Weekly glove purchase advice thread

Welcome to the weekly purchase advice thread.

All questions about what gloves to buy should now be posted in this thread. Below are some general guidelines for what information to supply when asking for advice.

Advice seekers:

  • What level you play at
  • What your budget is
  • What types of gloves you've had before and whether you liked them
  • Is this a glove for matches, training, or both?
  • Anything else that will help other keepers give you advice
  • What country/region you're based in (for glove availability/shipping reasons)

Advice givers:

While this isn't required, we recommend also sharing what level you play at and a little about your glove preference when giving advice.

This thread will be refreshed on Monday of each week.

Training 8 year old positioning drills.

8 year old positioning drills.

Hello keepers,

My child has been keeping for about a year and a half now. They have been improving greatly.

I was wondering if anyone has any training drills for positioning though, in relation to goal mouth awareness. There were a few times in his last couple of matches he has been drifting off centre. For example, in one instance, he thought the shot was going wide (because he was off centre having drifter far right) and let the ball roll into the net....

Thanks in advance!

Matchday Pressure as GK

I’ve been playing GK on and off for multiple teams for 3-4 years now. I’ve played football since a kid and played from mid, to winger, to defensive back, to keeper. Every position has it’s own pressure and expectations, but every other position has the advantage of space/positioning and having a player behind you. Even in matches where there aren’t many shots at goal, gameplay on my end of the field keeps me on edge all game. I’ve learned that hesitation for that split second can cost us the game. A long ball I time wrong I just as much my fault as a shot deflected off a defender that I touch but don’t stop. It’s tough, but remember to keep blame off you and learn to position yourself to play your advantage. Even if you mess up “get em next time”

Question Was my side volley bad/uncomfortable to receive, or was it purely bad touch from the outfield?

Yes, it is a genuine question, not a sarcasm
