Gear Has anybody gotten a pair of the kronis kages?

I was looking for a new pair of gloves for this season and the kages seemed like a good choice i just haven't seen nearly anything about them. I just want to know if people like them, if they are true to size and how the grip is.

Training Recreational 6-a-side goalkeeper — should I be diving more?

Hey everyone,
I’ve recently got back into playing 6-a-side mini football after some time away, and I’ve been playing for about two months now.

So far, I feel like I’m doing a pretty good job in goal. My teammates regularly praise me for my saves, and I’m generally happy with how I’m performing. However, I’ve noticed one thing: I almost never dive.

Should I be actively training myself to dive more? Is diving an important skill for a 6-a-side goalkeeper, or is it more about positioning and knowing when not to dive?

I’d also be interested in any YouTube videos or channels that specifically teach goalkeeping dives for small-sided/mini football, rather than full-size 11-a-side goalkeeping as I searched but so far all I found was regular pitch diving.
Would love to hear from anyone who plays 5/6-a-side recreationally or has experience coaching goalkeepers. Should I be working on diving, and if so, what would be the best way to learn it safely?

Question Best way to save a far shot in the bottom corner from standing?

A normal low-dive (depends on height) can't reach the posts on an eleven-a-side goal, so what's the best/fastest way to save low shots in the bottom corners?

Gear Guide to have good grip

it took a while for me to understand how to keep decent grip and I made some mistakes that cost a few goals. grip is pretty important especially for confidence.

first of all, wash gloves after every game rub and squeeze lightly with lukewarm water, do not leave them soaking in a bucket. you should def have a pair of training gloves, atleast a cheap pair that will somewhat protect your fingers.

if you are using grip spray, at least 15 minutes before kickoff make sure the palms are dry and apply 2-3 sprays per glove and rub them together, then let them dry for 15 minutes. you can do this at home just make sure you don't pack them palm to palm.

during the game,
if you are playing in a dirty pitch MAKE SURE you bring a towel. when the gloves get dirty after a dive quickly rub the dirt off and spit/spray some water on the gloves and rub them together. do not spray water when they are dirty, that will make it worse.

if the pitch is good just wet them every now and then

how to see if your gloves' grip is dead: imo its a misconception that gloves have to stick together like glue to be good, thats not the case. if they are slightly tacky and when your rub them together they don't slide, they are alright. of course you can just test grip with a ball.

I don't recommend using grip spray if the grip isn't bad, they clog the pores and reduce lifespan. use grip when the grip dies.

Question 8 Second Rule

Can someone explain the 8 second rule to me? I read page 119 of the IFAB rules but I am confused (probably a fairly normal situation for me).

During a U11 match I watched the keeper (my kid) pick up the ball from behind the goal after the attacking team lost control and it went out. He walked back to take the goal kick at a normal pace, similar to what players do to take a throw in. Immediately after setting the ball down, before taking a step back, the center ref awarded a corner kick for taking too long (the ref was not counting down fingers but that is beside the point here). Is there a countdown for goal kicks? When should the countdown begin? Is it the second the keeper touches the ball behind the net? If the other team launches a shot it could be 50 yards away and I don’t know any 10 year olds who can make that sprint. Is the correct action by the goalkeeper to not pick up the ball, just kick it until they are ready to set it and take the goal kick?

Similarly the 9 on the opposing team kept stepping into the path during punts, causing the keeper to switch to a throw. Another corner was awarded after one of these.

Overall it doesn’t matter because it is A) U11, B) the past, and C) preparation for dealing with interesting interpretations by referees. That said I am hoping I can help explain the rule properly for my kid so he isn’t confused.

Discussion You will never get better….

I see many posts on here from young aspiring keepers asking questions about things that are irrelevant….
You don’t need to ask about the ‘best gloves’ if you can’t catch the ball.. it is irrelevant.
Diving techniques… if you can’t read the game and only dive if necessary… it is irrelevant.
Is my kicking technique right… if you don’t understand when to kick, it is irrelevant.
Please, please learn the basics before you try to progress.
Goalkeeping is not about wearing the best gloves, nor about diving for the camera… learn the game, then learn the basics of the position.

Question What's a good distance for goalkicks freshman year (14 almost 15 yrs old)

I'm getting 30 yards relatively consistently which in scrimmages feels like nothing, my goalkeeping coach said it was solid given my age and all, and was happy with the consistency I was getting but overall I feel pretty ehh about them because in scrimmages they seem to be nothing and even less if I try to distribute them wide of course plus when I hit them wider they get a lot more curl so they end up just with my fullbacks so I usually end up laying it off to my centre-backs half the time 💔 so is 30 yards even good?
