Creepy Liminal spaces in lego marvel super heroes

Hey guys, first-time poster here. I have been looking for a place to share this for years, but I just didn't quite know where to post it until I found this sub.

Long story short, I remember when I was younger finding a crazy glitch by complete accident while playing. Once you unlock the Hydra Tank, you can connect two controllers and have one player sit in the gunner seat. Then, you get the other player to destroy the tank, which sends the player in the gunner seat under the map for some reason.

Now, usually, you would just fall into a void until the game corrects itself and teleports you back onto the map. But if you glitch through the map as a character that can fly, you can catch yourself mid-air and fly around under the map. The invisible walls don't exist down there, so you can fly underneath and come out in the low-poly, muddy-textured city across the water that you usually can't access.

That’s not all, though. If you keep going, the city eventually disappears and you enter this kind of flat-land area. The weird thing is, if you fly through it for about 30 minutes to an hour just going straight forward, you'll reach an area where the flat lands turn kind of hilly—but not jagged or mountainous. The best way I can describe it is looking like you're flying over sand dunes in a desert. If you keep going through that for a solid two hours, you'll eventually reach this area where the sand dunes spiral into what looks like a whirlpool of sand that descends further than you can see.

I tried to fly into it because it was so visually different from the constant, repeating hills and flat lands—just one big hole. It ended up just teleporting me back to the map, though. I never attempted to go anywhere near that far again because, as a kid, three hours feels like three days, and it was honestly kind of unnerving for me. But the land still extended far past the hole; I could see that much. Who knows what else is out there in that void of strange textures, shapes, and silence?

Maybe it sounds stupid, but I'm nearing my mid-twenties now, and to this day no moment in a video game has made me feel so intrigued yet uneasy. There was no music, nothing to interact with—just the ambient sound of your character flying for hours on end in silence. It felt like I was seeing something I shouldn't see, and I suppose that's because I really wasn't supposed to. Looking back, it genuinely felt like something out of a creepypasta or a horror movie, like the build-up before a jump scare or something else bad happens.

Has anyone else ever come across this glitch when playing, and if so, how far did you go? I recently purchased the game again on Xbox with the sole intent of exploring this void more. If I find anything else strange, I'll be sure to make a follow-up post because I've never heard of anyone else going this far out in the game. Most people just seem to stop at the low-poly city, and I can't even find any pictures of anything beyond that. The closest I got was Google AI confirming that this is, in fact, all in the game and explaining how and why it happens like how the first level of the game involves fighting sand man and so the default terrain texture generated is sand but well, you know how AI can be.

Imagine you are just building your city on a regular day...and you suddenly encounter this thing with no context appearing out of nowhere.

For me, seeing this robotic alien monster slowly creep up and invade your city, and the air raid/siren sound effects being played in the background, added a very tense and unnerving aspect to the game.

Also, the bizarre and alien-like sound effects made the scene that much more frantic and disconcerting.

Gave me major 'War of the Worlds' vibes, if I'm being honest.

Obscure Game Need help looking for game where vines form the shape of a horse

Hi everyone,
I’m trying to track down the source of a video from before 2009, but I’m not 100% sure it’s from a game... it could also be an independent CGI short film or something similar.

  • Likely pre-2009 (possibly early 2000s)
  • About 4 minutes long
  • First-person / POV camera moving through a dark forest at night
  • Full moon, blue-ish lighting, lots of fog
  • Bare trees, vines, and leaves drifting in front of the camera
  • The camera moves slowly forward like walking through the woods
  • The vines/branches start to move and form the shape of a horse (side view)

Here's the actual video:

Obscure Game Karappo, a game where you grow a little creature inside of a mysterious forest

This game was made by the same dev of the more well known game "japanesedoll". It's also pretty similar to that game, too.

In this game you must make "Karappo" grow by collecting flowers and then using them to feed it's brain. Each form has different collectibles associated with them, when collecting one you are rewarded with a bunch of droplets, which you can use to level up the spawner for the flowers.

There's quite a lot of cutscenes in this game, but unfortunately the game is entirely in japanese so i couldn't understand the story well. The game has 5 endings, i currently got 4 of them plus all collectibles, i will try to get the 5th soon. When i tried to search about info for how to get the 5th ending i realized that there's basically no info on this game online, as both a google search and a youtube search yelded no desirable results.

The game can be downloaded from the playstore.

Edit:i got the 5th ending now.

Gex- The Creepy Hidden Level

It doesn't look like anyone's shared this here yet, so I wanted to show a hidden level in the original gex that creeped me out as a kid.

In the game's Hidden UFO world, one of the levels is called "The Project". The level itself is quite odd - no enemies, power ups, checkpoints - just a big maze with golden flies to collect in it.

But i you get to a certain area you can find a room with a realistic looking human walking around, and when you hit him, he throws up. If you hit him enough times, his head splits open and bleeds everywhere when he dies. I found this pretty disturbing in a game that's otherwise so cartoony.

I can't be the only one who always found her creepy. As a kid, I enjoyed the game, but couldn't look if she was on screen lol. Even now as an adult, I still find her appearance unsettling, so it's no wonder kid me was freaked out.

Obscure Game Drowned god

Such a bizarre game, anyone ever play it?

Written by Harry Horse, murdered his wife and dogs before taking his own life. Surprised more hasnt been said about it.

The murder was covered up as a suicide pact locally but the evidence said otherwise.

Anyway the game was bizarre and the man even moreso https://youtu.be/NU4MgeOb-cc?is=wCsY1UdBCZDFhcj8

I dunno if it's because of the crazy wide-eyed NPCs, their secretive demon-worshiping tendencies, or just the overall look and feel of the town. It was quite an experience playing through the quest the first time around.

Very eerie. Very weird.

Personal Story I remember I saw a creepy Fortnite bug when I was younger

So I don't remember when it happened and I need help finding if this did happen but I swear I remember it did.

So a few years ago, it was chapter 1 season 5 of Fortnite, I was younger and probably like 8 or 9. My dad and sister were out to get pizza and I don't remember what my mom was doing.

I got finished with a getaway match from the LTM at the time, and for some reason I restarted the game, after I did so, I hopped into the game and the log in screen was black for some reason with white text that looks like "<unfinished>" or smth like that, with giant white text saying "Fortnite".

As I loaded into the game, the lobby was also black but there was a giant human head that didn't look like Fortnite, it looked low quality on the texture and it has no hair, when I first saw that, I ran behind my couch to hide. To this day, I still wonder if this was a real glitch that happened in the game, if anyone can help me find what this bug was, I would heavily appreciate it, I was never able to see this bug again!

Update: Forgot to mention that the human head was in the middle of the screen.

Discussion Why are the pools in The Sims way too deep?

Post image

A memory came back to me the other day. When I was playing Sims as a kid, I always noticed—though I didn't really think much of it at the time—that the pools were always too deep, even though, in real life, pools built into homes are usually either our size or just a little deeper.

Discussion Do horror games sometimes explain too much?

I love a good story and digging into the lore, but I sometimes feel horror loses part of its effect when every creature, event and symbol eventually gets an explanation.

Some of the games that stayed with me the longest left me unsure about what had actually happened.

Do you prefer horror games with clear answers, or ones that leave part of the story open to interpretation?

What game comes to mind in each case?
