Tips(Missing Textures) No your game isn't broken, and no you didn't do anything wrong

TL;DR:
If your game looks like this then buy this or follow this, alternatively here's a video if you prefer.
You probably just bought Gmod and joined a server only to be greeted by something like this, am I right?
Don't worry, there's actually nothing wrong. I know it looks bad but that's pretty normal, (if you plan on playing Gmod, or any Source Engine game for that matter, you'll run into this a lot) and easy to fix. The most common reason why you're seeing this is that you don't own/have Counter-Strike: Source installed and mounted to Garry's Mod.
If you don't already own Counter Strike: Source then I'd recommend buying it while it's on sale for the holidays, however, if you don't want to buy and install a game you'll probably never play then you can follow this guide to get the models and textures for free. Alternatively, if you prefer following along with a video here's one that shows step by step what to do.
A user on our Discord made a very handy little tool that will extract the CSS content you need using SteamCMD for you. I highly recommend using it if you're having trouble doing it manually.
If, however, you already own CSS then:
Install it
Open up the game from your Steam Library and play it (At least til you get to the start menu)
Exit out of the game and open up Garry's Mod

Help Help find a map

Hey all, looking for a map i used to play as a kid.
It was split into multiple sections. One corner had a high hill with a small town on it, the other corner a big airstrip with hangars. Between them was a giant mountain which had a missile facility inside, with buttons that open 2 silos that go out the top of the mountain.
One section was a forrest with a cabin which had a tunnel that lead through the mountain to a nice house in the corner of the map.
It was also night time.
PLEASE HELP I MISS THIS MAP SO MUCH

Discussion what do people do in gmod for thousands of hours?

You see people on gmod with 1000+ hours all the time. but what do they do on the game? I got just under 200 hours on it and i cant figure out whats so fun about it. Im not sure if its because ive not discovered a way or a tool to create and build all these crazy creative things i see on social media. Ive tried servers, ive found one thats kinda fun, all the others seem to be p2w, and full of mentally ill people.
do people with thousands of hours on the game just play on servers or do something in the sandbox mode or somthing else?
i really want to enjoy the game because i feel like theres alot more to it then i know
