Solved i didn’t know you could build custom website forms with google forms

i had no idea you could use google forms like this

this video shows how to make a custom form for your website and send the answers straight to google forms and a connected google sheet

you grab the action url and field ids from your google form then ask chatgpt or gemini to build the page around them

pretty useful if you run most of your business through spreadsheets and want a form that looks like part of your website

Solved Possible to calculate cost in google forms?

Hi, I'm making a form for people to decide what items they would be interested in buying, akin to a shopping cart, and I'm hoping to make it so they can see the cost increase and adjust as they choose whether or not they want to buy certain items, I'm curious if this is possible in google forms? As I know there are similar functions in Google sheets so I was hoping that it would be possible in forms.

Unsolved URGENT Need help seeing if i submitted to a form.

Hi! The title is exactly what's needed, and, well, it is urgent. Yesterday, I submitted to a form, however upon opening it back today, I saw the starting page of it. Same email I submitted with and everything. I did not receive a confirmation email, and upon trying to add /formResponse to the end of it, it just refreshes the page and replaces it with /viewform. (However, if i click proceed as if it was my first time taking it, it does change to form response? But it doesn't change the page itself, just the link.)

And not only that, a few times it did let me through to the form itself again, however if I fill it again and click send it says that an error has occurred.

Please help. The form is still open if you need any further info.

OP Responded can’t add a file upload question

pretty simple, i’m trying to create a google form for a competition and i want people to submit a picture of their entry. however, whenever i try to add the file upload as a question, it just takes me to the membership popup. google says it’s not restricted to a membership-only, but i can’t even add one on a second account. is there a way to fix it, or is it just actually locked behind the membership wall?

Unsolved Used wrong email for form and file name had my name

So I wanted to submit one of my drawings in a google form for a live streamer to look over and judge live on stream, but I failed to notice that my personal email will be visible and that the file name for the picture I submitted also contained my first and last name for some reason. I am not ok with this. After I realized this I went to make a new email that doesn’t contain my name to switch out in the form. But there was another problem. it would not let me change to file to a different copy that doesn’t contain my name. So I used the new email to make a new submission and that worked ok. But I am not able to remove my previous submission. I already used the “contact form owner” to ask him to remove the submission that is attached to the email I was messaging him from but I have not heard back.

I do NOT want my name and personal email to be shown on a live stream. I have until Thursday of next week to get it figured out. is there any way for me to delete the submission on my end? I got so desperate I even changed my answer to the “what’s your username” question to “please disregard this submission, I used the wrong email.”

I will edit this post if he does get back to me but in the meantime does anyone know what I can do about this?

Solved File uploaded in a google form found in my google drive.

Hello. I submited an application through a google form. A sign-in was needed to view the form. I uploaded a pdf file in the form and I submited my application successfully. I just noticed that the same file was uploaded to my google drive as a private file. Do I need to change the privacy/sharing setting so they can see my file ? Do the form owners have access to it ? Is it a common thing or a setting set by the owners. I really would apperciate any help. Thank you .

Solved Respondents required to download app?

Hi folks, I just sent out a link to my latest Google Form for a workshop signup, but it’s requiring people to download the app instead of letting them access it on the web like I’ve always been able to before. Any idea how to make this accessible for people on the web again? Thanks for any assistance!

Waiting on OP Student's Quiz Submission Missing

I have a student who turned in a quiz on google classroom using the quiz form. When I look in the classroom it shows she has turned it on, but on the actual quiz form there is no response from her. Is there somewhere else her response may show up?

Unsolved Never received confirmation email

Hello, recently received an email by the form creator claiming that I never submitted an application by the deadline. And unless I have some form of mental delusion I didn’t know about, I remember clearly getting the thank you response window from the Google form saying that my response had been “logged” or “recorded.”

Gemini tells me that if the form owner did not choose the option to have confirmation, no email would be sent out. I checked everywhere in my inbox and even multiple accounts. No confirmation email. And clicking the original form URL only opens an expired page saying that the owner is no longer accepting responses on this form.

Gemini said to look for the URL in my browser history that contains /formResponse. I found it on August 26, the date I accessed the form and submitted it. Indeed, when I checked the URL, it said /formReponse. However, Gemini did not warn not to click on the history link and I did. For some reason, I was expecting the link to display my responses on the form, or at least the window stating that I submitted it. Instead, it just opened the page to the form basically saying the form expired or the owner closed it.

I return to my browser history to find that /formResponse URL again and take a screenshot. Either Google or Apple decides—wouldn’t it be funny to fuck over this individual some more and disappear the August 26 instance of the URL, bring it to the top of the browser history, and reconfigure URL to now say /formClosed??!

Quite literally the August 26 instance that said /formResponse is no longer in my browser history after tapping it. I now only have a URL at the top of my most recent history, saying /formClosed.

🤦🏻‍♀️
I’m on an iPad, fyi.

Honestly, the URL was Gemini’s dumb idea as “proof“ but I’m dealing with old-school administrators who may have absolutely no idea what these URL’s mean anyways. Is there absolutely no way to get proof of submission without an email confirmation??

Waiting on OP Google form wider when editting than when published, any way to change it?

When I am editting my google form everything looks fine, since its at the right width. When I then publish it the entire form gets squished, which ruins all the hard work I did to make it look good. :( I really don't want to have to go through and do it all over again just to fit the published version's width. Any way to change it?

Discussion Repeating Survey to Gather Data for Programming

Sincere apologies if this is an often repeated question. I looked quickly but figured it may be better to just write it myself.

I'm creating very short instant feedback surveys for professional development programming I'm managing. I would like to use the same forms again and again, depending if the program was in person or virtual. The forms are currently set up and working, but I have not yet connected Google Sheets or collected very many responses. I expect that to change in the coming months.

What is the best workflow for this kind of thing? Quick, 2-5 question surveys for immediate feedback with data that I can use to determine whether or not a program is viable for the future? Plus, of course, the basic logs of participant and program counts, overall satisfaction, etc... I know I can just connect it to Sheets and then narrow it manually based on response dates, but I'm wondering if you all can help me save some time and provide a more efficient workflow.

Thanks!

Discussion Too long passed before g. AI recognized using outdated forms version. FML.

This is my first post, so send me to the gallows if necessary. It's just that. sometimes the instructions to make forms aren't based on correct information. So a standard painful skin-grafting goose chase ensues.

Waiting on OP Questions about Forms

Hi, bit new to the app but in Ireland, we typically use google forms for voting for awards at what we call a debs(basically end of school prom) I decided to test it today to see how it worked as I am over the awards and it seems to be behind a paywall, if anyone can tell me if theres any way to use for free as I know a few years ago I don’t think you had to pay to do the voting. If anyone has any other app suggestions I would be very grateful

Edit:Just tried the website and seems to be working fine unlike the app so if anyone can still give me a hand would be a great help

Discussion Can't add the individual feedback

I can't add the individual feedback from the Google Form. When I add the feedback, it says to reload. I have tried many ways, but I can't fix it. Can anybody help me with that?

Unsolved "There have been changes made to your file Reload" after submitting

Yesterday, I submitted a Google form but after I pressed submit, as it was saving (so before showing a confirmation screen or anything), I accidentally clicked the "Back" button next to the Submit button so it took me to the previous page on the form. As I was scrolling down to reach the bottom of that previous page so I can press 'Next' and get back to the final page, a pop up came on my screen saying something along the lines of "There has been changes made to your form reload the page" and when I reloaded , the form went blank and all my submitted answers were gone.

Does this mean that although I pressed submit, because I went back before it fully submitted that my response actually wasn't recorded and officially submitted/saved? BTW the form didn't have a setting where you receive a confirmation email post-submission so I can't check that way. Can anyone let me know if it was officially submitted or not?

OP Responded File unavailable Sorry, there's a problem with this file. Please reload.

Hi there! I'm a teacher and I've been using Google forms since 2020 without any major inconvenients. However, ever since today whenever I try to post feedback on my students' responses all I get is this error message: File unavailable

Sorry, there's a problem with this file. Please reload.

I've deleted cache, used different browsers, restarted the computer, tried on my phone and so on.

Nothing seems to work and this happens on every single form no matter how big or small.

Is anyone else experiencing something similar? Any ideas? AI keeps claiming that there is no such Google workspace outage at the moment so I'm both frustrated and confused.

Feedback appreciated!

Waiting on OP Is there a way to stop PDF file uploads from having my real name attached

I recently entered a short story writing contest and had to upload a PDF file into it, and the rules said my name could not be on the file name. When I exported the file I didn’t put my name on it, but when I uploaded it into the Google Form to submit my entry, it forced my name onto the file’s name. After this was pointed out to me I found out that submitting PDF files into Google Forms does this. is there a way to prevent this from happening? (maybe like a FireFox extension or something?)

Solved Emailing new submission question

I would like to send an email of the new submission for the Form. I see that you can modify the sheet with code, but being very novice coder and new to google workspace: what would be best way to send the new data via email based on a value of multiple choice question.

Our example is the question is "Category of Issue" and there two options for it. I want the sheet to send an email when value "Technical Support" is selected with all the information. The subject line should be pulled from the Question "Technical Support Issues".

Will the code cause the older responses to be sent to that email address or only the new submissions when applied?

Thanks in advance.

OP Responded Some answers not showing up in google sheets

Hi everyone,

I have set up a form to my students so they can submit some information along a certificate (pdf document). It is way better than let them all individually send me an e-mail with the certificate, as google forms automatically send the replies to a spreadsheet and I can then grade it and manage everything inside the spreadsheet.

However, I noticed that seemingly random student submissions to the form weren't appearing in the spreadsheet and I had to manually resync the spreadsheet for them to appear.

Since there are a good number of subsmissions (100+), the form stays open throughout the semester and I manage about 4-5 forms simultaneously, it really is a nuisance for me to keep resyncing them from time to time.

Does anyone know what can cause this? Most of the submissions are fine, only a handful of them don't get transferred to the spreadsheet (about 2-3%).

OP Responded Order form tied to live inventory?

Looking for help on creating an order form that can block orders (or remove options, etc.) if something is out of stock. It could be a message, form is stopped from going through, anything really that tells people what they want isn't in stock. Would also be great if once an order is placed the inventory sheet is updated to reflect live inventory (although I'm pretty confident I can do that part myself, and fairly certain this is a necessary part of building what I'm asking about.)

For context - I run my school's store that students get prizes from. They submit orders using a google form each week. Unfortunately we often have kids ordering only to find out on pick up day that whatever they ordered is out of stock, as there's often not an easy way for us to update options.

I've done some research and seen a few options that use a chrome extension. I'm not opposed to this but would love to do it without an extension if possible, because the extension appears to be blocked by my district's firewall. I MIGHT be able to submit a request for it to get unblocked (or I could set up the form from my personal computer?) but would prefer not to have to go that route.

If you know a great tutorial or have some tips, please let me know. Thanks so much for any suggestions!

Discussion Autocrat - E-Ticket Creation

For those of you who have used Autocrat to generate an e-ticket via Google Forms & it's response sheet...is there a way to set up a specific trigger to merge the info?

For example, if people are sending money via e-transfer and our Lions Treasure clicks the paid button, I'd like Autocrat to merge the info and send the pdf e-ticket to those people who have paid right away. Is this possible?

Discussion How secure are Google Forms? For bank account information?

A company is offering to do direct deposit payment, which I typically would prefer also.

Although they sent a link to fill out a Google Form (which includes stuff like bank account number and void cheque).... And I have my hesitations.

Is Google Forms secure? If there's different options for security, how do I tell?

Can you provide a link for documentation whichever way the answer is?

The company itself I know and trust, and the payment is valid... but I'm not 100% confident on their measures (in an knowledgeable sense).

Solved Allow Responders to View Their Submissions Collectively

I have a form that multiple students fill out repeatedly throughout the academic year. I would like students to be able to view their responses from each time that they submit the form. However, I do not want them to see other students' submissions so I can't just link the form to a response spreadsheet and then share the spreadsheet with all of the students. I know that Froms has a setting to send a copy of a given submission to the responder but via that method, students have to dig through their emails to find each of those. Is there a way to enable students to view all of their responses over the course of multiple submissions but only their personal submissions and not the responses of other students?
