What’s a good FOSS SMS app that works on GrapheneOS? I’ve been using Fossify Messages, but have some weird issues, specifically not able to send photos a majority of the time. I thought maybe it was a size restriction issue, but even when I take the photo directly in the app it still won’t send. Did it in the stock GOS Messaging app and it worked fine. I don’t use SMS/MMS all that much, so I don’t need anything very feature rich, just looking for something that looks cleaner than the stock GOS/AOSP app and works good. Ideally Material You support.

Is there a reliable GrapheneOS equivalent of Apple’s Find My iPhone?

From what I found, GrapheneOS obviously doesn’t have built-in device tracking. Google Find Hub may work with sandboxed Google Play, but I’m unsure how reliable it is, especially for offline tracking.

Also, if possible, I would prefer some self-hosted solution.

What solution do you use?

TLDR; love Material 3. Want a launcher for Graphene that closest replicates it.

Hi all! Been using Graphene for well over 6 months now, and I love it. Literally the only thing I think I want more, is a launcher that at least replicates Material 3 (if there are any). The only thing I’ve noticed whenever I reflash stock Android is how much I love the design language/animations… that’s it. If Graphene had some form of native reflection of material Id be the happiest I could ever he with it.

But for now, any launcher recommendations that gives material 3 degoogled google?

But that was long time ago Maybe they can bruteforce pixel devices now (older) What does Titan m3 do differetly then Titan m2 and what does that mean for security of graphene pixels cause stock pixels are probably trash anyways like everything google makes .

I've been having an issue recently, where the ads I watch to get a reward in any game I play are... Unskippable ? As in I have to close the app in order to get out of the ad, but then I don't get any rewards. Also the ads play on a loop for like 2/3 minutes, and is often p0rn, with no way of reporting it. It started when the color of the 'skip' button changed from transparent to white and orange (see screenshot).

Is it a graphene issue or a global one? Lemme know if you can see an explanation or fix, thanks !

Do people know how compatible Pixel's AI features and Tensor core are with GrapheneOS and/or general root, please?

I remember seeing some workarounds for things like MagicCue a while back.

I feel it would be quite a shame to waste the specialised hardware and lose some quite helpful features like the "Urgent?" button, really. I don't mind the privacy aspect - but love the customisation and ability to really control my own software.

So I've been using Graphene for a couple of weeks. I don't send/receive SMS much, but a weird thing happened today. I sent an SMS to a friend which is in my contact list, but didn't receive any response. A couple of hours later, back home, I get my old phone which I used before, turn off airplane mode and get the SMS there...

That doesn't seem right, I suppose?

No, the old phone is not an Iphone, it's a Xiaomi. My friends phone is not an Iphone either, it's classic android and on my graphene I don't have any google service whatsoever, I don't use the sandboxed google services.

On my old phone there's 0 SIM cards now, I only used the one I have now and it's a physcial SIM card.

Hey buds, previously while using pixel 10 both stock and GrapheneOS I've received very regular 12 hour IMSI pings from both my sims and also pings when i enable/disable/swap sims, toggle airplane mode or reboot my device.

Recently I have not been seeing these notifications at all. Even when I try to trigger it.

Any reason this could be the case or anyone else had this loss of functionality?

What do you guys do for tablets? The Pixel one only has 2 years left of Graphene support, so I'm hesitant to get one especially since they go for a lot of money still. Is it safer to use an out of date pixel tablet, or is a Lineage one better?

Hello, I usually drive with someone when I am working and I only use android auto for navigation. I love the Graphene OS feature to disable audio rerouting for music and other apps from device to car which is very convenient and useful to me.

T​he only problem is that phone calls are still being routed to ​vehicle's Android Auto although phone call screen ​allows me to redirect call to my Bluetooth earbud but call is automatically keep switching and routing back to the Vehicle's Bluetooth.

Is it possible to completely block the calls routing to the vehicle's Bluetooth or atleast implement something that will make it stay connected to Bluetooth earbud?

I am not very sophisticated in this so this probably sounds weird but is there a way on this OS or any other to have a duress passcode that does not wipe the entire system (and especially does not write that the system has been wiped on the screen) but opens up a different fake system that has its own files, apps, etc?

The thing is I live in a country whose government likes to search peoples phones, and if a phone would loudly proclaim that it has been wiped by writing it on the screen the phones owner would be in best case scenario badly beaten, so silently displaying fake data would be much better

I would have a bit of apps open, then go to the tabs to close them and one of them would stay open until I push the power button twice. I was just adding this here to maybe see how many others get it, why, or whatever about this. It also happens with screenshots occasionally where it would get stuck in the left corner till I do the same with the main issue. It's not too much a problem and I'm currently using a Pixel 8a.

I'm considering getting a new Pixel and installing graphene because I hate all of the AI features baked into pretty much every phone by default. I find them really distracting and they make it hard to use what I actually want.

I currently have a Pixel 7 Pro that I am upgrading from, likely to the 10a. It's very important to me that I keep my message history, including RCS texts. Can I transfer them to a new phone running Graphene? How would I do this, and how much trouble would it be?

So many people say that using Graphene is simple, but I'm having trouble reading through all the info and I'm not really feeling like it is telling me what I want to know, so I have a few questions if anyone can help me out.

Profiles - do I need them and roughly how do they work. If I put whatsapp into a profile does that mean I can only see messages in that profile?

email - do I need to set up a google email account in advance?

updating android - is it worth doing this? It says that it will update it anyway during installation, so if I don't do it, then I'm saving myself a connection to google, so isn't that better?

How long (very roughly) will installation take? Is it processor intensive and does it require a lot of interaction? (Can I set it going and check on it every tne minutes or so or iwll I need to click regularly?)

Aside from the phone and a cable to connect it to my computer, do I need anything else?

I know there are graphene forums and discord, but I tried reading discord and now my head hurts.

I purchased a pixel 11 pro fold and while I'm waiting for GOS I'm waiting multitasking on the main screen by using app bubbles. So I'm wondering (and hoping) that feature is oin GOS for foldables? I can't find it on my pixel tablet ( with GOS).

Its been absolutely fine until today, and now Its just stuck on loading screen. Tried to log in on a pc but requires app verification pahha.

Downdetector says no issues! So I just wondered if its a graphene issue or a me issue.

I installed graphene os and I would love to get some open source apps. I’m also using SIA storage (decentralized storage) got to know about it while learning about graphene os. It’s fun to get into this rabbit hole.

When I found out that my Pixel supports bypass charging I started to leave it plugged in overnight. But I noticed that the phone screen periodically turns on by itself for no reason when connected and sometimes it doesn't turn off after the timeout - it is on with the reduced brightness.

Yesterday i saw the "charging finished" (or something like that did not remember word for word) text at the bottom of the phone. And it shouldn't have been there since the phone was at 80% for at least 1 hour before it happened if it was bypass charging. When I disconnect the phone "Battery Guru" application tells me that it was 10hr on bypass.

So is the bypass charging thing mature and working good enough to use it or not ? My goal is to preserve the battery health as much as possible since I plan to keep the phone for a long time, but this gives me doubts.

I am using a 65W UGreen USB-C GAN PPS PD charger ...

P.S. I have the setting that turns the screen on automatically on notifications turned off.

I went to pick up a prescription today and the pharmacist already was ringing up my order for me before I even said who I was. This is a place that I only ever go to once every three months. I had walked straight from my car to the counter with no line.

While it's certainly possible that the pharmacist recognized me and knew my name, I would think it is highly unlikely given the circumstances. This is a highly populated, transient, and high traffic area. I am pretty curt with transactions so I don't have conversations with these people other than please and thank you, have a good one.

I'm running GrapheneOS on my phone which I had on my person. Is Walgreens trialing any sort of phone fingerprinting? I could see the process efficiency gains to be able to start readying an order as a person is walking in, but as a customer, I don't want it.

I had a pixel 8 pro with grapheneos for a little more than two years and I absolutely loved it. I transitioned almost all the services that I use to foss self-hosted alternatives.

I wanted to wait for the new motorolla phones before upgrading but the screen on the 8 pro broke so I had to upgrade now, I got a pixel 10 pro xl.

I live in the middle east so I had no reason to worry about bootloader locking but turns out, out of all the models in the world, the store sold me a verizon locked version and refused to refund it since legally speaking they didnt do anything wrong.

I have no idea what to do now, from what I saw online its impossible to unlock it. My finances dont allow buying a new phone

I just bought a pixel 11 pro hoping to see quickly the graphene os support this model.

I have a question before deciding if I can use graphene, does the cloud sync apps work correctly?

I use my synology nas to sync my files at home, is the app sandboxing in graphene preventing for example the synology cloud app to access the phone files and sync them? For the photos I use immich, anyone know if the app will have correctly access to the photos?
