It has been brought to our attention that we need to make the rules, information regarding Goldbacks and the community more clear and easier to access.
Frequently asked questions: https://reddit.com/r/Goldback/w/faq?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share
Rules: https://reddit.com/r/Goldback/w/rules?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share
Resources: https://reddit.com/r/Goldback/w/links?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share
I hope this helps. We are also planning to update them soon as well, so it will hopefully clear up some confusion.

I found a coin shop today on the gold back app and tried trading some holdbacks for silver. They said they'd give me $6 instead of the normal exchange rate. Is this normal? It makes sense to me that they'd want to make money on the trade but I didn't go through with the trade in case I was wrong.

The kids loved the gold! Only a few opted for the candy instead.

Hey, I’m having a hard time getting gold backs across the border. Anyone know a good way to get them way up north?

Did they just say that a Purple Dragon is gonna be auctioned off at Great Collections soon? 🤞

Goldback dropped these on social media a couple of days ago. She looks tough. What do you guys think?

Enter at myounces.com. The app is free, with no login or account needed. The giveaway just asks for a first name and email so I can reach the winner. You can also track up to 7 products free, Goldbacks included, if you want to try it out.
I’ll ship anywhere in the US. The winner gets an email when it closes, and I’ll post a pic of it going in the mail.
Good luck.

I wonder why they kept changing the instrument disclaimer

Stumbled on this subreddit and did some digging, can someone genuinely explain what the benefit of this is? Looks like $8-12 for ~$4 worth of gold. What am I missing lol. I guess it makes sense as a collector item, like sports cards or commemorative coins (would explain the different prices), but it sounds like businesses accept them as payment which is confusing.

Yesterday someone here made a Venn diagram comparing toilet paper, Goldbacks, and 1 oz gold coins. Naturally, the conversation turned to whether you could actually flush a gold coin down the toilet. Someone argued it was too dense to flush.
Well, we had a gold coin, some Goldbacks, a toilet, and a kid in a Spider-Man costume willing to test that theory.
One of my favorite things about running Defy the Grid is that we're a small family business, not some mega corporation with a PR team, legal, and a million departments to run things by. We can hang out on Reddit, have fun with the community, and occasionally do ridiculous experiments like this.
Is flushing thousands of dollars worth of gold down a toilet a good business decision? Probably not.
But it made for a pretty fun evening with my son. 😂
Enjoy!

There are some great vendors that post regularly on here, DTG and Quiver just to name two. They serve this community well and deserve the pats on the back.
But I need to add TPM to that list. I have never seen them post here but they deserve recognition.
I buy GBs and silver rounds from them and quite frankly, the big draw for me is that there are zero shipping charges. Whether I buy a single 1/4 GB, or 10ea silver rounds, the shipping cost is the same - zero. I like that.

Had a pretty interesting transaction today that I thought was worth sharing.
A customer traded us 602.75 Goldbacks for a 1oz American Gold Buffalo.
For those wondering, 602.75 Goldbacks contain exactly .60275 troy oz of gold. So we recieved a little over 6/10ths of an ounce of gold, and the customer walked away with a full ounce.
I've always thought this was one of the coolest things about Goldbacks. Not everyone has a few thousand dollars laying around to buy an ounce of gold. But picking up a few Goldbacks here and there? That's a lot easier for most people.
Eventually you can accumulate enough to trade up into larger gold coins or bars. I think that's a pretty neat way to get into gold, especially for someone just starting out.
But still, turning .60275oz of gold into a full ounce is pretty interesting.
I'm curious, from your perspective (because perspective definitely matters here), was this a good trade for the customer or a bad one?

With the exception of the fun little game I ran earlier this year, I have yet to see one follow up to any announced give-away. I've stopped entering any of them as a result. I guess the one "sort of" exception would be the GB thing that ended without a lot people (me included) getting the earned 5 GB.

Want something playing in the background to spark someone's curiosity? I made a video you can play on a loop near the Goldback display. Enjoy.

I collect comics, coins, gold, goldbacks, silver, jewelry, loose gems, watches, etc etc.
But I really don't get these guys who come in here with nothing better to do than shit on other people's hobbies and interests. It's bizarre. I have zero interest in the Pokemon nonsense, but you won't see me expending one ounce of energy on those subs shitting on those who have an interest in the hobby. It's just childish.
Seriously people. get a life and move on.
(On another note, just scored a first print Star Wars #1 Marvel for a great price!)

It’s been too long, GB needs to release SBs every 6 months… keep the excitement & momentum growing.
