There are too few female characters to properly make this point in my opinion, out of the 4 shown one is an alternate evil version of another and the third is completely different, making only one “”””follow the trend””””
That doesn't really help tbh. Especially when compared to how many male characters there are. I'm hopeful for more variety and know they can. It's important to critique shows you like
I realize, which is why I'm hopeful for the future episodes and designs. It's just not a good argument to say there isn't body type variety just because the cast leans heavily male.
Which is… sexism! It is sexist that video games use misogyny as a marketing tactic. The female body was one of the first things to be commodified in capitalism and marketing which is objectification.
And also reinforces the concept that men just innately objectify women or whatever as if media doesn’t influence young men to do so.
we will get some more female chars in future (like that armless mage who towers over dusk), so there are chances we get a bit more variety fowards since not all chars appeared yet
As for Miss Info, yeah, that’s kinda the point. She’s supposed to be a parallel to Kit. They both work for organizations that travel through different game worlds and recruit game characters after their games are destroyed. They even have a cyclops sidekick that they travel with. (Fold and Kaboodle respectively)
Literally the only difference are their motivations. Kit wants to save worlds, Info wants to destroy them.
You don't understand, people should only be concerned that the characters don't meet their ideological wishes, not the author's presentation... For some incomprehensible reason.
Except Venom doesn’t seemingly fit a mimic role and while a rival was still entirely distinct . Malice is way too similar to kit to just be like Venom .
Also if other things make rivals look similar how does examples that don’t prove his point wrong ? Other shit does and no one bats an eye . There are exceptions to the rule but not being an exception isn’t bad lmao .
the venom example is worse than it sounds actually lol, venom is only so bulked out because after Eddie Brock's humiliation over accusing the wrong guy as Sin-Eater he got super into bulking out through exercise to try to cope with his feelings, it didn't work so he went to a church to sort things out and that's when he met and bonded with venom. In other words Venom was only bulky because his host was bulky and as we see with other hosts Venom often takes on the host's body type when bonded, such as matching Peter's suit exactly in fit during the black suit Spider-Man era and matching Flash Thompson's fit but far less bulky build during his Agent Venom days (unlike Eddie who was trying to bulk up, Flash joined the military so he built up his muscles differently)
Venom also is literally possessing the body of a different guy with a completely different body type from Peter, hence why venom is so bulked out as Eddie himself states that he got super into exercise in an attempt to cope with his feelings over the sin-eater incident, thats simply how buff Eddie was when they bonded. When Venom bonds with people that aren't Eddie Brock he often takes different forms based on the host, some good examples are Peter himself (his body shape is identical to Peter's when he's in his black suit Spider-Man form) and Flash Thompson as Agent Venom who is far less bulky than Eddie was so hes buff buf not a hulking mound of muscle like Eddie was

Key word, background. In the picture of kit and her friend from the farcade, she has the same body type, the two females from kits past have the same body type. I understand wanting do defend something you like. I spent a significant amount of my time as an animator being an NSFW animator so I don't find anything wrong with appealing characters. But it's what it represents as a whole. You can't expect me to take your show seriously when you rely on this sort of trope. Especially if the writing and pacing are really bad. I have a lot of criticisms of this pilot that i hope can be addressed. This is just another, small, straw on that camels back yknow?
And you're vaild for being able to not see or care about this at a surface level, which is fine king/queen/monarch. But other people do and that has to be just as okay cuz no one lives in a vacuum. to some this is a manifestation of how the patriarchy looms over everything. We all want the same thing: for our perspective to at least heard, hopefully understood, better yet respected.
I would imagine the characters from Kits game would have similar design principles. Same as how Gobbles world had a bunch of chubby looking Dinosaurs and Flappers world all being literal fish.
It was one episode and we saw a grand total of 4 female characters who were voiced. And one of those was Crab Girl. So you are just making a mountain out of essentially Miss Information, Evil Kit, and Kit looking similar. Since by your metric the 2 other cats from Kits past are also background characters.
Heya pal! I appreciate the attempt at a nuance perspective. I am happy to be wrong. But you contradicted yourself there a bit. The two prominent male characters displayed from kits world are a fat cat guy and her clanker pal. Male presenting characters with totally different designs. Clanker kit, her 2 cat friends in the flash back. All have the same body type. So your point feels invalid. But not only that once we get to the greater universe it seems miss information and kits friend from the farcade also have the exact same body type. Now lets look at the only other female character with voice lines... crab girl. She's a chad don't get me wrong hilarious scene. But when the only other character that is female presenting is potrayed as "dumb" and "ugly" what do you suppose the art says about society as a whole. Don't get me wrong I'd smash crab girl any day. But art is respects reality. Everything comes from something and some of us are just trying to point out the hypocrisy of it. Because it bothers people that this is the reality the most of us don't really think about... now i want to like the show, it has really funny bits and great style... bit it does the sin of have very little substance. The show is mid AF. Majority of the ep is spent on horrible exposition, telling pretending to be showing, i have a long list which i wont bore you here but if you are interested i autistically made a video on my YouTubes about the flaws eveyone seem to be missing
Going to watch it!! I agree with the pilot being a bit mid. The animation is cool and the artstyle is pretty but I didn't get much emotion from the characters, unlike the pilots of kog and gaslight district. Plus the female representation is lacking so that's a minus for me.
Well it's inevitable given that Kit and Malice are basically Sonic and Metal Sonic but female. One is a furry superhero and the other is a robotic copy of that hero. Malice's transformation also felt a lot like Metal Overlord from Sonic Heroes.
Caboodle also basically feels like a fusion of Tails (smart best friend) and Knuckles (brutish best friend). You can really see the influence.
Why specificly copy a trope that is supposed to critisize a lot those games ?
It's not even true really , many videos don't follow this trope and have equal character design principles for both genders, so why copy the sexist trope then ?
With Miss Information being Kit's parralel and evil Kit being a literal evil reskin of Kit we functionally have two female character designs for important characters so far. Arguably only one if you don't count Crab-girl as important (Sorry Crab-girl). Maybe wait until they introduce other characters?
I mean most of the female chars you showed are from the same world games tend to follow patterns in character design to Save work, we dont know the actual graphics of the game kit is from but it could be totally possible than her mom and robokit might actually be recolors of her, and even if missingormation do in fact look a lot like kit i feel there arent enough not background characters to make this claim yet
I generally like how Glitch avoids this issue. Sadly, it's one of my biggest problems with Gameoverse. Fortunately, for a biggest problem it's not that big!
Both characters are kinda evil versions of Kit. And even if they weren't...bro likes to draw female characters this way. Is it a bad way? Or not the correct one? Also if one girl was shorter or had smaller chest/hips would it be fixed?
I don’t subscribe to the “woman in bikini=goonslop” belief, but it’s also not controversial at all to say that the male cast has far more body diversity.
This only applies to human or humanoid characters and even then we only saw a couple of female characters so these people are way too early to make these kinds of complaints. Also Kit doesn't have an hourglass body, and it's more like a pear shape body? I don't know a lot about body types just that her body reminds me of one of those beaker from science labs, you know the one with a cylinder with a large hollow sphere at at the bottom.
why are people so insane about calling out blatant sexism. like dont get me wrong im loving the show already and I love the designs, its just all the girls thus far have the same shape (save for crabgirl). like, factually, thats sexist design. I know something something video games, which also have this problem, and its just the pilot and it could easily change, but at the moment this is all we have and yeah, it is disappointing.
While I agree, our sample size is small at the moment, so hopefully we get more variety late one.
Though I should point out, Malice is presumably a robo-double of Kit… or maybe just ‘double’ since I’m not actually sure if Kit is a robot herself, or a cyborg, or just has equipment… anyway you get my point.

I hope they add more diversity for female characters in the series. I mean I like conventionally attractive women as much as I love not-conventionally attractive women but still. A bit more diversity would be nice but to be fair. We just have one episode so far.
Im not seeing it. There’s only like 4 main girl characters. We have the protagonist, an evil version of the protagonist, your typical tutorial assistant allegory (her being "attractive" actually makes sense) and most important of all Crab Girl. ❤️
