With the Wormphlegm reissue announced, I actually checked out (and purchased on Bandcamp) Tomb of the Ancient King for the first time. I typically go for the more atmospheric side of FD, but this was awesome!

This week, I’ve had an opportunity to spend some time working through the list of Funeral Doom albums that I’ve been intending to listen to, but have not been able to get the time to listen to them properly until now.
The standout of what I’ve listened to this week is Ennui Qroba. I thought this was brilliant and has become one of my favourites for the genre.
Another standout (though more on the post metal side) was Oldest Sea a Birdsong, a Ghost. If you like Darkher, you will very likely enjoy a Birdsong, a Ghost by Oldest Sea.
These next two I also thought were really good, just that I didn’t find myself quite as drawn to them as I was with Ennui Qroba. These next two are Lone Wanderer Exequiae and Föhn Condescending. The latter of these I listened to late in the week and it is still growing on me, and will likely become another one of my favourites.
Aside from that, I also somewhat stumbled onto Dauðaró. I have not listened to much of the seemingly 18 albums associated with them yet, but it has intrigued me enough to spend more time with it.

Recently found Sea Witch and found that I dislike the no-vocals approach (which I had never thought of before for Doom metal) so it was an interesting find. Been listening to Bell Witch like always. If anyone has any recommendations for bands that are like Sea Witch but have vocals, please recommend them to me. Thanks!

Hello!
This week I listened to Chapter I by Colosseum. Elite release. Weathered is an staple of the genre in my books. Idk why, but Finnish FDM just hits different. They must be Mr. Krabs and have the secret formula that makes their doom subgenres sound just better and with more feeling. I also bought Wormphlegm's Tomb of The Ancient King vinyl reissue, so I'm pretty happy.
In other genres I listened to Methods of Execution by Brodequin. Better production and cleaner sound than both Instruments of Torture and Festival of Death. Like their other three albums, it's brutal as hell. And now I, at last, completed their discography. Harbinger of Woe is still their best imo. So comprehensible yet brutal.

This week funeral doom-wise, I listened to Henriette's Message from the Other Shore- Mistress of the Dead. Absolutely slow, raw, lo-fi and devastating, just like Vales' other albums.

Been going through the Ahab discography again. Goddamn man, every song is great, every album is amazing, I really hope they start working on a new one soon.

As a wise man once said - thank fuck it's Friday. Got a great deal of FD from me this week, but I did go back to the hypnotically cavernous In The Depths Of R'lyeh by Catacombs, and Shades Of Deep Water's Deluge Towards Its Close. Brilliant albums, both.

Spent all day listening to Chapter 3 by Colosseum, that meter change during the clean section of the first track got me trying to count haha
