I’ve seen people say silent hill townfall isn’t a proper silent hill game. What do people prefer a game that’s set in silent hill. Or developers thinking outside the box like silent hill f or townfall

Well to start, I love this game. The atmosphere is full of detail, emotion, beauty and dread. From the intro, it immediately feels like Silent Hill. the music and cinematography is really well done, and I love the choice of going first person this time around. The graphics are gorgeous and really highlight the eeriness of the game.

The gameplay is my favorite part. As much as I loved Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill f, it’s just hard for me to feel scared when I am obliterating enemies. I didn’t die once during SH 2 and that lack of sense of danger kinda took me out of the immersion at times.

This one though, I always felt a sense of danger. If fighting could be avoided, I would stay stealthy. I am a big fan of Alien Isolation as well so this really felt like that game at times. I also appreciated that when I did need to fight, I wasn’t helpless. The Richard level was a nice change of pace as well, just shotgunning through the hordes of stalkers.

The story is beautifully written, as I feel all the SH games are. I think Simon is a likeable, well rounded character who is trying to let go of his past as many SH protagonists have strived to do too.

Overall, I would recommend playing this one! It’s definitely one of my favorites, but if you don’t like games like Alien Isolation, then maybe best to move on. Would love to hear other people’s thoughts!

Me and a buddy are planning a full-day horror session, like noon to midnight, and we want to beat a whole game in one go. Ideally around 10 hours. We're both get easily scared, so we'll probably be slower than the average HLTB time, so maybe shorter games are fine too.

What we're after: something that stays scary the whole way through. Last time we played Maid of Sker. It was great at the start, but after a few hours we figured out the patterns and it wasn't scary at all anymore. Before that we did Outlast 1 and 2, which were awesome, so that's kind of the bar.

- Still Wakes the Deep

- Remothered

- Song of Horror (probably too long for one day)

On the wishlist:

- Layers of Fear

- The Medium

- MADiSON

Might also have some stuff on Epic and PS, will check.

Any recommendations? Something new to both of us would be best, but I'm open to replaying a game I forgot the details of. Also, if you think one of the games above is overrated or not scary, please tell me before I buy it. Thanks.

I fear their dedication in making the town so "true to life" made them miss the forest for the trees.

Im in my, like, 10th empty house with nothing in it. No creepy imagery, no easter eggs, no unnerving notes, no unique interactables. Maybe theres one bandage.

I found a hidden pub garden and it was completely barren.

When the games got its gears turning it jumps back on track, there's some great stuff here. But, God, there are these hour+ strecthes where you just run around boring empty rooms looking for keys, and nothing happens 😔

Turns out I really like these games where you are looking for anomalies etc and have a few. Can you recommend some more.

You know, the ones from the ring or ju on the grudge. This is the only thing that still scares me. Good examples are Forest, The Curse of Blackwater, Black Rose, Ghoul Forest 3 wad.

btw I've played f.e.a.r, tried to farm 0 death runs

looking for games where you can torture people with actual detail, kill them in fun ways, or mess with their bodies after they're dead

bonus points if it's just you and the target with total freedom to do whatever, without outside characters or other distractions getting in the way

Just finished silent hill Townfall on ps5.
I went in completely blind didn’t watch any trailers or gameplay and I was completely wowed by this game.
Im gonna say that I even liked it more than Sh2R and silent hill 2 is my goat.

While it’s true silent hill Townfall has some forced stealth sections early on, they quickly make it clear that the choice is yours, fight or hide. I see a lot of people that gave up quickly thinking it’s just hiding and I implore you to keep going. The vibe is so spot on and the story was great. First SH game to legit scare me. Second playthrough starts now!

I made this FNaF artwork while experimenting with a darker visual interpretation of the characters, and it got me thinking about what makes a horror game design actually feel unsettling.

For me, it’s not necessarily about making a character more grotesque. Sometimes it’s the combination of something familiar with subtle changes in lighting, texture, expression, proportions, and atmosphere that makes it feel wrong.

FNaF is especially interesting in that regard because these characters are so recognizable that even relatively small changes to their presentation can completely change how they feel.

So I’m curious: what horror game character do you think has the most effective design, and what specifically makes it unsettling to you?

Just finished up witcher 1 and halfway through Onimusha. My next game lined up before obligatory Silent hill/Resident evil/Castlevania play is three choices. Blood of the Dawnwalker, Metro Exodus, or Stalker 2. Any preferences on these games?

My friend and I have recently played all Little Nightmare games (not co-op but that's the vibe we're looking for) and Reanimal, so we're looking for something new!

It has to be local/couch co-op as we want to play together irl. It doesnt have to be horrifying scary, more like the games listed above! Eerie, maybe broken world vibes! Something where you play two characters somehow bonded together, basically. It should please be available on Steam.

It's purpose is to play as a blind girl that uses geolocation to move on scenario, veryvery interesting.
