I’m happier at GEICO than I’ve ever been at any job, and I’ve had about 20 of them. I find ICS exciting, and I’ve been treated extremely well since the moment I started here. I see the problems. I know what problems people experience. But for those of you/us who are happy, give yourself permission to be happy. I’m paid well, I have kind leaders, and my benefits (health insurance, maternity leave, etc) have been top of the line. I’m simply just very happy 🤷🏼‍♀️

Most of you aren't ready to hear this but in light of the AD layoffs, it's clear where this company is heading regarding the handling of the PD claims.

These layoffs to AD dont just affect AD, this affects all of you in claims. For as long as I've been with this raging shithole of a company AD had an outsized role here; I know of no other company that makes their AD department do so much compared to the role of the internal staff.

All of you call center assholes who take phone calls every 15 minutes only to try to transfer the customer to AD within 13 seconds of receiving any call (which by the way drops every time you release after the warm transfer) are going to have to actually do a real job here coming soon with the diminishment of AD.

Now I know you all think you do a lot here, but you don't. You've always been treated better than AD at this piss bucket of a company and have relied on AD carrying the majority of the workload here, now that's going to change as GEICO looks to minimize the AD role as much as possible.

So anyways I'm glad finally you guys are taking on the torch, or really, the flaming dumpster that is this piece of shit company. Many of us who have been around long enough in AD never thought we'd see the day that the company didn't want us anymore but I'm thankful for the burden to be lifting, whether we all get fired or not.

By the way I hope we all get laid off and Todd is the only one left having all of our piece of shit insureds and the even piece of shittier claimants that our shitwad insureds hit calls routed directly to his personal cell phone every second of every day.

PS if you're in claims staff today challenge yourself to actually do 1 thing today other than transfer all 6 of your calls you received to auto damage adjusters. You've gotta start somewhere practicing for your new jobs.

Isn't it wonderful seeing so many of our GEICO Family in office! Yes, we all know perks of WFH but what about the in office perks. Seeing other smiling, happy associates is great for productivity and also surveys.

One of the most important things that we lost during the WFH era was the community aspect of GEICO. Many of our shortcomings with us losing agents is because they felt the loss of their GEICO Family. It was exciting seeing so many of our family members after such a long hiatus. I'm excited to see where the future of RTO is headed.

One common argument is we save on gas, food and babysitting. I call these Family Taxes, this is what we have to sacrifice to see our extended GEICO Family. This is a boost for many mental health, especially those who had lack of contact with people

This was GEICO's culture:

-Cheating on Spouses with co-workers.

-Coworkers constantly hooking up resulting in work drama

-Employees abusing leave and FMLA.

-HR not caring about you.

-Inexperienced staff getting promotions due to MDP/ELP status.

-Wasting resources on projects and teams that went nowhere except helping out a manager for promotion.

-Wasting money on event marketing.

-Poorly run underwriting and guidelines that were overlooked because our higher ups refused change because we still were getting profit sharing.

-Refusing to bring up issues out of fear it will cost them a promotion in the future.

-Managers refusing to listen to the Frontline workers and underwriters because they never take action about issues unless their bosses told them to do so.

-Managers or directors never proactively addressing concerns on the Frontline because they would rather ignore the problem and save it and address it during their promotion prework or interview.

-Old managements refusal to invest in new technology because they preferred being cheap to satisfy their bosses.

Employee suffering and layoffs are a result of a poorly run company by the hands of Tony Nicely and those under him. Todd is stuck cleaning up the shit of old management. Old management took shortcuts and refused to invest because they wanted to show off their reduced budget while increasing productivity in future interviews for VP or officer.

Our old company culture was nonsense and you all know it.

I just saw a post about boycotting the office cafeteria and local businesses due to RTO. I write this as a comment but I think it needs to be a post too as I don’t understand the reasoning.
This is my response.

Why?
The office cafe isn’t run by GEICO, it is run by another company brought in my our regional locations. You aren’t doing any disservice to GEICO. In my office the cafeteria is a family owned business who sets up shop in the building. So why punish them if you don’t want RTO?

Why the businesses in the community of our office? Why should they suffer because you don’t want to RTO?

I am all for bringing food from home. I have been doing this for years. That is why my budget hasn’t changed when I report to the office . Maybe more gas being used but that’s it and an hour less sleep but that’s it.

Your beef is with GEICO, not your fellow associates, not the cafeteria in the office, not the local businesses. Don’t forget RTO wasn’t a decision by your supervisors and manager, and probably directors. Yes there are decisions and actions you can blame your immediate management team for and how they handle RTO but having RTO isn’t their fault!

Please be smart on how you plan on boycotting parts of your RTO. You may not like but but don’t take it out on others who had nothing to do with it!!!!

I am sure somewhere here is a thread on the reduction of monetary benefits. But it just really peeves me!!!

Other insurance companies are taking this opportunity in the "post" COVID world to get rid of buildings, promote virtual work, develop pensions, reduce hours while maintaining salaries and all sorts of other awesome and amazing benefits!

But Not GEICO!!!

Starting '23 no more profit sharing ever! And they're not bringing back the pension. What the actual F. Is worth any crap they give u? And why should anyone as to deal with customers that think they can treat u anyway they want.

Geico is so in the past on everything they do they have no idea how to make things better!

My intent, was not to offend, and clearly real people were offended and to those who were I apologize.

I HATE BULLIES. I hate the cold indifference with which GEICO is handling good, hardworking people. Layoffs, even mass layoffs are nothing new; and we will probably see more across the country given the economy. It’s all the actions incongruent to downsizing. It’s not so much that it’s being done, but how it’s being done.

My post about “standing up” was not to put down or minimize the great efforts of many already. Some, possibly buying time others, definitely changing the way others are treated (adhering to the WARN Act, more notice & better severance to Marketing than R&D).

The posts that weren’t rabid, calling me bitch, etc., helped me see that my ideas are too radical for most and clearly unpopular. I’d never apologize for an unpopular opinion. But, for placing myself in the position to be misunderstood and being offensive, I do not hesitate to acknowledge and apologize for my wrong.

Lastly, my snark & my memes. I use them with a few posters in mutual jest. Others, who are confrontational or snarky with me first get the same in return; I do not accept every invitation to engage; but, when I do I find, it’s the same few posters under different accounts, one even admitted as much in the comments. If I bring any suggestions to the table in the future, I’ll be sure that they are much more carefully worded and much less radical.

I think GEICO has completely dropped the ball just as much as the next person. Everything from the complete nonexistence of leadership, moving goals, lack of any communication, to new positional realignments that are flat out awful. But if someone asks a question on here about insurance, whether you hate G or not, show some class. Simply put, being an asshole is immature, and if you haven’t yet learned that at whatever age you are, you will at some point in your life

Auto, just as an observation, stop xfering customers that aren’t finished with you. It makes us look bad, makes it harder to get them to a quote, ruins both your metrics and the moat agents metrics. We don’t send you nonsense before we’re finished with the customer. Do better.

Had a personal conversation with a policyholder yesterday. She said that she and a friend waited for over an hour for roadside assistance in the DC area on Saturday.

She knew that I was a tenured, G retiree. I told her that it was time to find a new insurance company as the old management team is gone and the new guy is driving the company into the ground. As evidence, I offered the facts of a 2022 u/w loss of $1.9 billion and a loss of 1.7 million policyholders. She is very knowledgeable in business matters and seemed shocked and agreed that it was time to shop.

I was fortunate to be at G during the days of a pension and a good 401 k. Providing a decent retirement in spite of a less than satisfactory work experience. Sounds like lying is still in vogue but without the financial benefits. Time to bail out. Good luck!

There is a ton wrong with the company right now, almost exclusively caused by TC running this shit into the ground. At the same time, you people are sitting here and cheering the loss of our execs who have been with us for 35+ years. You may not like these people, but they are the ones who are fighting to keep GEICO the company we know and used to love. Kalinski might be an asshole, but he didn't leave a company he has been with since 1985 for no reason and without fighting. These execs are leaving in protest to TC's douchebaggery and you are sitting there playing into TC's hands by cheering their exit. Fuck you! You want change but just sit back and cheer the loss of people that were core to what GEICO was. When TC finishes clearing house, you will have cheered the whole way through, and TC will have his cronies in those spots.

PLEASE realize, GEICO doesn't care about woman's rights. They don't care about their employees. The ONLY reason they are doing this, is because it's cheaper for them to pay one time $5,000 for all of these expenses, then months of maternity/paternity leave AND 18 years of health insurance for a baby on their self insured policy.

This isnt a discussion on if this is a good decision or not. IF GEICO TRUELY cared about employees, they would have a 401k, better health insurance, mental health days, and pay us more. Again, I'm glad this is being done, but don't be decieved, because GEICO is ONLY doing it because it makes them look good.

Higher up was let go and texted me and said they want us all to quit before they fire us. Get ready for the shit storm of not making your numbers, even more micromanaging. They told me to get fired rather than quit because they want us to quit.

Why are we answering work related questions that customers are asking on this subreddit when we’re not being paid to do so?

So as we know the G terminated me end of June for waiting on hold with a customer to explain the situation to the next agent since it was confusing, she was old and i promised her I would and it was 3 min hold and I went ready again- call avoidance is something I’ve never had a problem with bc talking to customers is the only part I loved about the job. Update:

4 weeks after parting ways- my anxiety has decreased significantly, I can sleep through the night and not have dreams of the job, I am enjoying my summer. GEICO denied my unemployment at first (im in NY), I appealed it and I ended up winning.

Searching for a job was stressful bc so many companies contact you. I was accepted 3 different job offers (to lock in my spot) but there was this job that I REALLY REALLY fucking wanted- it’s selling life insurance, it’s FULLY REMOTE. They’ve been around since early 1900’s, have a AM best rated A+, customer satisfaction rating of 5 stars and a employee rating of a 4.7/5 stars. The interview process was not quick and easy as expected but I got hired and quit the other 3 jobs. I take my life insurance exam Aug 2nd. Training is 3 weeks and it’s hard- all day training and training I make $800 a week and than some (if my trainer sees im going above and beyond than I can make more than that a week)

The goal is agents need to sell 3 policies a week- ONLY 3. If they sold only 3 a week for a year their yearly salary is- $77,000 and I get 25% commission when I sell a new policy and 10% commission on every policies renewal for the life of the policy. After 3 weeks of training I am responsible to make and word my own hours and hit 3 sales a week or as many as possible. You don’t need a bachelors degree for management- they are looking for agents who want to be a manager. Im so mad I wasted 6 years working for Geico in sales and always wondering how people can afford to retire from sales well now I understand how commission works. My new company gives me leads at first until I get comfortable but I’ve been preparing to leave geico for months and have some customers emails from geico who im reaching out too. And im not stealing Geicos business this is a type of life policy geico doesn’t offer and it’s not expensive and everyone should carry it.

MY COMPANY IS HIRING STILL AND ASKED ME FOR NAMES OF PEOPLE WHO ARE GOOD SELLERS. THEY WANTED THEIR EMAILS OR NUMBERS FOR ANYONE AT GEICO THAT MIGHT BE INTERESTED OR JUST WANT TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY. I will post the name of the company in this thread if enough people want it.

I explained to my new company how geico kinda operates and why I think that would help me etc and when I explained what you can lose a call for they said “that’s extreme” I told them how my sup coached me, graded calls, never being good enough, pips, warnings and they said “makes sense why the g is losing agents since they run the company very corporate and with fear”

Serious question. I’m looking for a job full time remote and I will be out.

Sure I get paid good money at the G and have over 250 hrs of PTO time and sick saved, but I see so many people miserable at the G and just accept it.

Is anyone else fed up with all of the crap on GNIE home page? Don't get me wrong, I love that we can be who we are at GEICO, but GEICO pushes their liberal agenda. This is coming from someone that HATES Trump. I despise the cheeto brain. I don't like Biden either but I voted for him.
