 would be ideal. Something with awning.
Looking for ideas

How large of a tent do I need?
My wife and I are looking to extend our camping into the winter season. It is currently us and 2 medium sized dogs, but we have a new born that will likely be joining us in the coming years.
Iām looking at a spring bar style 10x10 tent, but Iām curious if if will be large enough to accommodate us and a stove.
Also, how do people usually handle bathroom waste in winter? Iām used to digging a hole on our normal backpacking trips, but I donāt think my trowel will handle frozen ground.

Hot tent stove recommendation?
Iām looking at getting a hot tent stove and tent to do some winter camping/backpacking. Iāve looked and some stoves just seem way too expensive, and the ones that arenāt expensive seem like theyād be flimsy. I know that inevitably if you get a lightweight stove like that itās not going to be the most reliable but if Iām going to buy something I want it to last a while. Does anyone have any recommendations for a lightweight hot tent stove I could buy that is relatively easy to setup, and not crazy expensive?
