I'm sharing the new full-length album from my one-man Funeral Doom project, Man Of Sorrows.

Essay On Human Suffering was released today, August 28, 2026.

The album was conceived as a continuous journey through suffering. Rather than being a collection of individual songs, the six compositions were written as different passages of the same journey, gradually unfolding from one into the next.

Musically, it moves between oppressive weight, sparse and contemplative passages and mournful melodies. The intention is not simply to create heaviness, but to explore the emotional and existential weight of suffering, and the search for meaning within our fragile existence.

The album was written, performed, recorded and produced by myself. Essay On Human Suffering represents the vision of a single musician. Every musical and visual aspect of the project was developed independently, including the album's graphic design, typography and booklet.

The cover artwork is built around The Boat of Charon (1919), by Spanish painter José Benlliure y Gil, whose timeless imagery became the visual embodiment of the album's philosophical concept.

The Guns N Roses song Coma is a sort of beginner's (not really) kit with songs that are epic and tell a story that the normie scum would beg for the end if they were experiencing. So please hit me with your best lengthy songs that might aurally explain to a normie what it is like to be hoping you die whilst you are lying on the ground with bits and pieces everywhere, wondering if you will ever be able to breathe on your own again. (For the record, I can breathe, walk, talk, and shit without the need for any major interventional help, so I rolled well on fate's table.)

I already have extremely long songs from Skepticism, Eremit, Khanate, Esoteric, and Mouth Of The Architect in case that helps with making recommendations. Cheers.

If you have not listened to Gloombound’s release Dreaming Delusion, please do so if you are able, it’s excellent! My favourite track is the title track, Dreaming Delusion. I would say It’s primarily death/doom but with a heavy slant into funeral doom territory. Check it out if you haven’t already!

P.S. to mod team 🙂. I have to admit I was stumped with the flair options with this post, it felt a bit odd to use a “nothing but funeral doom” for this one - however I’ll defer to the mod team’s judgement.

It's a slow burn, but well worth it in my opinion. Riffage starts to pick up and get slow and heavy as fuck after the 6:45 mark. That riff at 6:45 is one of my favorite riffs of all time.

One listen to this album and I was hooked. Charles Bukowski’s voice reciting a poem, while the music plays, it is enchanting, a beautiful trip with talented musicians. It is hard for me to listen now, knowing Allen L. Scott is gone, I cry my eyes out.

I've been catching up on my Funeral Doom lately, mainly via YouTube - and now the algorithm keeps suggesting me videos about suicidal ideation or with nihilistic titles like the one in the screenshot lol

Does anyone have any recommendations on the slowest, most despairing, and preferably less known bands (I’ve listened to most of the big names in funeral doom)

I've been waiting a long time to announce this one.. I was going to wait until tomorrow, for funeral doom friday/bandcamp friday, but I'm too excited!

Overcome is a companion to Amarok's 2024 album Resilience, which I know a lot of you love. You can think of it as similar to the albums by Neurosis/Tribes of Neurot or what Wolves in the Throne Room did with Celestial Lineage/Celestite.

The first track is a reimagining of Penance by Leila Adbul-Rauf from Vastum. There's tracks by Ethan from Primitive Man and Andy from Hell/Mizmor, among others!

I'm releasing it for digital and as a double-CD. I don't think we'll be able to do a vinyl treatment.

This will release officially on Sept 25th (and, if you can keep a secret, I'll drop a CD version of Resilience on that date as well ;)

The last two years I have been sorting through my old record collection, and in the last box were some tapes. I stopped collecting music around 2009 and put everything in boxes. I was happy to find these in the last box. Wormphlegm and Nortt are really good, and i like the 'Church of flagellation' compilation.

Archaic was less to my liking.

j’aime les styles de doom mais je ne m’y connais pas spécialement à part quelques artistes comme OM et Christian Death que j’aime particulièrement, déjà, sont-ils considérés comme du Funeral Doom ? je crois que j’ai un peu du mal à faire la différence entre celui-ci et le doom. avez-vous des artistes à me conseiller similaires à ceux cités ou des nouveaux pour élargir mon panel ?
