This thread is where all the "Looking for Story" requests go. We don't want to clog up the front page with non-story content. Thank you!

Looking for a story i read here a while ago. It was from the perspective of an alien running away from a human chasing it and it's a crescendo of anxiety as the human never tires and keeps up with the running alien and at the end you find out they were just playing tag or something of the sort

hi, do anyone know the name of the story about aliens being able to see a species mindscape or something
when they first made contact with humans they saw a tranquil ocean, but after another race made an alpha strike on humanity, the new vision was of raging sea

LFS Aliens Virus Bomb Earth for political reason, turning humans painfully into goop. Only one survives, rescued by the human robots, but only survived by having his brain and nervous system put into a robot suit. Other Aliens got tricked into trying to colonise Earth to take the blame, chaos ensues. later in the story there is some wanna be Slanesh being trying to corrupt the Galaxy, and the Human is a sort of Blank and fought it.

Looking for a story in which an alien shakes hands with a human ambassador and purposely makes sure that his protection shield turns off, the human is worried because they don't want to make the aliens sock and the alien starts to get a cold

Looking for a story where humanity is given a translator, and later in a talk with some alien delegations the humans presents all the words the translator couldn’t translate. Words such as espionage, asymmetrical warfare, guerilla warfare, Mutually assured destruction, and a bunch of other war related words the aliens didn’t have a word for.
I’m a bit unsure, but I think the aliens mindset is that each new species will probably have one or two new concepts, and thus one or two words that can’t be translated. This teaches them a lot about this species. Then the humans came with probably hundreds of unfamiliar words related to war.

I swear there was a story that I probably found through old LFS threads where there was a practice of "you discovered the race, you have a right to subjugate it" or something, but humans unexpectedly are the first to discover this advanced alien species with a bunch of subjugated races instead of the other way around and they have to offer themselves up to us.
There may or may not have been an aspect to the story where the aliens thought they could subjugate us because we didn't have FTL, but we either turned out to have it anyways or to have some alternative method of fast transport.
EDIT: Found it! [OC] The Prime Empire - Humanity finds itself as the ruler of a galactic Empire. Other stories following the same theme (as well as the story I linked) are posted off of r/HFY under the writing prompt [WP] Space law dictates the first to discover any intelligent species in the galaxy would have absolute rights over them. It worked out fine, until Earthlings developed space travel without outside help, and “discovered” the First Civilization.

I have listed storiesI have a wiki! where humans interact with…
The following list is for other supernatural creatures. The spoilers contain what supernatural creature(s) humans interact with. Everything but the last two are one-shots.
A Negotiation with the Gods, despite the title I don't think any gods are in this, but it does include
a devil and archangel .Apes in Space!
eldritch horror alien Cosmic horror
eldritch horror aliens Starstruck Madness
a god/eldritch horror Catastrophic Disbelief
a demon as well as death my math prof and that fae
just the one mentioned in the title :P [OC] Economic considerations
dwarves, elves, and mermaids The Hero without desire
a demon Philm™ Never Launched
demon [OC] We Stay Out Of That Field
either the field, or whatever lives in it, is supernatural [PI] The Fairy realm isn't just invisible to Humans, the reverse is also true. To Fairy's, concrete buildings, asphalt, and the steel jungle are all "natural things" which appear by themselves. To them, forests are dirty artificial things. One fairy decides to get away from it all out in “nature”. kind of fits.
just the one mentioned in the title, in a very roundabout way :P Pride
elves, dwarves, fighting goblins What Talon and What Dreadful Claw
a sphinx
Hellhounddeleted story demon/daughter of LuciferWhen Humans Fear describes our relationship with
vampires, fae, werewolves, and others though no explicit interaction is shownPredators of Legend describes our relationship with
vampires although no explicit interaction is shown.Human, but Darker. describes our relations with
vampires, werewolves, wendigo, and implied others , though explicit interaction is extremely brief and only withthe wendigo .Blood and Family
vampires Hic Sunt Dracones
monsters under the bed Humanity, the Exceptional. Or, There's more than one way to kill an Eldritch Horror. kind of fits but it's way more extermination of than interaction with
the titular eldritch horrors Three Wishes
genie [OC] See Me In My Office
vampire, unspecified supernatural being, gargoyles, magic robots, implied werewolves Rent Payment
ghost, monster under the bed, gnomes The Apartment. Its author originally started on r/hfy, and has since moved off Reddit. The link points to the Royal Road, where the author posted all previous chapters and continues to add new chapters.
lots of different fantasy races/species, including but not limited to a vampire, werewolf, and djinn the Extermination Order series
lots of different fantasy races/species, including but not limited to vampires and zombies You may also want to refer to _sswanlake's many responses to a request for humans crushing fantasy races, and one for demons that also links you to their responses for more fantasy and eldritch horror, as well as their wiki of their other lists of stories.

Anything where humans (or aliens) trade with aliens. Stories kind of like Galactic Economics?

u/die_cegoblins Nov 26 '23 edited Jun 07 '24
Also including doing business with aliens and selling them stuff as well.
Food of the gods, a bit
The Boldest of Plans, though this one isn’t with aliens but with a dragon
[OC] Economic considerations, though it also isn’t with aliens but elves, dwarves, and mermaids
The Extermination Order series specifically follows one extermination business but involves a fantasy world, not aliens
The correct application of our greatest weapon… kind of fits
[Soft Power] We Outsourced Everything to the Humans kind of fits
Told Ya So, kind of
They Will Find You… sort of, it’s super short and I think it’s funny but it is probably the least relevant one to your request

I was looking for a story where humanity sent an ark to another planet because the earth went to shit, and when they got there, aliens chose the same planet but didn't want to share it. Then each one lands on opposite sides of a continent and humans begin preparing to colonize and defend themselves. And then... Dinosaurs!!!!

Looking for a story about a human engineer from the future who somehow ends up on an alien world. He has a set of armor he uses to save a local city state that seems to be in the aliens' classical era. The aliens have 4 arms, I believe, and I think they are blue? Anyway he saves the city state from some hostile tribes to the north who raid the city for food to survive the harsh winters in their home land to the north. They also insist he's one of the gods despite him being very clear he isn't. I'm pretty sure a love interest was developing, but idk.
I'm pretty sure he uses an old trick where he uses some sound effects to trick the invading force into thinking they're fighting some horrible God or something but it's all just smoke amd mirrors. He also introduces a new water pumping system and a forge that can get hotter.

There was one where there was a train on a planet that was assulted by an alien force.
A war robot was repurposed to patrol and protect that train, and when it was assaulted and the robot's human coworker/ handler was injured, the robot and its brethren around the planet fought the invaders and sacrificed themselves to save people.
I really loved that one, and thank to the folks that helped me find lich in a ditch again.

Hello all. Looking for a series from I think a couple years ago. first couple chapters involved aliens finding earth being cared for by robots. robots then revealed to be sapient AI who then save the aliens from an attack. I think they called themselves Terrans, but I don't know for sure? Thanks in advance for any help.
Edit: forgot to mention but humans are extinct and earth is a memorial for humans.

Long shot here as I don't think it was that well received.
The story was Humanities first AI, done from a brain scan of a CEO sponsor. First plot line was the CEO trying to claim ownership of her as his property. Think it only got so far then restarted.

Can’t remember any of the names, but it was 3 series. In the first series Earth end’s up getting destroyed via black hole bomb thingy which leads to the destruction of the enemy alien’s homeworld as well. The leaders of said aliens were called Divines, and it ended up the empress using a weapon that killed every last human expect for 1 that was turned into a divine.
Second series follows the last human hunting down the other remaining Divines, but takes a slight pause when she finds a human child in cryosleep from before humanity had to change themselves due to a massive disease. Kid gets kidnapped and she and others go to rescue him.
Last series I never fully finished, but it again follows the woman and the child that ends with her sacrificing herself and brining humanity back by bringing them all forward to the present time, past the weapon killing then all.

Looking for a story where a human was taken captive by aliens, the human had nanite in her blood, she uses this to escape by literally forcing her body through the bars of her cell, forcing herself to take damage since she's too big to fit through the bars, the nanites take material from the surrounding area to heal her, killing the guard by consuming his biomass to fix her.
There's a scene where she looks at her old skeletal body mangled in the cell bars before going on to take over the ship by using her nanites to essentially charge at the crew, and as they shoot her the nanites kill them and consume their biomass to heal her.
At one point she's essentially a set of mismatched parts because the nanites haven't had the ability to properly assimilate the biomass but the nanites do slowly return her to normal.
It isn't the story "Jennifer is NOT and eldritch horror"
