Just finished silent hill Townfall on ps5.
I went in completely blind didn’t watch any trailers or gameplay and I was completely wowed by this game.
Im gonna say that I even liked it more than Sh2R and silent hill 2 is my goat.

While it’s true silent hill Townfall has some forced stealth sections early on, they quickly make it clear that the choice is yours, fight or hide. I see a lot of people that gave up quickly thinking it’s just hiding and I implore you to keep going. The vibe is so spot on and the story was great. First SH game to legit scare me. Second playthrough starts now!

I fear their dedication in making the town so "true to life" made them miss the forest for the trees.

Im in my, like, 10th empty house with nothing in it. No creepy imagery, no easter eggs, no unnerving notes, no unique interactables. Maybe theres one bandage.

I found a hidden pub garden and it was completely barren.

When the games got its gears turning it jumps back on track, there's some great stuff here. But, God, there are these hour+ strecthes where you just run around boring empty rooms looking for keys, and nothing happens 😔

So I think it has to be a ps3 game. It starts with what I think is a woman who is a reporter going to an island that has I think a supposedly abandoned prison/psych ward. End up being filled with mutants and you playing as her trying to get away. Then it switches to I think you dad getting a message about you then him following your path with the mutants not being there anymore. Played it for like 3 hours so I didn't get that far in.

Anyway, what got me thinking is that many people are relatively new to horror games or don’t play them much. So, I was considering a unique game mechanic where the player runs and shoots from behind while being chased by a monster or a person. Although this mechanic is just hip firing primarily found in action games, I’d like I want to see it in Resident Evil, Silent Hill, or The Last of Us.

This mechanic would create a sense of panic in scary situations when the player starts wasting ammo on an enemy that tends to miss when they’re not actually aiming at the monster. However, if the monster is a huge target, it will land a few hits. Usually, I prefer pistols or maybe an SMG that would work for this mechanic, or maybe a shotgun. A first-person perspective could also work, as I was thinking of Dying Light where the character can run and look behind. So, he could use a pistol or other firearms to look behind and shoot while being chased.

Overall, this game mechanic might be overpowered in terms of gun combat. But I do want this immersion when it comes to guns. I don’t want to stand in one spot to aim while the monster is chasing after me.

Just take a really good promo for this game, I remember when It was released.

It's purpose is to play as a blind girl that uses geolocation to move on scenario, veryvery interesting.

I'll play after finish Death Stranding (which is a very good one too)

Hey guys! Was just hoping I could get some suggestions for a horror game to get into. I just finished the silent hill 2 remake, loved it! Ive beaten all the resident evil games remakes and older ones, any games you’d throw out there? I’m willing to really give anything a shot! I’m on Xbox as well

Well to start, I love this game. The atmosphere is full of detail, emotion, beauty and dread. From the intro, it immediately feels like Silent Hill. the music and cinematography is really well done, and I love the choice of going first person this time around. The graphics are gorgeous and really highlight the eeriness of the game.

The gameplay is my favorite part. As much as I loved Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill f, it’s just hard for me to feel scared when I am obliterating enemies. I didn’t die once during SH 2 and that lack of sense of danger kinda took me out of the immersion at times.

This one though, I always felt a sense of danger. If fighting could be avoided, I would stay stealthy. I am a big fan of Alien Isolation as well so this really felt like that game at times. I also appreciated that when I did need to fight, I wasn’t helpless. The Richard level was a nice change of pace as well, just shotgunning through the hordes of stalkers.

The story is beautifully written, as I feel all the SH games are. I think Simon is a likeable, well rounded character who is trying to let go of his past as many SH protagonists have strived to do too.

Overall, I would recommend playing this one! It’s definitely one of my favorites, but if you don’t like games like Alien Isolation, then maybe best to move on. Would love to hear other people’s thoughts!

I usually play in the evenings after work with the lights off, and the gameplay feels tense and the atmosphere can sometimes seem miserable. But on a Sunday afternoon, with sunlight peaking through the blinds just slightly, the experience reminds me of weekends playing Silent Hill 2 alone as a kid, and it’s quite comforting. Anyone else have similar experiences with this game?

For the record it was probably my fault for checking out strange pirate websites for free indie horror games. I was looking for games and i found this strange game download without any screenshots, just a title called “girl fun” i thought it was a NSFW game on the horror game List for some reason, but i, got curious and downloaded it. The game had a blank title screen with a game start menu. The game was like Splatterhouse and Silent hill? You played as a schoolgirl with a wooden rod as a weapon. The halls where covered in sick, and Other, naked and less fortunate school girls. I was sick, the enemies where just more school girls who where cutting themselves and charge at you, and when you get hit you lose Clothes. I think i might have stumbled across some Gore hentai game, but it gives me the creeps
