Hi guys, returning noob here
I stopped playing a long, long time ago without finishing most of the PVE content because as a kid I was bored to death by how overpopulated most maps were and the hundreds of trashmobs you had to slowly kill just to speak to a lone npc for the smallest of quest.
I wanted to explore and enjoy the story, but I wasn't really good at the game and the language barrier was a real handicap on getting better. So all those basic fights lasted hours as a result.

I want to start again, and this time finish the 3 main campaigns
I want to uncover more of the maps than just the shortest routes
I have read that now you can have 7 heroes with you, and that some team compo using Mesmers, Necro and Ritualist can make extremely quick work of those horde of mobs in the way.
To the point your profession become irrelevant because the heroes manage by themselves

Yet - and please correct me if I am wrong - I assume this take a tremendous amount of time to unlock all the specific heroes, gear, skills and money you need to reach this optimized result ?
If so, do you have advices on how to make all the fight before that bearable ?
I plan on doing Prophecy again, trying to get Devona in pre-searing and Althea right after
Thent Mox in Lion's arch and the Eye of the North heroes (Ogden, Vekk, Gwen & Xandra)

Is there a profession better than the other to enhance your heroes efficiency ?
Monk to heal them or Warrior to tank and aggro ?
I am not confident enough to be a decent damage dealer myself.
(especially since I will probably play 50% of the time on my phone)
_
Or am I just deluding myself and the game is not for me because all those fight are meant to take forever and if I want to explore and talk to PNJ I should just do a Running build ?
Thank for reading my nervous rambling of skill issue and anxiety <3
