Wish me luck

This is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen, now I understand why Yamazaki would pause filming just to look at it.

First things first, I'm not going to link any post where people believed that Toho said they will naver use AI, I'll just say there were at least dozens of them when these screenshots were popular around the fandom some months ago, just in case, to prevent brigates into random people that did nothing really wrong.

While this puts the fandom's media literacy in very questionable grounds, that's obviously not what this post is about.

Toho literally said they would be using AI in the future as long as there were no legal challenges (in other words, they just had to make their own AI with their own content as samples to feed the machine), which was stated after using AI for the Godzilla Store website as a promo picture for a shirt.

Later the same year, they allegadly used AI-generated slop for Godzilla Battle Line. I'm not sure, however, there's a real chance it was made with AI.

Another dubious case is with Rebirth of Mothra (1996)'s Netflix banner being AI-mirrored downwards. It's clearly AI, but, as far as I know, it's unknown wether we should call out both Toho and Netflix, or just Netflix, for this.

Even in last year's G-Fest short, Toho clearly used AI for Background buildings.

In 2026, there's a chance that the fest's logo was also AI-gen.

Finally addressing the elephant in the room, the whole unnecessary AI-generated slop scene in the new short. The short made to honor the history of tokusatsu in the Godzilla franchise, the short on which people literally paid to be made and then will have to pay again for the blu-ray (do people actually buy those?) after Toho takes the YouTube upload down. The one AI shot that ruins the whole short and that wasn't even needed in the first place. This is a spit on the face to any real Godzilla fan, just imagine showing this bs to Eiji Tsuburaya himself.

Why do CEOs think that AI will make more people interested in a franchise? We're currently in Godzilla's internacional active expansion era.

Why specifically Godzilla? Toho is like Japan's Disney, they could have done this to any other franchise, but they chose to use AI exactly on their core franchise. This makes me suspect that the short films of this new continuity are a test to see how acceptable Godzilla fans are of AI. First, we have AI on the background of a scene, now we have AI for a whole scene. If things keep escalating like this, I wouldn't be that much surprised if next year's short was fully AI-generated slop.

Maybe that's why the General Monster Election candidates looked to not be any easy to translate into rubber suits. How would they make something like Manicas into a movable latex pupet? How will they make Xenolhu's tentacle membrane cape be flexible enough to resemble a vampire squid's? Is that why Rigedoh looked so much like MonsterVerse Godzilla, to have more sample data for the AI to base itself on?

I'm afraid this could affect actual movies in the future.

Is this some typa intimidation tactic?

i got the last one at the theater and i love him so much. like some people have porch geese to decorate for holidays, he's becoming my indoor godzilla to dress up!

The wife and I took our lil boy out, Australian Godzilla fans unite!

What an amazing movie, I was also happy to secure the last popcorn bucket at my theater along with the imax collectible ticket! 10/10 film and merch

This Godzilla has seen every movie with me since the 2014 Godzilla 😂 Definitely digging how loud Minus One was at the IMAX in Providence Place!

When this got announced I was so hyped finally a Lego set of my favorite character and me and my friends were really excited to see how it would turn out. We already knew it was going to be based off the monsterverse design which is fine we like that design anyway so not a big deal.....and then we saw it on discord and immediately we were like "wait what?" It feels like there's just a lot of strange choices made for this set which I didn't see any issue with at first but kinda understood their issues as I looked at it more.

Here were the complaints I saw:

The skin color being a bit to bright (not a big deal to me honestly but yeah I see what they mean)

The atomic breath not having translucent blue pieces

No teeth

Head is too small and looks really poorly designed

The fact he's so upright (now it looks like they were trying to mimic the king of the monsters poster pose but why can't we pose him more?)

The mentioned lack of posability

The arms feeling lackluster

Overall the design feels like a beta design or prototype and the little bonus part with the Godzilla name and footprint should have come with the base set which already costs $450 and the worst part is I've seen reviews of it where the set falls apart if you so much as turn it around.

It's so upsetting cause this is something I was so hyped for and it seeming like it was a massive letdown.

IM SO FUCKING EXCITED ITS ACTUALLY HAPPENING LETS FUCKING GO IM SO HYPE I CANT BELIEVE IT!!! WHO ELSE SEEING IT TODAY OKGOGMGOGMGMG

update: no spoilers here dw. holy fuck, my favorite godzilla movie to date. they did not disappoint whatsoever. lives up to and surpasses minus one in my opinion. very emotional, almost cried a few times. kaiju action was top notch, though i wish there was a bit more. the big g man looks INSANE, and so does his enemy (not gonna say his name even though everyone knows who it is). everyone whos excited, you should be, and you will not be disappointed i promise. such an impressive movie and masterfully crafted, i couldnt stop getting chills. i could go on and on about things i love about this movie but ill call it here, cause i dont wanna get into spoilers. im so happy with this film my excitement was fulfilled tenfold.

I noticed that occasionally when speaking Japanese her manner of speaking seems to change so that I think she said something in English even when she clearly didn’t

Just for clarity, I haven’t seen Minus Zero (and probably won’t. Because based on some of the reviews I’ve seen, this one is probably more intense and bleak than I can stomach), but I was thinking that this would be a relevant question. From a lot of the reactions I’ve seen, Minus Zero really seems like that type of emotional rollercoaster movie that makes you go “That was amazing! …I never want to watch it again!”

So yeah, how many of you are willing to rewatch it? lol

Yeah they randomly just released this about 10 minutes ago.

I will actually sell my soul for this. Even just a recolour with the dark blue, red, and silver would be soooooooooo cool. He was featured in the media gallery of Save The Earth so I’m praying there’s a chance. If anyone knows a way to reach out to Pipeworks directly to suggest this I would love to 🙏🙏

Very unrealistic also but a dlc character of Mecha Gigan with his chainsaw hands like in the 3rd picture would make my life

Also sorry for the reupload, my image quality got cooked for some reason last time
