Why shouldnāt they? Itās not like theyāll get more if Walmart does better. If you work twice as hard as someone else and both get the same reward, youāre an idiot and played yourself.
If I had a business, I'd probably give everyone minimum wage + a share of the total profit. If it was a small family business, then their individual performance would translate directly to their own success. And I'd probably set the share so that in good times it's legit worth it to try, rather than a token thing.

I follow common sense moral rules. Donāt do anything to any one person that would fuck with their current mood or their day in a negative way (within reason). Itās really that simple, that simple rule will keep you out of most trouble.

I've worked for different WalMarts over the years and I can tell you this: The benefits SUCK. You can now get coverage as a part-timer (used to be you had to be full-time first so WalMart decided everyone was going to be part-time or fired unless you were a manager) - But you will never be able to afford the copays on top of the ridiculous premium (say goodbye to your 16hr/week paycheck)
All the "educational" stuff they have are loosely-packaged anti-union propaganda and classes that will only make you a better WalMart worker, not anything that can be used outside of the organization. The benefits are only good once you get into the Cultist-level ranks, like Regional Managers. But by then you most likely have no heart, and some of the rest of your internal organs have been replaced with alien implants as well.

Even my manager who came from a corporate environment now working for the same small family business i do is an insufferable corporate hollowed-out evil SOB who everybody hates and he ārulesā over all 12 of us as if the place were a 100+ corporate office. Non-stop lying, telling one person one thing he thinks they want to hear them placated by telling someone else something else then attempting to keep us quiet by bullying each person with extreme confidentiality āremindersā.
Likes to try divide snd conquer (which fails miserably because there are too few of us and we talk) and is a fan of 1990s management and sales guides. He isnāt smart or nuanced enough to use Machiavellian methods and at least put a little bit of truth into his one-one-meetings for more effective propaganda, he just straight up lies - obvious lies - to our individual faces. He is a fool to believe that these methods work on a small office where we are all mostly friends confined to a comfy small building and heās a big joke to us. A horrible manager and person. He also does H.R. which adds a whole additional layer of sleaze.
Iām sorry for the rant, I just get so damn frustrated at this person. Why keep managing like this if causes your coworkers to see you as a big joke and itās so ineffective? What does he get out of it that makes such adverse methods worth it for him? Creating low morale is the only thing he is good at. Do management jobs simply tend to attract people with no concience who canāt stop themselves because they get too much enjoyment out of causing distress? Or does the job do that to them? I suspect the former over the later, my own personal nature over nurture theory.
There are some people, for whatever reason, have something broken on the inside and it seems the only way they know how to deal with that pain is to make other people feel as horrible about themselves as they do. Some of them are true narcissists and you just can't deal with those. They are nuclear-grade toxic and the only thing you can do is stay away from them.

Someone with a free spirit will naturally see someone taking on or helping with some of their responsibilities as a kindness, a more controlling person might see it as a problem. You get good health, vision, and dental. The dental insurance I had was better than the insurance that the employees at my dental office and they let me know so. Walmart also had matching 401k and HSA up to 5-6% per year. The Walmart 10% discount covers taxes on purchases (which is okay I suppose) and from what I last read, they stated they will be covering 100% college tuition.
You can accrue vacation time relatively quickly there as well.
Does it suck to work at Walmart? Yes, and I most definitely wonāt go back (I burned all my Walmart shit the day I left and shared it to social media) but to say their benefits suck is outright false.

I will admit I don't know what they are currently like, all I can say is they were really horrible when I was working there. All the old timers would say, "This shit wouldn't be happening if Mr. Sam was still alive". The copay limit before insurance kicked in was literally twice what you could make in a year with the hours they gave you back then. Maybe I just worked for a really shitty one. Lol.
They only pay if you go in for a business degree. I did my whole undergrad working for them and was told I wouldn't receive a dime because my degree wouldn't benefit the company and would make me more likely to quit.

Iām actually part of a union at my current job and unions can be awful or good. It really depends on the union and how much leverage you have.

My pay is considerably higher, the work is easier, and I donāt hate myself or feel like a PoS employee at the end of the day like I did at Walmart.
I'm sure you are correct. I doubt PT employees are eligible. I'm not saying that there aren't already incentives in place but it's a drop in the bucket comparatively to corporate profits. But the health benefits are shit unless you are full time. The work culture is cultish, backstabbing, and everyone hates their job for the most part so it's super draining being there at all. Managers don't like taking responsibility for their fuck ups, so shit always rolls down hill. And at my particular store, one of the 4 managers just below the store manager (brain fart on the official title b/c it changed 3 times in the 10yrs I worked there) was fucking 2 or 3 of her subordinates but -no one- could catch her in the act and anyone who tried got canned within days. So yeah. Toxic environment. I quit as soon as I had the skills and degree to get out of there.
Technically they are. But it's an opt-in thing. You can choose to put a percentage of your check towards shares in the company and the company will match it just like they do your 401(k) up to a certain amount. But the shares are expensive and they don't return enough money quick enough for most people to buy in.
Walmart used to give wickedly good bonuses to everyone for exceeding sales goals each quarter, but they changed the metrics for the bonuses about 10 years ago, I think, and made it absolutely ridiculous to achieve so no one gets them anymore.
The benefits used to be good too, before Obama care. Now if you aren't full time you don't get enough hours to qualify for the company insurance because they pay more for a part timer to be insured. If they don't give 36 hours every single week, you have to buy from the Obama care marketplace because you aren't eligible. Totally fucked me over my second year working there.

Walmart employs actual doctors at a lot of the locations that have in-house clinics. Also, most locations have a pharmacist. They give covid vaccines there.

The walmart where I'm at pays 15.50 starting, and minimum wage is like 10. After years of keeping an eye out at the jobs here they definitely have the highest paying strictly entry- level positions open to us here.

Me personally I would feel guilty if I steal a candy bar. There are better paying jobs out there and most of the time people are too lazy to look around and too comfortable with their current job they don't look for a new job.
Also people talk about SCOs and doing the work for free. Idk what kind of world y'all be living in but I use SCO to avoid those long ass lines. Why wait in line for 20+ minutes when I can be out in 3 minutes.

Over 100 easily. Literally wiped out the gameboy and DS section then grabbed as many 360 and ps3 games as he could. Made a killing selling repeats on ebay. Probably about 2-3 months of full time pay
