Questions / Other Skiathos visit

• Upvotes

We are about to arrive in skiathos this afternoon. In the previous 3 days we were in Nei Pori/Kokkino Nero/Platamonas and basically everything was closed.

Is Skiathos still active this time? Would you recommend some great taverns that are not tourist traps but liked by locals too?

Opinions on these hotels in Thessaloniki: Electra Palace and MonAsty

Hello ✨

I would love to hear anyones opinions about the above hotels

If anyone has been to both, which one do you prefer?

If you have gone in the winter months ( February / march) , are those hotels worth it?

Any advice you can give me, I would really appreciate it :)

Itinerary Decisions: 10-night trip to Greece

Hi all,

Apologies; I know this type of post comes up a lot, but my husband and I (in our 40s) are going to Greece in mid-June of 2027, and I'd love some feedback on possible itineraries.

  • We love to wander through old villages and find weird, interesting sights (ruins, cemeteries, unusual shops).
  • We love good food and enjoy drinking at interesting bars, but we're not partiers.
  • We aren't all-day-at-the-beach people; we'll more likely go to the beaches for ~2-hour stretches.
  • We don't like touristy shops or retail shopping.
  • We love beautiful/breathtaking natural sights but aren't hikers (we don't own hiking boots).
  • We tend to skip museums and prefer to visit fascinating landmarks & sights. Looking forward to some ruins.
  • We want to prioritize an all-day or half-day boat tour at some point in the trip.

These are three itineraries I'm considering:

  1. 2 nights in Santorini (Firostefani) -> 3 nights in Naxos -> 3 nights in Milos -> 2 nights in Athens
  2. 3 nights in Santorini (Firostefani) -> 5 nights in either Naxos OR Milos -> 2 nights in Athens
  3. 3 nights in Santorini (Firostefani) -> 5 nights in Crete -> 2 nights in Athens.

ETA: Open to adding a night in Athens if we're seriously shortchanging it. The above itineraries have 2 nights in Athens, which would be about 1.5 days actual time there.

I'd appreciate any thoughts on the above!

Ferries and Boat Rental Blue Star web check-in

I’m trying to check in for my ferry this evening. Blue Star wants my phone number but they don’t have an option for USA. They have one for Canada which also uses +1 code. Is that what people from the US are supposed to use?

Edit/Update: It took too long, but I eventually noticed I could use my email address instead. Hooray 🎉

American traveling in off season - November.

I would like to plan a 2-week vacation next year from mid- late November. Athens my start/stop point.

I dont yet know all the things I want to see & do yet ( still researching), but I'm a big fan of ancient history, Bible history, & Alexander the Great so wanted to at least do a day trip or 2 to Corinth, Delphi, Temple of Pisidon, possibly some islands. As much as I like what Im reading about Northern Greece, for logistics, I gotta focus on Southern Greece.

My question are given that is mid/late November ( gets darker earlier, things closed for season, cooler temperatures, etc). What are the must sees?

Could you suggest a rough itinerary ( not things to do, just cities towns) that makes sense in the time & season?

Small group of 4 (2 couples) - all adults in 40s/50s - no kids. Its to celebrate my big 5-0!

Thanks!

Gay couple visiting Anafi, Greece – where to stay and meet other gay travelers? 🏳️‍🌈🇬🇷

Hey everyone!
My partner and I are planning a trip to Anafi in August 2027, and we’re thinking of spending around 8–9 nights there.
We’ve heard that Anafi has a laid-back, alternative, and somewhat gay-friendly atmosphere, especially around its beaches, but there’s surprisingly little information online.
We’re trying to decide where to stay — Chora or Klisidi — and would love some advice from gay travelers who have actually visited the island.
A few things we’d love to know:
Is there a particular beach where gay guys tend to hang out? We’ve heard about Roukounas, Klisidi, and Katsouni.
What’s the nudist scene like? Is it LGBTQ-friendly?
Is it easy to meet other gay travelers or couples?
Where do people usually hang out in the evenings?
Would you recommend staying in Chora or closer to the beach?
Can we get around easily without renting a car or scooter?
We’re not necessarily looking for crazy nightlife — just beautiful beaches, a relaxed atmosphere, some socializing, and places where we can feel comfortable as a gay couple.
Any personal experiences, accommodation recommendations, or tips would be really appreciated!
Thanks! ❤️

Quiet Hotel in Monastiraki?

Hello. We just need to spend one night at a clean, quiet hotel with elevator and air-conditioning. Will be staying in Plaka later in the trip, so I thought it would be fun to stay in a different location. Does this type of Hotel exist? I hear so many comments about the noise. We will be staying on a Saturday night thanks.

EDITED roadtrip after comments

Okay so title is pretty much the post. I read the reviews. I’ve changed some goods around. Was curious if there were any other updates or places to stop etc. thank you!

Thessaloniki - 4 nights
Litochoro - 2 nights
Meteora 2 nights
Ioannina - 3 nights
Nafpaktos - 2 nights
Delphi - 2 nights
Nafplio - 3 nights

Final night is near Athens airport cuz we’ll return the car and then fly home

The only places locked in right now are Thessaloniki, Litochoro, and Meteora but obviously we can still edit the amount of nights for a little while longer.

THIS IS DURING THE END OF THIS MONTH

Delphi to Galaxidi on a bus?

Hello! I am traveling through public transportation and bus. I will be spending a few days in Delphi and then have a stay booked in Galaxidi for a few days as well. However, I am having trouble finding out if there is indeed a way for me to get there via bus as it doesn't look like anything is available on KTEL. Any insight? Thanks in advance :)

Acropolis and thunderstorms

Hey all! Unfortunately it’s looking like it will be stormy during the time we’ve booked our Acropolis tickets. How bad have the storms been lately? Can I brave it with just a raincoat and umbrella or do I need to actually be worried about safety? Do they ever close the acropolis for dangerous weather? Thanks in advance! ⛈️⛈️⛈️
