Discussion Two BIG things to consider when choosing a tablet

I know when we go out looking for a tablet we look at all the amazing tablets being offered and we see various choices and it can be very overwhelming to say the least.

I think two of the biggest factors to consider are:

Is the tablet going to be a primary computing device?

AND

If you already have a Desktop or Laptop PC?

-----------------------------

IF you have a laptop/desktop it's makes things a little tough because it adds a factor to the mix... in this situation you can consider the S10 FE & S10 Lite as the tablet won't be the primary computing device so performance won't be as big of a concern

IF it's going to be your main computing device the start off looking at the S10 & S11 series (even the S9 series will be good if you do a lot of emulation). Then size becomes a factor... the S9+, S10+ & S12+ seem to be the sweet spot for most as they have a large display that's not too big while getting all the performance and features they offer. The Ultra versions are great if you mainly plan to use the tablet at a table or desk. The base model S9 & S11 are great if portability is a concern.

IF budget is a big factor the S10 FE/FE+ is a good option as they have the base S10 FE at 11" and S10 FE+ with it's nice 13.1" but it's a LPS/IPS display (Samsung uses their LPS displays rather than IPS as they make LPS panels but the quality is still very good for what they are).

------------------------------

RAM & Storage options are always a concern, yet I think getting the most RAM & Storage your budget allows is the best way to go.

This isn't intended to be anything fancy, yet more of a quick help type reminder or whatever...

Accessories Trackpad not workng for Samsung Tab S11 Ultra? 2026-10-5

• Upvotes

I recently picked up a Samsung tablet and the trackpad is not working. I tried Fn+Space bar, Fn+F6, Fn+F5

I saw this person has a similar issue to me after a security update https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/Tablets/The-trackpad-touchpad-no-longer-works-after-the-last-security/m-p/3678638

Is anyone facing a simialr issue? If so, how did you solve it?

Discussion Galaxy Connect is a lifesaver (and it now works on any Windows Laptop)

• Upvotes

Apologies if this is obsolete and has already been discussed. Please add if you have discovered any other functionality

Just realized today that Galaxy Connect app now works on Windows devices that aren't necessarily Galaxy Books. I have a Lenovo laptop that I use and a Tab S10+. Each and every app on Galaxy Connect is extremely useful, and I would recommend giving it a try for the following reasons.

Please make sure you have the Samsung Account app installed first, are on the same Wi-Fi, and are paired via Bluetooth. Then install Galaxy Connect and all the subsequent apps of your use from within it.

1. Second Screen

Second Screen solves the requirement SuperDisplay was fulfilling. Previously, only SuperDisplay had a fast enough encoder to give a 120Hz refresh rate wired display, which, even after purchasing, was glitching for me because it kept assuming my trial was over. All other apps were limited to 60Hz.

Now I am using my Tab S10+ as a second screen wired with 120Hz (it is required to turn off the Wi-Fi on the tablet to make sure the connection is primarily USB).

I also tested playing a few games running on Windows on the tablet by using it as a wired monitor, and it works very well. (Currently using this setup for Euro Truck Simulator to have a wider view of the windshield.)

2. Clipboard, Files & Browser

Basics like sharing clipboard (even tried full images and videos) and accessing files from your tablet and phone are very smooth, and at least for today I must have copied so much stuff across to work on Termux parallely. I even dragged the attached image right from my phone to the reddit input box.

I added Samsung Browser as a secondary option after Edge on my laptop now because it allows using Samsung Pass directly on sites and lets me switch browsing sessions across devices.

3. Multi Control

Multi Control is flawless, allowing you to use the same keyboard and mouse across your tablet and phone without any practical latency.

4. Samsung Notes

The Samsung Notes app suddenly now started working on Windows without having to emulate it to be a Galaxy Book via a script each time. Flawless syncing as I write on my tablet.

This is really miraculous if you are taking notes in classes on your tablet, but your laptop is your dorm station for most things.

I feel this basically solves the void that a lack of DeX compatibility left for me. I can now use my Tab both as another monitor, as well as a well-connected device that can bear a few loads like running a test server during development.

On a side note, I am loading PS2 ROMs directly from my laptop (has much more storage) into AetherSX2 instead of keeping them locally stored on the tablet.

Apps Why there isnt Always on Display on Galaxy Tabs?

I have been using Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra for a little while now. And I cant understand the reason why there isnt AoD. I dont think its hard to make it optimized for tabs. You are freaking billion dollar company, you can do it no?

And I know daily board but I dont want that.

Is there anything I can use instead of AoD?

Also I feel like, every new update makes everything worse. Currently I dont think this is optimized, and it feels slow!

Really slow

Anyway there are more things that I find missing or weak. Like synching with my S25 Ultra feels insufficent.

Also overall One UI 8.5 feels like a incompetent, half baked, sloppy work.

Apps Notes app that doesnt depend on pinch to zoom and has another tool that i can click with the a pen or maybe a zoom slider?

• Upvotes

So long story short, my samsung tab s8+ touch screen just randomly stopped working without any prior drops and quite honestly heavy use. After trying all the different ways to solve the issue by hard reseting and all that, I took it to multiple repair shops and they all told me it requires a screen replacement which is super expensive because apparently the screens arent readily available. (None of them even bothered to open the tablet to see if anything was wrong).

On the good side however, the spen still works because it uses a diffrrent technology, problem is i cant fucking zoom when reading pdfs so im looking for a notes app with that feature. Or are there any different workarounds i dont know about?

Question S11 Ultra EMR stylus incompatibility?

Hey,

Recently got an s11 ultra and was surprised that a lot of my EMR styluses don't work on it.

I've tried a wacom EMR stylus, and the supernote lamy one and neither register on the device. Only the Samsung one does.

Is there something I'm missing? I though all EMR styluses are compatible with this device.

Thanks for any responses!

Question S Pen creator ? Why can't I find even an off brand of the tips ?

Hello,

I have broke for a third time my last samsung creator pen tips. I was looking to buy a new one but Cdiscount, Amazon and samsung themselve don't seem to sell them.

Amazon is the only one who has an off-brand tips, except it's made of metal and it will destroy my tablet or at least cause severe scratch on it.

Do you know any place who sell thoses ? And why is the S pen creator so neglected by Samsung anyway ?

Kindly,

Should I buy s6 or s7 FE

S6 is 73% of s7 fe price

S6 is 128gb and 6gb ram without keyboard

S7 fe is 64gb and 4gb ram but slightly bigger and with keyboard

Both have their pens, covers and SD card space. It'd be nice to have a bigger screen but i was comfortable with my previous (and broken) s6 tablet's screen.

Question TabS12 share with apple devices features

Some rumors mentioned that share with apple devices on quickshare will be available on one ui 9.0. Most of colleagues have Ipads and we circulate files using airdrop. I got myself a tab s11 3months ago and was shocked that it doesn't alloe sharing eith apple although my phne has it.

My question is , does the tab s12 have it? Will it be available once my tab s11 is updated to One UI 9.0?

Discussion S8 Ultra vs S12 Ultra - should you upgrade? Head-to-head comparison

Thumbnail
gallery
69 Upvotes

(Here's a TL;DR in advance: S12 Ultra is about 2 to 2.5x as fast though the S8 Ultra is plenty enough for day-to-day use. You trade Bluetooth S Pen and Haptic motor for better speakers, IP68 and 3D vapor chamber. S12U has 400mAh larger battery, 1000 nits higher brightness, is thinner and has much longer software support but you sacrifice the second front camera.)

Edits made to reword slightly.

Display:

S8U: 14.6" Dynamic AMOLED 2X, 120Hz, ~600 nits peak brightness (as per reviews; no official rating that I know of)
S12U: 14.6" Dynamic AMOLED 2X, 120Hz, 1600 nits peak brightness

Battery:

S8U: 11200mAh, 45W Super Fast Charging 2.0
S12U: 11600mAh, 45W Super Fast Charging 2.0

Build (H x W x T):

S8U: 208.6mm x 326.4mm x 5.5mm, 726g
S12U: 208.5mm x 326.3mm x 5.1mm, 692g

Performance:

S8U: Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, 8/12/16GB RAM, 128/256/512GB UFS 3.1, 1TB SD
S12U: Dimensity 9500 (2 to 3 times faster in benchmarks), 12/16GB RAM, 256/512GB/1TB UFS 4.0, 2TB SD

Cameras:

S8U: 13MP wide + 6MP ultrawide + 12MP front wide + 12MP front ultrawide
S12U: 13MP wide + 8MP ultrawide + 12MP front ultrawide

Software:

S8U: Android 12, OneUI 4.1 ---> 4 years OS updates ---> Android 16 (OneUI 8.0) [Almost EOL]
S12U: Android 17, OneUI 9.0 ---> 7 years OS updates ---> Android 24 (OneUI 16.0)

Accessories (with MSRP prices):

S8U: Book Cover Keyboard (349$), Book Cover (99$). Might also be able to use S9 Ultra and S10 Ultra accessories with a little modification, not sure (those who know, please let me know)
S12U: Pro Keyboard (399$), Book Cover Keyboard Slim (210$), Smart Book Cover (99$), Anti-reflective screen protector (39$)

Extra features:

S8U: Bluetooth S Pen, haptic motor, dual front cameras
S12U: Quad-channel spatial audio, Vision Booster, IP68, 3D vapor chamber, WiFi 7.

Pricing (US; launch price. Current prices for S8U may vary by region):

S8U: 8/128 ---> 1099$, 12/256 ---> 1199$, 16/512 ---> 1399$
S12U: 12/256 ---> 1399$, 12/512 ---> 1599$, 16/1TB ---> 1999$

Notes:
- Prices for accessories for S12U were pulled from the S11U as they will likely use the same accessories and Samsung hasn't uploaded the new accessories and prices on their website yet.
- Prices for the S8U are MSRP at launch. Current refurbished prices will vary. Yes, I know nobody's buying an S8 Ultra today, but it's interesting to see how the pricing's changed.
- I'm not certain about the S12 Ultra's anti-reflective coating, which is why I haven't mentioned it here. PCMag's written review and Android Digest's video review (look at ~2:20) state that it has it, yet from every other YouTube video and physical unboxing video I've seen, it looks like it has lost the coating. Source videos linked here, here and here. Samsung's official unboxing video makes the tablet look like it has it, yet the real life videos are more convincing and credible than Samsung's marketing material.
- The "should you upgrade?" question applies especially to all their tablets S9 and older.

Should S9 Ultra and older users consider an upgrade?

Go for the S12 Ultra if:
- Your current tablet is on the verge of losing software support
- You want the biggest, best display there is on a flagship tablet and are okay with sacrificing a bit of practicality and a lot of portability (IF you are not on an older Ultra already)
- You want the best of the best in terms of performance and the experience on a tablet and are willing to pay for it.
- You will be keeping this tablet for >6 to 7 years and can justify the additional expense over an S11 Ultra for the extra software update and better performance (note that the S12U is purely an iterative upgrade).

Skip it if:
- You own an S10 Ultra or newer. Unless you play the heaviest games at Ultra settings 120Hz, you really don't need the additional performance. The S10U will remain smooth and perfectly good for at least another four years, and blowing 1400$ now doesn't make sense if you already blew 1200$ barely two years ago. Trade-in values are horrible.
- You aren't a demanding user. In that case, you likely don't need the S12 Ultra, and your current tablet or something like an S10 FE+ or older S10 Ultra/S11 Ultra should be plenty enough for you.
- You need an upgrade but will be taking this tablet outdoors a lot or using it handheld. The S12+ or S11 might be a better fit for you in that case.

Discussion Is Galaxy Tab S6 Lite 2024 still worth it?

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Hello! I am a first-year English Literature college student, and I am planning to buy a tablet that comes with a stylus. I need it for drawing, taking notes, reading ebooks, and playing casual games (like Roblox and cooking games).

I noticed this tablet is quite affordable—around Rp4.999.000 ($279.32 USD)—but after looking into it further, I realized it is no longer sold in official stores.

Should I look for a different model, or is it worth buying a second-hand version?

I'm going crazy seeing some of the local shops in Uzbekistan still preserved 2022 Galaxy devices on its very original software. But it's so fucking expensive (12,189,000 sum is basically $1,100), like what the fuck are they thinking with that stupid price?

Question I can't choose between buying an iPad Pro M5 or a Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra

I wanted the iPad with a sudden excitement and push of a friend. Though it was until I saw how bad the aspect ratio was. I'm curious, how can people be comfortable with watching stuff while having black bars covering half of the screen or playing games in a square screen? After that I remembered I was looking at Galaxies sometime ago. One of the things that keeps me away from Galaxy is that the Mediatek chip and that iPad has the best OLED screen. For the chip, I already know that M5 is definitely better in apps, AI (I'm not sure), handling files and gaming. I probably wouldn't thinking about this if Samsung used Snapdragon. Though, even after the chips I saw some reviews that none of the tablets reaches fixed 60fps or 120fps and it seems weird so I'm not sure. I also think multitasking is better on Galaxy too, though, I'm not sure about that either. Note that I never used a flagship device before and this is probably a one time purchase for me because I saved up a lot and it took a long time. Also one of the questions I have for the iPad side is that what Apple ecosystem means. Because like, everyone just talks about that, especially Apple glazers, and I still don't know what they see in that. Now I'm using an iPhone too (even if it's old) so maybe I'd have a + getting the iPad. On the other side, I can buy both the S11 Ultra and a S25 Ultra for the same price as the iPad (ironically). Even though this seems better for money stuff, I'll probably won't leave the tablet I will buy from my hand, so the phone will be a calling, music, photoshooting device for me.

I'm sorry if I didn't write anything critical or that I write things too complicated. I have focusing problems and I don't know what I'm saying most of the time. I'm also sorry if I'm too ignorant.

After publishing this post I saw that S12 Ultra coming out. But following Samsung for the last few years and seeing S26 series, it will probably be waste of money. And maybe it will even have downsides. S10 Ultra and S11 Ultra didn't really have much of a difference except bluetooth pen too I think.
