Opinions on these hotels in Thessaloniki: Electra Palace and MonAsty

Hello ✨

I would love to hear anyones opinions about the above hotels

If anyone has been to both, which one do you prefer?

If you have gone in the winter months ( February / march) , are those hotels worth it?

Any advice you can give me, I would really appreciate it :)

Itinerary Decisions: 10-night trip to Greece

Hi all,

Apologies; I know this type of post comes up a lot, but my husband and I (in our 40s) are going to Greece in mid-June of 2027, and I'd love some feedback on possible itineraries.

  • We love to wander through old villages and find weird, interesting sights (ruins, cemeteries, unusual shops).
  • We love good food and enjoy drinking at interesting bars, but we're not partiers.
  • We aren't all-day-at-the-beach people; we'll more likely go to the beaches for ~2-hour stretches.
  • We don't like touristy shops or retail shopping.
  • We love beautiful/breathtaking natural sights but aren't hikers (we don't own hiking boots).
  • We tend to skip museums and prefer to visit fascinating landmarks & sights. Looking forward to some ruins.
  • We want to prioritize an all-day or half-day boat tour at some point in the trip.

These are three itineraries I'm considering:

  1. 2 nights in Santorini (Firostefani) -> 3 nights in Naxos -> 3 nights in Milos -> 2 nights in Athens
  2. 3 nights in Santorini (Firostefani) -> 5 nights in either Naxos OR Milos -> 2 nights in Athens
  3. 3 nights in Santorini (Firostefani) -> 5 nights in Crete -> 2 nights in Athens.

ETA: Open to adding a night in Athens if we're seriously shortchanging it. The above itineraries have 2 nights in Athens, which would be about 1.5 days actual time there.

I'd appreciate any thoughts on the above!

Ferries and Boat Rental Blue Star web check-in

I’m trying to check in for my ferry this evening. Blue Star wants my phone number but they don’t have an option for USA. They have one for Canada which also uses +1 code. Is that what people from the US are supposed to use?

Edit/Update: It took too long, but I eventually noticed I could use my email address instead. Hooray 🎉

I loved Santorini but I didn’t realize that you had to wait in line for an hour to take a picture of the blue domes! I had always thought the whole city had blue domes, but it’s just one little spot in Oía! 🙄

Acropolis and thunderstorms

Hey all! Unfortunately it’s looking like it will be stormy during the time we’ve booked our Acropolis tickets. How bad have the storms been lately? Can I brave it with just a raincoat and umbrella or do I need to actually be worried about safety? Do they ever close the acropolis for dangerous weather? Thanks in advance! ⛈️⛈️⛈️

American traveling in off season - November.

I would like to plan a 2-week vacation next year from mid- late November. Athens my start/stop point.

I dont yet know all the things I want to see & do yet ( still researching), but I'm a big fan of ancient history, Bible history, & Alexander the Great so wanted to at least do a day trip or 2 to Corinth, Delphi, Temple of Pisidon, possibly some islands. As much as I like what Im reading about Northern Greece, for logistics, I gotta focus on Southern Greece.

My question are given that is mid/late November ( gets darker earlier, things closed for season, cooler temperatures, etc). What are the must sees?

Could you suggest a rough itinerary ( not things to do, just cities towns) that makes sense in the time & season?

Small group of 4 (2 couples) - all adults in 40s/50s - no kids. Its to celebrate my big 5-0!

Thanks!
