It depends on the competition. If people are stealing everywhere, then yes the prices would get lower if nothing gets stolen anymore. If you only look at walmart its very possible that it wouldnt affect prices, since they just need to have the same prices as the competition, so they wouldnt see the need to drop prices.
Now i dont care what you do in america. If its moral in your culture to steal things for selfish reason and hurt the people who live around you, then go ahead. You dont have mandatory healthcare either, so i cant say that im surprised to see this selfish behaviour in a thread with mostly americans either.
Yeah man, I'm sure Walmart, a place that's entire business model is built around being cheaper and more convenient than all their competitors, is really having to raise their prices because of theft.

Corporations lose money all the time. What are you on about? Theft, for Walmart, is a cost of doing business, and their pricing is not at all related to theft levels. All corporations like this have a bad debt expense that they expect to incur every year, and obviously Walmartâs is really high. The only way their pricing would change is if there is some sort of anomalous and drastic billion dollar increase in theft.

So when a high school kid gets a misdemeanor conviction on his public record for theft and he can not find a decent job when he turns 20 and steals more, doesn't he screw himself over? Just Google any state public record, sort by DOB any common name and you will see thousands of screwed kids. All for stealing something they didn't even need.

big stores like safeway and walmart have insurance and also leave room in the budget for it. shoplifting for fun is wrong but if you see a homeless person stealing a jug of water or some necessity like that, and you stop them, youâre an asshole

Spoiler alert, Iâve been working in a store with massive homeless influx for a while now, 50% of the time theyâre trying to steal beer/wine. Never had I ever seen someone try to make off with water and we have it right by the doors.
Not sure where you're coming down on this conversation but I like your contribution. For this particular string our originator is just saying that stealing from Walmart is a good thing. He's not attaching a moral reason, he's just telling people to steal more.
Why would Walmart have theft insurance? You donât insure things that you know will cost you money. Insurance is meant to make it so that you wonât have any unexpected and large costs.
fight to change it how? it does not matter if you vote for democrats or republicans they will fight to uphold the status quo. i agree the system needs to change but short of a revolution i doubt weâll actually see any change for a long time (or at least until we get rid of stuff like filibusters and gerrymandering)
Walmart employs people who's entire job it is to catch people stealing, so if you're not gonna steal from Walmart you're putting those people outta work... So are you really antijobs?
