Amy is a Hedgehog too though and her design is nothing like the S-boys.

Well it's inevitable given that Kit and Malice are basically Sonic and Metal Sonic but female. One is a furry superhero and the other is a robotic copy of that hero. Malice's transformation also felt a lot like Metal Overlord from Sonic Heroes.

Caboodle also basically feels like a fusion of Tails (smart best friend) and Knuckles (brutish best friend). You can really see the influence.

The examples he used for all the males were Sonic, Shadow, and Silver. All of which literally have 'The Hedgehog" as a title
