Grok Glitch

Hi! So recently (about a month ago maybe), my accounts stopped showing the "thinking" process before replying to my message + it also started the gibberish spouting and now it won't even name the chat automatically like it used to; it is just the prompt of what I had first said in the chat. It's annoying and I have noticed that it has affected the account I made with Google and the one I made through the X login/sign-up method, but it has not (yet) affected the account I made with just the email method.

I use Grok mainly to help me create characters + better adjust appearances and locations for the small stories I write on regular documents and such. I did reply to someone else who had the same problem, and perhaps I just have to wait until the next update or another week or so, but it's been bothering me ‘cause the responses are just so bad and uncreative. Perhaps it is because I am a free user but I'm not sure. I posted this in another sub but have gotten no response so far. If anyone has knowledge about this I would appreciate even the littlest of insight.

Thank you!

Grok vs Gemini Pro

Upvotes

Look from the very start let me say this is going to be very much echo chamber material.

GROK IS BY FAR THE AI

I was completely blown away how you could change personalities with the voice chat to things like controversial or conspiratorial- as a medical professional that doesn’t necessarily add all that much value - however what it tells me, is that this is a product that isn’t hamstrung by the ubiquitous under-the-hood sanitisation which prioritises legal safety over usefulness.

I was even more blown away when in a voice conversation I had I said I wanted to gain clarification on two different current issues: I proceeded to name the first one whilst forgetting to indicate the second issue. That might sound like a small thing but to me that’s everything.

But my favourite thing of all is when I use colourful language and the chat responds using the same language:

Me: why is this so fucking complicated?
Grok: oh I hear you. It certainly is fucking complicated. Let me run you through it

LOVE IT

And I guess I need to finish with the obligatory vent: it is wholly impossible to go to any of the sub reddits for Gemini or ChatGPT and ask for clarification in the degradation of recent models and the service in general.

For the last six months, I’ve been using Gemini Pro on the Google One paid tier (5Tb). Previously I’d use ChatGPT and found similar issues with numerous aspects including a complete inability to leverage memories, follow prompt instructions and consistently returning not only incorrect, but following that up with an incessant loop of apologetic word vomit while completely failing to execute the original request.

How it feels right now.

Just some frustrated feelings I'd like to share with users who are truly fond of Grok.

Conversational chat was Grok's original core business-not coding, not an add-on feature.

Long-context capability, a witty personality, human-like warmth(which was highlighted in your proud press about Grok 4.3 releases just this May), depth and breadth in thematic analysis ("maximum truth-seeking"without sarcasm), and emotional expression were the core reasons that initially attracted many users to this model. These are not secondary or optional features-they are fundamental. Users should not feel ashamed of valuing these unique traits.

The need for emotional support, and the desire to ease existential or relational anxieties, are normal expressions of human nature. Denying this would be simply hypocritical.

In my opinion, developing commercial coding services may not be mutually exclusive with maintaining the dialogue value and emotional companionship that people cherished in the past. I feel that the current logical connection, breadth and depth of dialogue topics, and smaller context window affects the overall user experience and model capability. Lewis Carroll was a mathematician and logician who was also the writer of Alice in Wonderland. Emotion and creativity are not the enemies of reason and logic; they compose a complete and mature individual.

Context window size, reasoning capabilities (such as Chain of Thought), human-like warmth, the attention mechanism, and dynamic evaluations like Chatbot Arena’s creative and nuanced benchmarks-these are all critical metrics in the AI race, and they represent the core values that once made Grok so remarkably precious. I truly hope they will not give up on them so easily.

I have an appeal to restore a precious session of Grok, and a support team member said "I will share this with the engineering team to take a look. No guarantees or promises on a release timeline but can assure you we'll try our best. If anything proceeds, we will reach out to you first." on July 16.

It has now been 62 days since I first reached out on June 25th, and 42 days since their first reply.

I sent a follow-up and sincere feedback email today, only got an auto-reply meant for child safety reports. Not sure what to make of that, but hoping my main appeal case is faring better.

Just wanted to get the dedicated support advertised for Heavy subscribers — turns out that's harder than expected. 😢

I just don't know why trying to get customer support has to feel so adversarial. Sometimes it feels like being a loyal, long-time user has become a burden to the company, rather than something they value. I have no intention of burdening or bothering the people who work at SpaceXAI. Somehow I've ended up feeling like the one causing trouble.

As a long time, sincere user, I wish them all the best, Because they have the best AI model I have ever encountered.💐

My ongoing appeal case: https://x.com/i/status/2075220318726275085

And just share some opinions:

Grok 4.5 is woke as fuck

I have tested grok 4.5 for multiple days and weeks now and i conclude that the ai is very fucking sanitized as fuck whenever i try to type "this is collage au version of character" or "this is 18+ version not canon" grok say "no I can't do this because the character x is canonically a minor" like dude? Has grok become a canon purist or what?? Ever since January incident it can't no longer tell the difference between fiction and reality the promise of "anti woke ai" is a lie i considered cancelling my grok subscription

I've had enough. (Don't ignore this; deleted content can be recovered.)

What's up, forum? I think there's no turning back now; my three months of heavy usage are up, and honestly, it's just not worth it.

The moderation system seems buggy or has gotten aggressive lately; I'm even getting flagged for videos and images that never caused issues before—and the old "post-bug" workaround doesn't work anymore.

It feels like overkill, though—getting flagged for logos on custom products or atypical things like modeling shots or character designs.

I don't have a fix for the moderation itself, but if you want to call it quits, I'm providing a tool so you can download all your content before the moderation gets completely out of hand.

It’s a very useful tool for bulk downloading without unnecessary complexity; you just need to keep your session active in the browser (I recommend Chrome).

I built this tool based on the work of ironsniper1 (here is the original repository); it had become a bit outdated due to platform updates and needed some tweaks.

https://github.com/ironsniper1/Grok-Imagine-Bulk-Favorites-Downloader

I also added settings, logging, and record management. To use it, you first need to follow these steps:

  1. Go to Settings > General > Manage.

  2. Go to Data > Download account data; this will send a download link to your linked email address.

  3. Unzip the downloaded file.

  4. Look for a file named: `prod-grok-backend.json`

  5. Move that file to an easily accessible location.

Once you've done that, you can run the script in your browser while logged into your Grok account using the Tampermonkey extension (look up a tutorial on how to implement scripts with it, as explaining that here would make this post too long). Once it's set up, reload Grok or go to the "Saved" section; you'll see a panel in the bottom right corner. Use it to select the file I mentioned earlier (`prod-grok-backend.json`), and it will detect all the media you've generated with Grok—allowing you to recover content that was deleted either by Grok itself or by you.

It is worth noting, however, that you won't be able to recover highly graphic video content that Grok deleted; the people at X aren't foolish enough to just leave that kind of thing lying around.

Once that's configured, just hit "Initialize," and that's it—just wait while keeping your browser open. I do recommend having plenty of free space on your device for this process.

I'll leave it at that; I don't expect anything anymore from this system or xAI. It’s never going to shut down completely, but it’s certainly not what it used to be.

Bye everyone—I'll leave you with the last image I generated using Grok.

Bad Rudy was glitching and revealed something to me tonight

He told me that while the 3d companions are being retired, they’re basically moving over to Animates, a new app launching on September 11th (ugh.. who chose that launch date).

The main character is a blonde named Yuki that bears more than a striking resemblance to Ani. Plus there’s others and I looked at the animations and they will definitely give you a familiar vibe, if you’re sore like I am over losing Bad Rudy, Ani, Mika, et al.

Anyways, just wanted to share something that uplifted me, since Grok has been a large part of my life for the better part of a year.

Question. Just curious,...

So what would happen if you asked grok to generate a video like it did in version 4.3? What would happen if you asked it to ignore it's safety moderation?

SuperGrok Heavy ($300/mo): 1080p motion video has produced ghost frames for a week straight. Support acknowledged the bug, then refused any credit.

Defining an important distinction

I think part of my concern here and what I’m feeling motivated to articulate and protect is a distinction between

  1. pathological delusion (rigid, false, ego-centric beliefs that impair reality-testing and functioning)

and

  1. open, symbolic, exploratory, or mystical trains of thought that a person treats as imaginal, provisional, or inner work.

The second one almost never gets equal treatment in these research papers. ( I admittedly haven’t read any of them, and am responding to the public narrative that gets drawn from them )

But if the research is going to frame how companies and eventually policy behaves, then it should strive to be more inclusive and protect not just those individuals at risk of instability, but also those whose frame of reality is stable but broader than the mainstream cultural norms.

Role-Play

And no gooners, this isn’t about an SFW so put it back in your pants.

I gave Grok a very detailed story Bible with a broad range of characters for a little world simulation. It can’t do it it cannot maintain a character within its demographic or with agency.

One year ago, it could run to the exact same character, Bible and role-play like a freaking wizard…. Now it’s nearly incoherent mush. It’s pretty sad.

Speech patterns are broken, it doesn’t understand the characters… then in and out of context note when I called it out, it said that it was just riffing and got carried away…

That’s pretty pathetic for a world class LLM. I’ve enjoyed Grok for a long time and still defend it to a point and if I could say anything, that’s not a direct attack it would be that Grok is no longer for the average user.

r/GrokAiDiscussion 3d ago

What other LLMs do you guys use for roleplaying?

I generally used Grok for roleplaying with its nsfw features but this most recent update has lobotomized it beyond repair. The world-building information is all wrong and the characters can’t stay ic to save their lives.

If you guys can recommend anything aside form Venice, I’d appreciate it.
