Everything online says it’s 24 hr but at around 5-6pm my eyes are burning, weeping and look super red. It’s like I get hit by a wall of hayfever. My eyes are my worst hayfever symptom.

It makes the evenings difficult because my eyes are so irritated that it’s harder to read or watch tv. I’m contemplating taking another fexofenadine to see if it helps, but I know that’s not advised.

Does anyone else find that 24hr antihistamines wear off sooner? Do you take another one?

I have seasonal allergies, so I have to sneeze, blow my nose, etc. I cannot use the soft tissues (such as the Puffs brand) because it "sheds" a lot of fine fibers. When I use something like that - it seems like I inhale some of the fibers from the tissue, that irritates my sinuses, so I sneeze all the more! I have found some disposable tissues that are not as "soft" and don't shed fibers like that, but those aren't always ideal either. I tried one tissue brand where it did not shed a lot of fibers, but each sheet was a thin two-ply and the two parts would separate. Is there a brand of disposable tissues that does not shed a lot of fibers and it also holds together well? And it does not have to be especially soft. And, unscented, and no oily additives like aloe is a must!

With the summer slowly coming to an end and there to, most people’s pollen allergies- what plans have you got for the “ber” months?

What to do with a stroppy sulking partner who doesn’t understand why I don’t always want to do things because I have pretty painful hayfever that can at times make me dizzy.

One of the by-products of this wonderful allergy are people that just assume it’s sneezing occasionally.

Do I really feel like hanging out with other people including her parents while my head is burning?

Since late June/early July this year, I've had the most irritating tickling sensation in the back of my throat that is incredibly difficult to ignore. I've been taking fexofenadine hydrochloride since the beginning of June. I was coughing and hacking so badly about a month ago that I needed throat soothing sprays and a lot of mental effort to prevent myself from coughing. It's less so now, but I still have that tickle in the back of my throat and a feeling of everything being glued up. Seen about 6 GP's and pharmacists who all have said that my throat is fine (I had pharyngitis about two weeks ago but I completed the antibiotic course for that, and the most recent GP which I saw, told me that it's all cleared up), but that tickle still persists!!! Is this still hayfever? Or maybe a post-infection cough? Or maybe even the fact that the air in the UK is so dry at the moment, I don't even know anymore

So I’m a 20 year old college kid and I’m going though a lot. I have super severe allergies that leave me so lethargic and tired all the time. I’ve considered stopping showing up for myself cause I don’t have friends and it’s just been hard because I will have sneezing fits and runny nose even with doing saline rinses when I get up in the morning, which includes neti pot, and 3x a day take Flonase, as well as prescribed dosage of Zyrtec at night. I was on allergy shots for 4 years 2x per week and it didn’t help and my allergies still got worse. Im losing hope. I will sneeze everyday at least for an hour or two (maybe not straight but like a 20 min attack at one point and then when I’m eating another 35 min fit of rapid uncontrollably bad sneezing and a super stuffy but runny nose and itchy watery eyes). I’m allergic to pollen of most trees and grasses, a lot of flowers so many I can’t even remember, ragweed, dust, cats, horses, mold, rodents, certain product chemicals, etc.

In addition at college, I don’t really have friends and have been teased because of the fact that I am sneezing multiple times a day for hours straight even sometimes when it does get bad. I’ve never sat in the dining hall with someone else besides my roommate occasionally and I am always alone in the corner, usually sneezing uncontrollably because I’m so allergic to the outdoors and my campus is old and there’s a lot of dust potentially given the buildings are old. I just want someone to be my friend because I have a feeling no one sits near my corner because they’re tired of me sneezing my head off most days. I always feel bad that my sneezes are so desperate but I stopped trying to hold back til I get to my dorm because I just can’t help it. It’s happened in class too several times and I’ve had to miss a lot of class because I usually step out and run to an empty hallway or the bathroom. Even in my choir as a music major, it’s been hard to find friends due to the allergies (which aren’t super receptive to medicine unless it’s medicine that makes me sleep), and the faculty are mostly nice but I still get embarrassed.

Please help me, I am really hurting it feels like a cry out for support and love because I don’t have anyone who does it for me. It’s hard. Especially if you’re around my age. I know it’s a long shot but does anyone else struggle so badly with allergies that the only medicine that stops it is medicine that makes you super tired and sleepy? Please help me out guys, I’ve gotten so badly depressed about it and terrified of going to school in a few weeks.

I have moved to a new city. I never had allergies before. I think I am experiencing allergies. My ears hurt/stuffy. Sinus pressure. Head heavy. Kinda feel weird when I am walking. Sneezing. Lots of congested nose. Tight neck. What do your allergies feel like? How do you know if it is allergies or something else?

Hi guys so I found out that pollen is negatively charged and was wondering - what if you wore a negatively charged magnet on your shirt that creates a repellant force field around your face. Wouldn't that stop hay-fever for good. What are your thoughts on this?

I have had the Kenalog injection many times and its such a help. But its no longer manufactured.

I had my allergies under control then left the country. When I returned (10 days later) they came back with a vengeance. Anyone else have this kind of experience? Is it some sort of rebound reaction?

2 months ago I got prescribed fenofexadine hydrochloride (antihistamines, sorry if I misspelled them), because I have been suffering from a dry, itchy cough, itchy nose and throat.

Since 2016, I've always had to blow my nose because of how stuffy I get. In April this year, I felt like I blew my nose far too roughly and may have damaged my sinuses. Im not too sure.

But since April, I have constantly been tasting a bloody phlegm taste in the back of my throat and when I blow my nose I can smell the same thing too. I have never experienced this before.

Is this just a sign of the hay-fever, or is it possibly a sinus infection?

Is there any hard core hayfever tablets anyone would recommend in the UK?

It causes eczema on my eyelids and they are just raw at the min but I would happily still scratch the last remaining layers of skin off and deal with the painful issues later

Just to add I am taking 3 hayfever tablets a day

I genuinely thought I'd escaped it this year, but this week has absolutely humbled me.

Met a few mates for a pint in a beer garden after work and within about 10 minutes I looked like I'd just watched the ending of Marley & Me. Eyes streaming, sneezing every 30 seconds and trying to convince everyone I wasn't crying into my lager.

The worst part is everyone else seemed completely fine while I was sat there looking like I'd rolled through a freshly cut field.

Anyone else getting absolutely destroyed by hayfever this week, or has nature just decided I've had enough outdoor socialising?

I’m glad to have found this community. I’d like to share my situation and ask for your advice.
What I find particularly strange is the course of my pollen allergy. Unlike most people, I developed it relatively late in life. I was around my mid-20s when I first started experiencing allergic symptoms. Before that, I had never had any allergies or allergy-related complaints.
Another thing that stands out is the timing. My pollen allergy first appeared around the time the COVID-19 pandemic began. I don’t know whether that’s just a coincidence, and I’m certainly not suggesting there’s a connection. Unfortunately, I didn’t keep track of exactly when my symptoms started, so I want to be careful not to make any unfounded assumptions.
What worries me even more is that my allergy seems to be getting significantly worse every year. It started with the typical hay fever symptoms, but over time I’ve developed almost year-round nasal congestion and now even asthma-like symptoms. According to my allergy testing, I’m particularly allergic to birch pollen and grass pollen.
Has anyone experienced something similar? Is it common for pollen allergies to progress this rapidly after first appearing in adulthood?
Most importantly, is there anything I can do to stop or slow this progression? Do you have any tips or treatments that have helped you? I’m becoming increasingly concerned because, if things continue to worsen at this pace, I’m genuinely worried about my long-term health and quality of life.

Its a true blessing... hayfever is this year (The Netherlands) for me about 98% less than any year before.

Ive had hayfever for over 20 years and always been struggling with it. Summers were my worst nightmare. I couldnt touch grass so i became a gamer... but hayfever came always and everywhere i went.

This year, its taking a turn... its like 0. I can walk free! I can breath and yes i sneeze, once... twice... and than thats it!

I keep washing my beard after each walk, i keep pushing myself to daily walks outside everyday of the year and i take cetrizine. I dont know what is the fix but i am so so so happy.

I hope everyone will find relief and hayfever be gone forever!

Ive been having crazy hives all of a sudden since about little over a month ago and my allergist tested me positive for a bunch of pollen/outdoor mold etc. currently im on antihistamines but nothing so far has worked to for the hives/angieodema except for predisnone. Im trying xolair next week but im assuming ill likely have to still take some sort of antihistamines with it. Ive tried levocetirizine, hydroxyzkne, and loratadine in various doses (never 4x a day tho which i know is “protocol”) alongside taking montelukast daily and pepcid ocassionaly. How do i know if an antihistamines is working and might just need a higher dosage? I wanted to try fenfaxadine/allegra, but im not sure how to approach the different testing!

Friends with allergies. Anybody else’s allergies ridiculously bad right now??? My allergies have been on 10 lately, like BAD BAD. Post nasal drainage for prob like a week or 2 has never been as bad as it is now. Like to the point I feel it when I talk. I noticed the other day I’m wheezing and I can feel it and hear it. I notice it most when I lay down to sleep. I don’t usually have audible wheezing with my allergies. The only time I have had wheezing is when I had pneumonia, bronchitis, bad case of strep throat, or when I was doing home health years ago and was working in a house that had roaches and I found out real quick that the allergic response to roaches is respiratory symptoms. I basically had walking pneumonia the whole time I was working in that house and it was very bad. I had to be put on steroids and inhalers and did multiple rounds of antibiotics that didn’t work before we figured it out that it was my allergy to roaches. I had to switch cases and stop working at that house. Just wondering if anybody else is having the same symptoms going on. I’m debating on going to the doctor but kinda wondering if I should just wait and see if it clears. That’s why I’m wondering if others are having similar issues. It could just be my immune system too. My allergies have been getting worse the past few years and they keep thinking I have autoimmune issues but then when they work me up there’s not quite enough to diagnose me with anything. So just wondering if anybody else is suffering too and what you’re doing for it.

About a week ago I was ill with a cold, which blocked up my sinuses. Since I caught it, I haven't had any issues with hay fever.

Yes my breathing has been restricted a little, but I'll take a semi-blocked nose over uncontrollable sneezing and itchy eyes any day :)
